If in fact Obama was born in Kenya, the laws on the books at the time of his
birth stated if a child is born abroad and one parent was a U.S. Citizen, which would have
been his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, Defendant’s mother would have had to live ten (10)
years in the U.S., five (5) of which were after the age of fourteen (14). At the time of
Defendant’s birth, his mother was only eighteen (18) and therefore did not meet the residency
requirements under the law to give her son (the Defendant) U.S. Citizenship. The laws in
effect at the time of Defendant’s birth prevented U.S. Citizenship at birth of children born
abroad to a U.S. Citizen parent and a non-citizen parent, if the citizen parent was under the
age of nineteen (19) at the time of the birth of the child. Defendant’s mother did not qualify
under the law on the books to register Defendant as a “natural born” citizen. Section 301(a)
(7) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of June 27, 1952, 66 Stat. 163, 235, 8 U.S.C.
§1401(b), Matter of S-F- and G-, 2 I & N Dec. 182. Obama would have only been
Naturalized and a Naturalized citizen is not qualified and/or eligible to run for Office of the

Lou Dobbs is reporting that the original long-form bc may have been destroyed eight years ago.
The short-form bc is generated by a relative swearing he was born in Hawaii. That could be grandma ensuring her grandson had all the benefits of US citizenship.

Question: What is the state's policy for issuing a "Certification of Live Birth" versus a "Certificate of Live Birth"? My first, second and fourth children received certificates, but my third and fifth children received certifications. Why the difference? The certificate contains more information, such as the name of hospital, certifier's name and title; attendant's name and title, etc. The certification has only the child's name, date and time of birth, sex, city/island/county of birth, mother's maiden name, mother's race, father's name and father's race. Why doesn't the state just issue certificates? When did it stop issuing certificates? Is it possible to obtain certificates for my third and fifth children?

Even if Obama was born in Hawaii and is a US citizen, the question remains, is he a "natural born citizen?" At the time of his birth his father was a British citizen. And he remained a British citizen until Kenya won their independence at which time he became a Kenyan citizen.
At no time was Obama's father a US citizen. And therein lies the rub. At best Obama is a dual citizen. Which is a far cry from being a natural born citizen.

Hard to say...it could make it easier by making the GOP sounds cookish or it could polarize things some and maybe make it slightly harder for him.

No. You can still be a citizen if born in a foreign land to one american parent, except in some special circumstances. Obama can't be a citizen if born in a foreign land b/c of the law at the time. You can also be a naturalized citizen w/o a bc.
There are several categories of citizenship in the USA. Some examples are: Naturalized, Derivative, Statutory, Born, and Natural Born.
Natural born definitely has a bc.

It may be, and the ratings certainly suggested this was the case, that the television viewing public preferred Jay Leno to David Letterman when choosing which late-night talk show to watch. From a political standpoint, however, it would do a candidate for elective office little good at the polls to announce he was a "Leno person" or to denounce Letterman. Preference in late-night talk show hosts is simply not an issue on which people vote.
On the other hand there are issues which, while they matter little to the vast majority of the electorate, are of great importance to a minority of voters; indeed these issues do a lot to shape the attitudes of these voters and to direct their behavior in the voting booth.

Peter, You could be a hero and do something called "investigative reporting."
Where are Obama's educational records and what do they say? Did he obtain foreign aid while a student and from what country? What was his nationality at the time he was a student? What passport did he use to travel to Indonesia?
Why has not any of this information been released?

I want to see what a birth certificate from hawaii in 1961 looks like and see what the big deal and the big difference is from what obama has already shown everyone. Lets get over this topic. His mother or other relative could have obtained the short form you saw by signing for it. They didn't have to show a long-form bc or prove he was born in Hawaii to get it. If he was born in Kenya, he would not have been eligible for citizenship b/c his mom was too young to confer it. Citizenship does not qualify for the office of POTUS. He has to have natural-born citizenship, something he did not qualify for even if born in Hawaii, since his dad was not a citizen.

House Dem Putting GOPers On The Spot By Introducing Measure Describing Hawaii As Obama’s Birthplace
Okay, this is getting really good. Dem Rep. Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii is going to introduce a resolution on the House floor today that seems designed to put House GOPers who are flirting with birtherism in a jam.
The measure Abercrombie will introduce commemorates the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood. But here’s the rub, his spokesman tells me: It describes Hawaii as Barack Obama’s birthplace.
“In the language of the resolution, there is a statement that Hawaii is the birthplace of the 44th President of the United States,” Abercrombie spokesman Dave Helfert confirms.
That confronts House GOPers with a choice: They can vote for the measure, and endorse the idea that Obama was born in Hawaii, which could earn the wrath of birthers. Or they can vote against commemorating the 50th state’s joining of our blessed Union. Or GOPers can skip the vote, but that could look nutty.
“Far be it from us to try to stir things up,” Helfert said puckishly. “The president was born there, so what are you gonna do? Not mention it?”

I've got a real conspiracy theory for you on the subject....lol. Tear this one up... it is from a judge.
Obama, if he was smart, is still British. Why?
1./ There are no records that he denounced his British nationality, despite the fact that he would have had to by the age of 18.
2./ He would not have to denounce his American citizenship at all, since his mother was American. If he accepted his British citizenship then he would not be an American citizen, per se... but he does have a Hawaii certification of live birth to fall back on. These were accepted in the continental United States as birth certificates up until the 90's, after all. All you would need to move around and do business in the US would be a social security number... anyone seen that list of his?
3./ He NEEDS his origional birth certificate right now in case something goes horribly horribly wrong with the US popualtion at large, since if he gets in too much trouble he really cannot be charged with, among other things, treason. After all, he is not an American citizen, in this scenario. He would be deported instead, to live the good life elsewhere.
4./ This is why he has not bothered to just buy a fake birth certificate and throw it out there to shut everyone up. This is why he's over a million $$$ now blocking the release.
5./ This is also why he never offered the certification of live birth either, or has ever talked about the issue. You can't get him for purjory, can you?
I know this is all idle speculation and has nothing to do with the very real facts we are discussing on this thread. However, I thought it had... entertainment potential.

Adoption BCs destroyed
I was legally adopted by my step-father. The original BCs were destroyed, now if I order one I can only get BC with step-father's name on it. At least that is the case with Maryland BCs.
If Sotero (sp?) adopted him, he might not be able to get it. Does that make him a non- citizen. I think so, but not sure.
Not that it matters, if it was going to amount to something it would have by now. THEY don't care.
Then the name of the father should be Soetoro on the new BC
I think they seal the old BC and give the child a new one.
But it doesn't add up, because the father's name on his computer print out is Obama.
Also he has the authority to unseal the birth records. He didn't.

Details are sketchy but so far indicate they were thrown out eight years ago in Hawaii when they came up with a new records system. I'd like to know who gave the original orders and if they ordered other states to do the same (as cover knowing this would crop up when Obama got in).

Does anyone know anyone on the DP that is in Hawaii and born there? If so, let's ask them to go down and get a copy of thier birth certificate.

Besides, if they came up with an ~electronic~ system and threw out the origionals, that should mean that the old ones were scanned and the images put into a database.
Which means, worse case scenario, we get another photoshopped image to pick apart.

Yeah, this could have been all thought out years ago as a cover so Hawaii wouldn't stand out now. Still, throwing out the paper record is too dumb to believe, the proof being the present fallout.

Gave birth in Missouri in 83, unmarried, could give my son his dad's last name ( they said you can name your baby whatever last name you want )but even though his dad came to hospital they would not put his name on certificate. Told me when I got married I could have my husband's name put on it. When we were back in TN he had to get our son "legitimatized" because his name was not on certificate and we did not marry.

There's nothing the White House can say that will quell the questions about Obama's birth certificate, press secretary Robert Gibbs said today.
"The God's honest truth is no," Gibbs said when asked if the White House would ever be able to satisfy the so-called birthers. "I almost hate to indulge in such an august setting as the White House…discussing the made up, fictional nonsense of whether the President was born in this country."

IF
he had been born abroad. But there's a Hawaiian birth certificate, which even the Republican Governor of Hawaii and the head of the Hawaiian Dept of Health have declared to be the genuine article. The certificate says he was born in Honolulu and it even shows that Obama's birth was registered by the Hawaiian Health Dept within two business days. At that time, there was no provision or mechanism for registering foreign births with the Hawaiian Health Dept.
So, being born inside the United States, he is, under US law, a natural born citizen ... and this without any regard to the citizenship status of either parent.
Presently, in the US District Court for Washington, DC, someone has filed a lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act against the Dept of State (which handles passports) and the Dept of Homeland Security (which handled immigration records) and both departments have officially responded in court that Pres Obama is (1) natural born US citizen, and (2) never a citizen of another country.
