Red Team vs Blue Team

"Republicans lie better than Democrats tell the truth."
A co-worker told me this today, and she said it with absolute faith. As if one side had a lock on the truth and the problem was only that they couldn't communicate it clearly.
Yesterday I listened while she and another co-worker argued about healthcare. It was pitiful, both sides regurgitating inane talking points, neither bringing anything new or relevant to the "debate." There was only the red team versus the blue team, I saw no point in trying to reach either of them.
It seems hopeless at times.

Fortunately you don't have to defend
Republicans. That would be a very hard defense since the last administration dealt in such gross lies.
You can join enthusiastically with them in attacking Republicans for their economic failures, their wars of aggression, and trespass of civil rights.
Then you can point out that the Democrats have exactly the same policies. Then you can rescue the sad conversation by pointing out there are alternatives. A very few principled statesmen working for freedom and peace outside the status quo. Some 3rd party people and a few who are trying to revolutionize the Republican party such as Paul, Kokesh, Schiff.
