On Having a Recovery, "Not a Chance!"- P.Schiff

On having a recovery in the 4th quarter, "In what decade!"-P. Schiff

It may go up to 10k or higher, it wont mean a thing, its just a suckers rally.

10,000 What?

How much has the value of the dollar eroded since the bail outs began?

How much farther will it erode?

If the government has to print up or borrow a ton of money in order to provide the funds necessary to cause such an increase then how have we solved any problems-- all we've done is slosh some funds from one side of the bucket to another side of the bucket, no real value has been added to the system. The stock market doing up by a few thousand points is simply the result of us as a country racking up more debt.

Or you could simply make the observation that: When it comes to financial crises it usually takes a few 'recoveries' before things get back to normal. And, the people making the claim that we're out of the woods are the same folks who said we'd never be in the woods-- so really why should we wouldn't trust their directions and predictions?

Or you could observe that just like its impossible to know if you're in a recession until you're 6 months in (or whatever) you can't know you're in the recovery until you've actually recovered. So really, if someone is telling you we're in the recovery they're just blowing smoke (I'll let you figure out where).

In short I'll believe it's not a dead cat bounce when it does not

It is manipulation only.

Live or Die Free! Politicians just hasten the act. Idiots talk and patriots act!!

Whenever someone loses there is always a winner. Follow the money to see where your went. Once again, when someone loses someone gains. Where did your money go. The STOCK MARKET is stealing your money. The bankers own it.

1976-1982 USMC, You can thank me for my service by voting for Dr. Ron Paul, President 2012

I do not think so.

Have the millions of people who have lost there jobs celebrating that the stock market is going up?
Are the people who cannot find a job celebrating?
Do we still have 30-50 million people on food stamps?
Are we rebuiling the infastructure in this country?
Is our national debt over 10 trillion still?
We have 2 wars going on.
The stock market is not the only indicator of a healthy economy.
When that little ticker has a big number everything is fine.

Numbers don't lie?

Since when don't numbers lie? There are people whose full time job it is to do nothing but manipulate numbers to show a desired result.

In the case of the market, a few big traders and the PPT are most likely responsible for this 'rally'. No sensible person is risking anything substantial in this economy... would you?

I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...

wasnt there a few people

Where Would The Money Come From To Buy Stocks?

From the millions of unemployed?
No!
From the homeless?
No!
From the closed banks and businesses?
No!
From pension funds that have way less contributors?
No!
From investment banks that received TARP funds and future taxpayers money?

BINGO ! ! !

We may make a stab at 10,000

We may make a stab at 10,000 but this won't recover for ten to twenty years. This time, it's our turn!

Computer Trading is 70% of Daily Volume - This isn't a Rally

This is what you call rigged, criminal, etc, etc., The "market" is owned by a few (Goldman Sachs and usual suspects).

There are some great discussions on high frequency trading going on at zerohedge. A lot of freaky things going on.

Computer-driven trading, where complex buy and sell orders are completed in fractions of a second, now account for 73 percent of all daily stock trades in the United States, according to the Tabb Group, a financial services research firm. Tabb also estimates that the 300 securities firms and hedge funds that specialize in rapid-fire algorithmic trading raked in some $21 billion in profits last year.

The Stock Market Has Been Taken Captive

Like any other "institution" that controls money, the stock market is now a watering hole for hellish predators that will suck your money dry.

Numbers

I could happen. In 1998, the Dow Industrial Average was about what it is now, up from 3000 only a few years previously. It went to 14,000. Were we on a road to recovery then? The Treasury and Fed have the means to run the Dow to 10,000,000,000. For them, zeros are free.

Stock valuations relative to earnings and dividends are back at levels approaching or surpassing those at the top of the dot-com bubble.

Very insightful comment.

Stock valuations relative to earnings is quite important to see if this 'rally' is sustainable.

The economy,

is starting to improve for the banks and the sellout corporations. But strangely, housing and jobs are sadly lacking.

Recession Far From Over, Says Zuckerman

The economy isn’t out of the woods yet, not by a long shot. That, at least, is the conclusion drawn by none other than U.S. News & World Report’s eminence grise Mortimer Zuckerman, in a July 14 article in the Wall Street Journal.

Daring to buck the conventional wisdom of recent months, Zuckerman doubts, in a sobering assessment of the latest economic data, that the recession is anywhere near its conclusion, nor even to bottoming out. “The cumulative job losses over the last six months,” Zuckerman notes, “have been greater than for any other half year period since World War II, including the military demobilization after the war. The job losses are also now equal to the net job gains over the previous nine years, making this the only recession since the Great Depression to wipe out all job growth from the previous expansion.”

Ron Paul 2012 for Peace

The DOW will top out in late

The DOW will top out in late July/early Aug.

hold on here I had meant to post this here

Wait a minute

Nothing has changed we are still in a downward spiral.
Every day 20,000 people lose their job. That is DAILY! It is accelerating.
Every day over 10,000 people are being foreclosed on. There are on average 4 people in a household which means that 40,000 people are made homeless every day of the week. YES I SAID DAILY! This is also accelerating.
Every day over 7,000 people have their cars repossessed that is also increasing. Yes I mean daily.
Across the country tent cities are popping up all over.
34 States are out of money for unemployment.
Every shelter in every city is filled to beyond capacity as are soup kitchens.
There is an explosion on the way and you think things are getting better because the tarp banks on wall Street are making money.
Wall street is not the economy. Sorry, but small businesses across the country provide the majority of jobs and they are being outsourced even now.
Why? Because you government gives tax breaks to companies that outsource.
So this country is going down and it will not recover in our lifetimes.
The people did it to themselves by swallowing what they hear on the news hook line and sinker! Give them football and beer they are lost.
If only they showed as much passion for their Country as they do for the game. YOU THE PEOPLE ARE TO BLAME

Yes

Of all the companies big and small in America, the Dow is only 30 of the biggest, most politically connected corporations. They are not allowed to fail, "they are too big to fail" (ie., they control and direct our government).

Of course the Dow will always rise when our leaders are corrupted. I would say a Dow company is a good investment, but only from the most narrow financial perspective. If you buy Dow stock you are financing your own enslavement and that of others, it is a grievous wrong and our world is paying for it.

I know many people are not religious or theists here, but I can't imagine God would smile too brightly on investing in these people's con man shell games and Ponzi schemes.

All smoke and mirrors...

The blood sucking leeches are setting us up for another round of blood letting.

I keep on hearing the same

I keep on hearing the same thing. But I have news for them: the Stock Market may reach 10,000 again for a little while and then we'll have another recession and the banksters will have a second shot at taking whatever they couldn't take during the first recession and boom.

the numbers lie

FOOL

True

The Dow is headed back to 10,000 and far, far beyond. Just like the Zimbabwe stock market did. To the moon Alice!
