Bunning Calls it Quits
Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) "has announced that he will not seek re-election to a third term in 2010," the Louisville Courier-Journal reports.... Earlier, the Courier-Journal noted that more than 100 people who gave to Bunning in his first two Senate races "appear to have switched allegiances and are now backing Secretary of State Trey Grayson (R) instead."

i think it's kind of crazy
i think it's kind of crazy that 100 people switching donations is news worthy.
How much money were these guys giving candidates?
question for Dr. Rand...
Hi all. I know I've been absent for a while, and I'll try to check this, but feel free to message me if you have a good reply. Anyway, I had an idea that, I think, would have defanged some assholes last time, and my suggestion was ignored, with bad results. I want to know what Rand will do WHEN not if (let's just assume it's going to happen) some racist asshole tries to make a donation?
My idea, which got ignored, was to give said donations to the Austin NAACP dude who'd said nice things about Dr. Paul. My idea for Dr. Rand would be to give the money to that guy or a similar person in Kentucky (and by "similar," I mean someone who would at the same time infuriate both the racists and the much larger group of idiots with an antilibertarian agenda having little or nothing to do with race). Many thanks for any replies, and I hope all's well.
PS -- BUY gold and *especially* silver! Inflation's comin'.

rand needs to go into
rand needs to go into overdrive now .. he need alot of money to fight grayson
Bunning actually was very good in many ways...
He drilled the H out of Geithner about his taxes and voted against his nomination.
I think economically he is much better than most of congress.
But he may be confused on foreign policy however. I'm not sure how he voted on Iraq.
I felt that Rand Paul would have had a tough time against Bunning.
But now that he is stepping down, Rand is undisputedly the one.
I will support him all the more now now and I don't even live in Kentucky.

fundraising
Rand is at almost 170K so far so he might make 250K before the money bomb.
Then if the money bomb can get him up to 500K at least he will have some money base even if it not quite what he had hoped, he'll still be at least on the ballpark.
Grayson might have 3X that but....whoever the hell is giving him all that money.

I think we should focus on
I think we should focus on bringing bunnings supporters over to rand. This seems like it's working out as we all hoped.

John B., do your own "due dilligence" and tell yourself why you should or shouldn't support Rand Paul.
I did mine and I will support him.

So tell me why I should vote for Rand Paul?
Bunning was not all that bad, much better than McConnell. Bunning was an old time conservative not a neo-conservative. At seventy-seven there have been reports of senility. He said the party cut him off from campaign funds, obviously Mitch McConnel in action.
Being a Kentucky voter, why should I support Rand Paul. Nepotism isn't enough.
Bunning
Bunning is similar to Rand on domestic policy. I think the main differences would be Rand doesn't support the two occupations and he's more supportive of civil liberties.
Bunning tends to support nation building and empire expansion and he's more inclined to support big brother policies here in the "homeland."
I think bunning was one the few republicans who was actually pretty good on domestic policy so he's kind of like the best of the worst.
this is good news
Go Rand!

Time to get serious
Okay, now it's time to get serious if we expect to see Rand Paul elected in Kentucky. Now that Sen. Bunning is stepping aside it becomes more important than ever to smash the fundraising records. We must set priorities. One of the highest should be in Rand Paul. A Rand Paul win in Kentucky is the single most effective way to grow the Liberty movement.
The message sent to Kentucky, the nation and to the world that the American people are ready, willing and able to defend Liberty by electing Rand Paul will be loud, unmistakable and will energize and grow the Liberty movement for many many years.
Will we?
Agreed
This is spot on...
