Help say fare well to my father? Part II - July 29

To the Daily Paul Family,

I received this picture, and letters from Clay Carey (aka livefreeordie) and his mother addressed to the "Thank You Department" at the P.O. Box of Daily Paul. This is a follow up to Clay's June 9th post, Help say fare well to my father? The letter reads:

Michael,

Mother wanted me to post the enclosed thank you letter and photo of dad on the Daily Paul. The letter, I could do, but have no skill at scanning and doing the photo. I also did not really want to post it on the original thread (95755), as it would get 'bumped' before all those who sent her cards would have a chance to read it. She received a little over 150 cards from all over the world. She was amazed to say the least. I am also very thankful for all the attention given to my mother during this trying time. I truly want to thank my Daily Paul family for all their consideration. Enclosed is her letter and the photo of dad. I know you are busy, but please poste them however you see fit for us. Thanks again, to you and all the DPers.

YOUR servant in freedom, Clay Carey, aka livefreeordie.

Clay's mother's letter is reproduced below

Thank you very much, Clay, and I'm sorry for the delay in posting this. The letter is postmarked July 3, 2009. The Thank You Department here has been a little backed up recently. All of our thoughts, prayers and love are with you and your family.

Peace and love to your

Peace and love to your father and your family. I lost my father just about a year ago. I was fortunate enough that with the job that I have being a truck driver that I was able to visit my father one last time and told him that I loved him before he went. Seeing my father like that made me wish more than ever that we were able to see into each others lives and know what they knew, because my dad deep down inside had a mind, will, and spirit as hard as iron. I could see the strength and love in his eyes, and I could feel the energy emanating from that mans skull. It almost felt like I could read his thoughts, and I wish I would have known a lot more about what my father felt and thought about things, but he was always the type that kept a lot of stuff to himself.

My father went through a lot growing up. He didnt always have a good life growing up but he turned it into a good life. I often wondered what my father thought about the way the world was becoming, especially from his perspective as someone who was born in 1936. I was born in 1964, and even I can see how the world and people have changed in my lifetime, and I cant imagine what he must have thought about the changes he has seen.

But now he knows the truth. Its not just faith anymore, its real knowledge. He knows why we are here, what our purpose was, and if there really is a God or not. And in that I am jealous because a constant pursuit of real truth and real knowledge is what I have always sought and I think what most people really want. And I am somewhat glad that he doesnt have to live to face what we have to face in our lives. My father never saw the inauguration of Obama and he will not have to see this nation on the verge of being torn to shreds before we can make it right again for our children.

My father never took any crap from anyone. He always said what was on his mind .. whether it was a stranger, an employer, or whoever. I always respected him for that, and now being the eldest of the family the responsibility is now passed on to me, and I will continue to do my best to stand up for what I feel is right.

The best way to say goodbye to your father is to always strive to make your father proud of who you are.

The Carey family is in my thoughts and prayers.

...as is the Lawson family regarding what Mike posted below.

My Pop-Pop joined him a couple weeks later.

I'm so sorry for your loss Clay. You know we were going through the same thing at the same time. I hope they have squirels in heaven, cause Donald Carey and Ross Lawson should go shoot a couple. Those old boys were about as tough as nails; may we fill their shoes proudly.

My heart goes out to you Clay, Mike...

Mike, I'm sorry to hear

Mike, I'm sorry to hear about your father, too. I lost my dad in 2005. So I guess Sam Nystrom is up there with the boys, Donald & Ross and I hope they're having a good old time up there.

But really, I think they're the lucky ones - we're the poor saps left behind. And yes, may we fill their shoes proudly. We all do the best we can.

I expect my dad will meet up with them...

He's been in Heaven for a while, gracious and wise as the day is long. (I still miss him) He loved going hunting with his grandson. (I may just learn to hunt just to join them ;)

Tears

The stars are scattered all over the sky like shimmering tears, there must be great pain in the eye from which they trickled.

His Blessings on the Carey clan.

My condolences too

And I'd also like to add how cool it is that so many, from so far away, took the time to send a letter.

Howdy. Now is the time for Native American teaching.

My condolences as well, Clay.

That was a moving post, and makes one reflect how short life is, and how important it is to enjoy each day like it is your last.

We are, there is no way to deny it, a big family, linked eternally through love.

I too could not agree more....

We are a big family, and yes, we are linked. Thank you for sharing this story with us, and thank you Michael for posting it on the front page. My condolences go out to the family, and loved ones. Losing a family member is the hardest thing a person has to deal with. Please know you are in my prayers.

I couldn't agree more.

A family, how appropriate a word.

I love my brother and yet we fight.

I love my sister and yet we drift apart some times.

It makes my hugs with my siblings mean that much more.

You need to be more present here Mr. Nystrom ...

You can direct this site with the respect that you have.

Some presence, but your burden is to only have some presence.

God Bless.
