If he has no money and doesn't barter

how does he have a computer and internet access? He would need electricity and how does he pay for that?

Oh. Thanks for

clearing that up.

His opinions on money are a

His opinions on money are a bit off though- that its a burden or whatnot. Its just a medium of exchange and it improves your living standards plain and simple. If you decide to buy cheaper/unhealthier food because now you don't have to spend time growing/hunting it and can pursue other activities that you like...what's wrong with that? I dont have a problem with him livin without money he seems to have more fun that way so thats fine too.

It remarks in the article

It remarks in the article that he studied Buddhism. His shrugging of money isn't necessarily based on economic ideas but religious ones.

I keep trying

to throw things out & donate 'em; it's hard but baby-step-progress is being made. :)

I'm sending this to all my family and friends that voted for the poser.

Most of us have a choice

Most of us have a choice about how we live today. Someday we may all be living like this guy. Not out of choice, but rather necessity.

We should all be free...

To live as we please as long as it does not interfere with the liberty of others without having to report our every intimate detail to the gunvernment...whether we live off the grid or on it...that's my opinion to each his own...

I guess he could

i just read about him today

i just read about him today as well, it was a front page headline on yahoo. that must be crazy tough to do though, i feel overly domesticated now. but I won't act like he doesn't have what some things that were once produced by money unfortunately, whether he found it or was given to him. He's still to me one of the braver men in the country, and i admire the self reliance in him

Interesting read.

This article makes me realize just how dependent on the system I am, and that frightens me. I wish I had the confidence and self sufficiency to go off the grid like this guy has, and be able to do it successfully.
