Henry Louis Gates arrested for being "uppity black man"
So this is what it comes down to, Obama sticking up for an uncooperative Black Harvard college professor home boy when a white police officer had the audacity to question a black man whom a 911 call reportedly forced a residence door open to gain entry.
You know what, this tells me they don't want racial diversity, they want racial superiority. Now the professors daughter is on the news saying the police officer is being uncooperative, imo something her A-hole father was that precipitated this incident.
I suggest the next time there is a 911 call that a black man is forcing in a house door to gain entry to first call Harvard to see if it one of their Assholes.
Obama is another uppity Harvard fool for weighing in on this against a white policeman doing his duty.
Side note: When I was in the Marines in Okinawa 1963-65 race riots were common between white and black Marines. They were finding murdered Marines all over the place. I had my share of trouble with them too. There are two Marine Corps, the white one and black one, probably Hispanic now too. Don't believe me, you are welcome to find out for yourself.
As a new recruit in the 1st Marine Division in 1961 I was assigned to a 105mm artillery battery. It wasn't long being a private some smart ass ranking blacks started screwing with me, I told them all to go get screwed. Sure I got into trouble, lucky I had white officers and NCO's. One white SNCO, told me he hated these f'-ng blacks [N's] too. They took me off the howitzers and put me into radio. I suppose instead, if the powers to be were black back then I would of went to the brig to be screwed over by more blacks.
After the Marines I went to the Chicago VA a for a GI Bill home guaranty loan certificate of eligibility. The Black receptionist took all the blacks first before she would process mine. I could go on and on, but you live in a dream world if you believe in racial harmony.

what a birdbrain statement!
Very guilty

I called the Sheriff about a year ago (same thing)
The 1st generation Hispanics who bought the house across the street during the bubble found themselves $109,000 under-water, they let the house go into foreclosure. I don't blame them.
Well, after many months being empty, and mysterious widow and garage door openings, a white straight-back unmarked truck pulled into their driveway. The occupants used a bolt cutter to cut the lock off and I called the County Sheriff (numerous break-in's like this) and within minutes two squads opposite directions on street blocked any possible escape and the officers approched the now occupied house. It was the banks "white" clean-up people and they identified themselves, the cops were black. No incident. What's so hard about that ?
"So this is what it comes

Er, no- it's about a police officer who had the audacity to ARREST a black man after verifying that he was the owner of the house.
I'm really truly shocked that someone on the Daily Paul would be willing to call someone out on being "uncooperative". That's a call for sheepdom if I ever heard one.
Why did you leave out ?
The police officer was leaving after Gates irately identified himself, but no, Gates wanted to follow this white police officer to exploit the situation and got arrested.
Do you hate police or they have no rights ?
Audacity

The police officer had the audacity to enforce the law. Whether the disorderly conduct law is overly broad or just is another matter.
When the professor went out into public he was subject to arrest at the discretion of the officer.
I know there are some here who believe being pro-liberty means being anti-police or anti-government. I wouldn't hesitate to criticize an officer who broke the law or violated procedure, but when the officer makes lawful decisions he has my support.
PS If the professor had stayed in the house he couldn't have been arrested. Some are saying the cop outsmarted the Harvard professor. Maybe true, maybe not.
Getting arrested for giving
Getting arrested for giving a cop a bad attitude is disgusting beyond belief- I live in New York City so it happens all the time here. I don't see why everyone is ok with putting people in cages for daring to be vocally upset, I didn't know that was a violent crime.
Did he break the law?
That is the only relevant question. It's not about attitude
It's about the rule of law. It matters not whether it's a good law or bad law.
If you bait the cops, know the law.
Very dumb and distracting "professor"
I hate affirmative action if this is the product.

Is this post for real?
This "movement" has lost its focus. The racist OP is not a true believer in liberty and neither are the fools posting below that fuel his fire.
Barry's comment...
Barry's comment shouldn't mean anything to anyone...he is NOT the freakin' President! He is NOT the Commander in Chief!!! He can't be by the law of the Constitution...and it sounds more-and-more like our boys/girls in uniform are starting to question his authority.
The professor in this mess was beligarent with the officer and is lucky to not get his skull smacked with a baton...which is just about what he deserved.
Stereotypes don't just fall out of the sky, folks. A fancy house in a foo-foo neighborhood, a B&E call and there's a black man in the living room?
Gates should be happy I wasn't the responding officer....I would've drawn a different conclusion, based on my life's experiences...which are more akin to B. Richard's.

The kettle calling the pot black
A cop cousin of mine was called to a residence where an occupants brother wouldn't get up; unbeknown to my cousin his brother had been drinking, and when he checked to see if the guy required medical attention, the guy punched my cousin between the eyes breaking his glasses. Point - this wasn't even a breaking an entry call, cops have to be suspicious if they want to do their job and survive !
BHO is caught between a rock and a hard place (not smart). After his his knee-jerk faux pas the police (officer Crawley), acted stupidly statement, he is now saying Gates and Crowley overreacted. Isn't that the kettle calling the pot black ?
If BHO apologizes for his comment the blacks won't like it and call him an "Uncle Tom" , and on the other-hand if he doesn't the whites won't like it, and consider him a racist. Answer, shift the blame to Gates and Crawley. Sheeple are not that smart.
IMO, the only one "openly" who is not a racist is the cop
what a disappointment
this thread is. i am still trying to figure out what the OP has to do with the arrest of gates.
i am not naive enough to deny racism infects all races, however i tend to leave racists where i find them.

i have read it.
your post seems to radiate the very thing you claim to abhor.
just as the first revolution, this one will not be won by whites alone.
if i were to judge races based on my bad experiences i would probably not have white friends.
and i am white as paste.

Are you saying Gates
... acted reasonably, his friend Obama too, and the police officer has no rights ?
The big loser in this story is Obama.
By shooting from the lip before he had a detailed version of what took place he revealed himself as very un-presidential and that will drive him further down in the polls. The president (any public servant but especially the president) must refrain from interjecting himself into petty disputes, The fact that Obama did betrays an inability to assume the the full mantle of leadership.
Many voted for Obama in hopes of ending the racial divide in America. They were unwilling to take seriously race pimps Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson but Obama's manner suggested he was not carrying a giant race chip on his shoulder. He was a uniter not a divider. It was an effective facade but now the Gates incident has unmasked the president as a man seething with racial resentment, just like his 20-year pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright. This will not sit well with a significant share of the "white guilt" voters who elected him.

Let's assume Gates in a racist
- Let's assume Gates is a racist, and hates every single non-black person on the planet.
-Futher, let's assume that the police officer is a racist and hates every single non-white person on the planet.
The cop shows up at Gates house. Because they are both racist, they both immediately hate each other.
The cop asks for ID. Gates initially refuses. Eventually, the cop is able to verify that Gates does in fact live there.
So let's see where we wind up
-It doesn't matter if Gates is a racist. Who cares one way or the other?
-The only thing that matters if the police were justified in arresting Gates AFTER THEY VERIFIED that Gates was the rightful owner of the house, irrespective of whether Gates is a racist.
So let's stop with the unnecessary 'gate is a racist!' comments, because it's totally irrelevant.
Let us also assume that Obama is a racist.
No we don't need to make that assumption, simple because it is obvious that he is.

Sheeple pay attention
... this is a non-racial incident, get over it !
Gates was arrested as he followed the arresting officer as he left his home to continue the discussion. Gates would of done the same thing if the officer was balck !
Had a lot to do with race -- the cop's
Very good points you're making, but I actually think the racism here is all the professor's. If it had been a black policeman, the professor would not/could not have turned this into a race issue. But, the guy was white, so Gates' imagination started going wild. The only racial profiling I see here is the professor assuming the white cop was a racist.
I wonder how many cocktails he had on the plane--I know some folks who can't fly w/o getting drunk. Perhaps there was a little of that going on.
Professor Gates looks like a real jerk. He could care less about how his race-baiting helps to promote the stereotype of the angry black man who thinks whites are all out to get them. More than likely, this could be the best thing that ever happened to him. Pathetic.

Implied Racism
It was mentioned on one of the newscast that "you don't understand what was going through his mind as a black man". How are we supposed to deal with implied racism? Like "You are considered a racist until you prove you aren't" ? Is this why Obama polls more popular that his policies? I mean if you say you don't like him, you must be a racist, right?
Gates was profiling.
He saw a police officer who was white and made the assumption he was a racist. Obama profiled too, assuming only a racist would arrest his friend. Obama didn't have all the facts and didn't need them to come to a conclusion.
Only because the officer had a sterling record is Obama backing off. And God forbid if this had happened in a red state with a police officer without distinction.
No, What They (Politicians) Want Is Hatred
This is a classic example of what I am always saying: the greatest purveyors of hatred are politicians, and their lap dogs in the media.
If I had to break into my house because I lost my keys, and a policeman came and asked me for my identification, I would show it to him, and thank him for being concerned about my property. This is the way any normal person would act.
But politicians (including many college professors) always want to make a "racial incident" whenever they can. Anything to stir up hatred and resentment.
Had I been the police officer, I would have asked him how he would feel if the person breaking into his home was not him, and the police were reluctant to ask for identification. I presume in an incident like that, he would go off on a tirade about how the police were indifferent about the property of an "oppressed minority".
Now I am not venting my spleen at black people. What I am complaining about is this transparent effort to stir up animosity between blacks and whites. The police acted properly, and if this professor had a problem with their performance, he could have spoken to the Chief of Police. If he became abusive toward the police officers, he should have been arrested.

Note to all of you home
Note to all of you home thieves out there. Break into Gates's house and steal whatever you want. The cops probably will not show up out of fear of false racist accusations. Maybe then Gates would learn that the police are there to protect you too.

Just heard the police officer
is coming to the White House to have a beer with Obama and the professor. The latter two are talking about using it as a teachable moment as if Obama and Gates can teach him about right and wrong.
It just keeps getting worse, as if these two strutting poppincocks have the ability and standing to teach morality.
The arrogance of Obama knows no limit.
