I am very uncomfortable after yesterday and the Sentinel banning

I don't really feel free to post my views on anything now. Maybe that was the point of the entire thing. To bring fear and intimidation to a site that has been very effective in getting out a message of truth and hope.

Sentinel

Has Sentinel posted since he was unbanned??

Fear should never stop you

Only your personal editor (your conscience).
As long as your post respectfully, and you are relatively on-topic.
Why would there be any reason for fear?
Even if you posted something agitating, what is it you would be afraid of?
I don't think Mike is writing any e-tickets for hit and run posting.

Personally I think the more eyes, ears, and posters we have out there, the better off we are are.
Please stick around, your ideas are important.

It's Objective VS Subjective

Christianity sees everything that is non-Christian as Satanic.

You're either following God or being deceived by the Devil. It's very black and white.

Since this is all speculative to the person judging it can never be viewed as a factual instance.

So even from a Christian perspective this is why Jesus told others not to superficially pass judgment and would be in agreement with Nystrom's ruling to have the thread deleted.

Even if the Prime Minister of Israel had horns growing out of their head you should judge a tree by it's fruit--which is exactly what is allowed here on the daily paul.

That is one of the most retarted things

I have ever read.
You should read some Christian theology. Every is not black and white and very very very few things are claimed to be black and white.

I'd say not being able to spell retarded is retarded.

Maybe so

But I agree with AMC that's one of the most retarded posts ever. Too many atheists discredit themselves because they make absurd claims about religion and obviously don't understand what they're talking about.

I was wondering...

what a retart was. Is it yet another confection? Or the same confection again? Or is it a female tart? So that would be like sleeping with the woman that you dumped because she cheated on you?

The english language is so confusing sometimes...

can i say that i believe

can i say that i believe this site does a lot of a good out there?
it helps people cross the bridge from couch activism to true activism and we should be glad it's around, craziness and all.

Mike and I agree on very little, but, I agree here

someone has to keep the discussion somewhere close to the point and this is why.

For 300 years the core "management method" for humanity is to distract us.

To introduce emotional issues and distract and divide.

Every war fought in this time period has been about controlling us.

If you study war and the results of same you will see that it is a tool.

We have battles at the DP. Folks drag out how they feel about things...then they get lost in the battle.

This type of debate gets us nowhere. This type of debate makes me wonder why we can't discuss why:

"Two banking families of Britain and United States the Barclays and the Barings were famous Quakers. Quakers are a Christian sect. Their cargo ship the Willing Quaker was in the business of importing innocent Africans from Sierra Leone to North America to be sold as slaves. 20% of the slaves would die on each voyage."

These are in the group of families that own the fed and the rest of the central banks of the world.

I suggest we remain on point.

If you look to the right..TODAY this site is ON POINT. The number of divisive posts is almost zero.

Think before you post...very few Americans are working/taking action to throw these men out...this is far more important than how you feel about different characters at the DP.

Our sons and daughters are being killed and maimed in wars that will end when we stay on point and get these men out of power.

Unify

SO , tell me exactly how

SO , tell me exactly how correcting a Constitutional position ( President ), who controls the Treasury Dept. ,that is controlled by the FED that is controlled by the President , is somehow not promoting your vision & purpose. ? There were how many Presidents Killed who went against the FED & you tell me that who is President does not matter ? The President & the FED work hand in hand ,if you face reality ..Kennedy did not die in vain.

You ought to check out

You ought to check out democraticunderground if you want to see what feeling really uncomfortable feels like. They ban everything and everyone for any hint of disagreement with the democrat party. They even ban logic.

I don't think you will find a more free site on the web than Daily Paul.

Property rights? The person

Property rights? The person who owns this website should be able to do whatever he wants and we should follow the rules, no?

IF I have said anything on

IF I have said anything on this site that is not true or counter productive to Ron PAUL & C4L ,then I welcome my ban ..Michael is free to choose the call ..Please review my comments & check my vision ..I have no agenda except justice, law & order ..This is what is expected of me & I expect the same in my defence...The whole Constitution ..Otherwise get rid of the laws & rules that bind some & not others...IT's MY document as part of being an" interest party " to the system They take my monies & obeydience...I get to say what I expect.. You can change the law but until you do I expect you to honor it..That is the agreement we made ..I get to interpret & enforce....I don't care what color you are ,or where you were born, or if you are smarter than me ...The MAJORITY can be overuled ..That is the pupose of the Constitution...The President is the teeth of the FED.. Why else would they have shoot more than 1 President...

I'm also glad that Sentinel is unbanned.

I don't feel uncomfortable here.

I've always said what I felt needed saying, and I'm pretty sure that in some cases there were some eyebrows raised, and feathers ruffled too.

I've never been banned, and I regularly post in controversial and "politically incorrect" threads.

It does bug me a bit that some people are allowed to post obvious shill material and baited threads.
But, I can work around that, even though sometimes I do post an angry comment.

I feel very comfortable at the DP

First off, I really enjoy Sentinel's posts and I'm glad he's been unbanned. It sounds like the initial banning was rashly done and it has been wisely reconsidered. Good, the system works. Thanks Michael.

Second, I'm very glad the DP is a moderated site. Does anybody remember Usenet? It's been around forever and it's still kicking I think. Usenet is/was an un-moderated BB system which pre-dated the world wide web. Because it's un-moderated, it's a swamp of festering bullshit, personal attacks, and outrageous lies. It's just ridiculous and unpleasant. May the Daily Paul never become as unpleasant and un-moderated.

Hopefully, the line between what's acceptable and what's not is applied consistently and fairly. It does seem to me like it has been so far. I feel very comfortable being here. Thanks to the moderators and thank you Michael Nystrom.

Isn't this what the Federal Reserve does

monitors private funds.

A transaction is exactly like a discussion -- right?

I like this site and I'm sure I've posted "maybe" one-thing that was not "fully" liked by Michael and site-mods. Maybe.

Yet I wasn't banned.

Truth be told this is a private site -- if Michael is all cost and no revenue (profit) then he can do what he likes. If he is profitable then he will abide by the demands of the majority of users.

In 5 years this will be a very important and popular site -- far beyond what it is now.

Thank you for your support

Thank you for your support and your kind and wise words.

Speaking of usenet - have you ever read Clay Shirky's internet classic, "A group is its own worst enemy?"

http://www.shirky.com/writings/group_enemy.html

It is an excellent discussion, and one that I keep in mind always as I try to keep this site alive. Here is a little relevant snip. The whole article is well worth the read.

...as anyone who has put discussion software into groups that were previously disconnected has seen, that does happen. Incredible things happen. The early days of Echo, the early days of usenet, the early days of Lucasfilms Habitat, over and over again, you see all this incredible upwelling of people who suddenly are connected in ways they weren't before.

And then, as time sets in, difficulties emerge. In this case, one of the difficulties was occasioned by the fact that one of the institutions that got hold of some modems was a high school. And who, in 1978, was hanging out in the room with the computer and the modems in it, but the boys of that high school. And the boys weren't terribly interested in sophisticated adult conversation. They were interested in fart jokes. They were interested in salacious talk. They were interested in running amok and posting four-letter words and nyah-nyah-nyah, all over the bulletin board.

And the adults who had set up Communitree were horrified, and overrun by these students. The place that was founded on open access had too much open access, too much openness. They couldn't defend themselves against their own users. The place that was founded on free speech had too much freedom. They had no way of saying "No, that's not the kind of free speech we meant."

But that was a requirement. In order to defend themselves against being overrun, that was something that they needed to have that they didn't have, and as a result, they simply shut the site down.

Now you could ask whether or not the founders' inability to defend themselves from this onslaught, from being overrun, was a technical or a social problem. Did the software not allow the problem to be solved? Or was it the social configuration of the group that founded it, where they simply couldn't stomach the idea of adding censorship to protect their system. But in a way, it doesn't matter, because technical and social issues are deeply intertwined. There's no way to completely separate them.

What matters is, a group designed this and then was unable, in the context they'd set up, partly a technical and partly a social context, to save it from this attack from within. And attack from within is what matters. Communitree wasn't shut down by people trying to crash or syn-flood the server. It was shut down by people logging in and posting, which is what the system was designed to allow. The technological pattern of normal use and attack were identical at the machine level, so there was no way to specify technologically what should and shouldn't happen. Some of the users wanted the system to continue to exist and to provide a forum for discussion. And other of the users, the high school boys, either didn't care or were actively inimical. And the system provided no way for the former group to defend itself from the latter.

Now, this story has been written many times. It's actually frustrating to see how many times it's been written. You'd hope that at some point that someone would write it down, and they often do, but what then doesn't happen is other people don't read it.

The most charitable description of this repeated pattern is "learning from experience." But learning from experience is the worst possible way to learn something. Learning from experience is one up from remembering. That's not great. The best way to learn something is when someone else figures it out and tells you: "Don't go in that swamp. There are alligators in there."

Learning from experience about the alligators is lousy, compared to learning from reading, say. There hasn't been, unfortunately, in this arena, a lot of learning from reading. And so, lessons from Lucasfilms' Habitat, written in 1990, reads a lot like Rose Stone's description of Communitree from 1978.

This pattern has happened over and over and over again. Someone built the system, they assumed certain user behaviors. The users came on and exhibited different behaviors. And the people running the system discovered to their horror that the technological and social issues could not in fact be decoupled.

Most people who come to this site don't understand the fragility of what we have here.

Thank you again for your understanding and support.

Thnx for the link

I'll read the whole article when I get home from work.

Well the thing is

He didn't even say anything wrong, all he did was ask a question.

I honestly believe it was my religious answers and others like me that were the real problem for the moderator.

I understand this is a personal website, and not America which supposedly has freedom of speech. I have enjoyed being here, but right now, I don't feel free to speak my mind.

Christians are quickly becoming the most persecuted and censored people I know of.

Goodbye then, and good luck.

Goodbye then, and good luck.

You are free to believe whatever you want.

Well congratulations

to the "split and divide." They have finally succeeded where I didn't think they could.

Goodbye?

That's your response to someone that merely stated that they don't feel like they can freely speak their mind? That's not a very reassuring response. Seems like you're pretty quick to alienate an ally. Good luck with that, and goodbye!

No need to leave.

I can relate to part of your frustration, and understand where you are coming from to an extent. I do not know you, nor am I familiar with your posts, but to leave is not the answer.
We need our strength in numbers, and I hope you will reconsider. There needs to be some clarification as to what direction the owner feels is necessary. Until then, there will apparently be some confusion as to what is appropriate to post.

Then you are free to leave

Then you are free to leave and go someplace where you feel comfortable.

While many Ron Paul supporters are rightfully suspicious of world events, I can assure you that you are being paranoid.

Maybe that was the point of the entire thing. To bring fear and intimidation to a site that has been very effective in getting out a message of truth and hope.

There is no sinister plot at the Daily Paul. It is a personal website, run by one, overworked, underpaid supporter (me) and a bunch of volunteers. It is run on a shoestring budget, and is no one's primary vocation. Mistakes will happen. Get over it and move on. I unbanned Sentinel, but if he posted the same thread again, I'd delete it myself.

No one is forcing you to stay in a place where you feel uncomfortable. You are free to leave. But if you feel uncomfortable here, good luck feeling comfortable somewhere else. Be sure to write and tell us where you land.

As for the rest of us, we have work to do - not naval gazing, but getting Rand Paul, Adam Kokesh, RJ Harris, Peter Schiff, and Mike Vasovsky, passing HR 1207 and S 604, etc.

LOL!

That's the exact same response I get from the sheeple when I raise concerns about what's going on in this country. "Well if you don't like it why don't you just leave." It's a pathetic response from them, and it's a pathetic response from you.
