The Atlantic: Pollsters, Put Ron Paul In!
Pollsters, Put Ron Paul In
The political world can't stop speculating on the next presidential race, but as it continues to daydream about 2012 it should include room for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R). Two surveys [here and here] this month of Republican voters sought to size up the potential GOP field but did not include Paul. This is a mistake because Dr. No's philosophy is closer to the Republican mainstream than it was last year when he ran for president.
When the primaries began, Paul's warnings against inflationary money printing, an unaccountable Federal Reserve and an ever-expanding federal government seemed overheated to most Republicans. That was before the Fed printed $1 trillion this spring; the Treasury bought major shares in banks and automakers that are lynchpins in their respective economic sectors, and Democrats announced big plans for health care.
Now you hear conservatives worried about the Fed and inflation, and railing against the government's quasi-control of private businesses.
Republicans in Congress have been voting more like Paul since the primaries ended, namely on economic policy. First, half of the House GOP and Paul voted against the final version of the bailout authorization last October. Then, every single representative voted with Paul against the stimulus bill this year. (However, Paul and the GOP are still at odds on staying in Iraq and Afghanistan much longer.)
Furthermore, more than 150 House Republicans are now co-spo

Add Paul's name to the poll's and he will continue to win them.
This is not what the Rep. Party 'leaders' want, they want Dr. Paul's message and backing but NOT Dr. Paul.
i like that fact that there
i like that fact that there are more and more articles arising about how right Ron Paul and other constitutionalists are. they're gaining respect in a very rapid fashion and i like seeing this. i believe the people who think they are in charge of us have a rude awakening coming there way; i'm hoping to see way more of us than them soon
This is an encouraging
This is an encouraging article. It's true that many people who would have thought the Ron Paul was crazy last year may very well be ready to vote for him in three years. I've noticed many of the people that I know who thought I was being eccentric for supporting Ron Paul are starting to sound a lot more like him themselves lately. Does anyone know how "mainstream" the Atlantic is. I think I remember them having some positive articles about Dr. Paul during the primaries.
Ron Paul was the only sane republican on the hill....
For like over ten years it seems like.
He's the real voice of the party, the party which has always been conservative and in back of the 2nd amendment & fiscal policy.
Meaning NO foreign misadventures where they aren't needed, military for defense only, small government, NO bankrupting the country through spending on foreign wars, and independent health care.
All those issues were tossed in the trash by the neo-liberal Ziofascists who took over the GOP the last decade.
It's time the Ron Paul world take it back, and take it back once & for all!!
even my Dem husband
who basically likes RP, but wouldn't vote for him, because he's a republican (the left and right paradigm)
he said when we talked about the bakrupcy of California, it is because of the big gouvernment.
There are potential voters in many groups.
