FED Indepence?
Why would we want to Federal Reserve to be independent? Doesn't the Constitution say that the Congress shall coin money, and regulate its value?
Do we want to see a continuation of inflation, recession and depression; the very things the Federal Reserve has brought us over the last 96 years? Do we want to see a continuation in the loss of purchasing power of the dollar?
I am against the Federal Reserve's independence, in fact, I am in favor of returning the coining of money to the Congress, and the restoration of gold and silver as money.
Actually, it would be better...
if the government was out of the business of coining money. If you want an Austrian style free market, you need monetary policy that is free as well. Right now private money is illegal; make it legal and the market can determine monetary policy rather than a monopolistic private-or-public entity that distorts money to its own ends.
