How to invest in ETF'S

0 votes

I've been doing a lot of research and listening to Jim Rogers a lot lately. I'm really wanting to buy commodity & Silver ETF's (I already own silver coins) I know some don't recomend silver ETF's but for short term I think it's fine. I have $1000 to invest and I was wondering if this is even enough. Can those of you experienced in this point me in the right direction to learn how to do this? Thanks for any help you can offer!

What about material or

What about material or agriculture ETF'S? Do you know of any good instructional books on this topic?

I wouldn't instructional books...

it's not that hard. Just go here to see a list of etfs. You can browse by sector.

Thanks I'll look that over!

ETF

SLV is an ETF for silver. Each share is 1 oz so you can buy as many or few as you want. It moves with the futures prices of silver. Do be aware of your transaction cost... you may pay 1-3% to buy and sell based on a 1k investment.

Good point about transaction costs Rogue...

Color, what is your broker? What kind of commissions do they charge? Maybe try to buy 10 shares of GLD on a pullback to 91$/share. Or some SLV on a pullback.

I've not made it that far

I've not made it that far yet. I was considering using etrade or something like that but I have not taken that step yet.

I want to stay away from gold for now do to my limited funds. I am waiting on a pull back for silver but Jim has gotten me interested in materials and food as well. Other than real estate I have never invested before so I'm still green when it comes to the market.
