Silver Coins: Government Issued or Private?

0 votes

I am just starting to purchase one ounce silver coins at shops around my city. They offer me the Us mint coins with a higher premium and other private coins. Then I look on message boards and see apmex and others selling their coins for 14.50 or 15 dollars a piece. The eagles look nice and have some collector value but is it really worth it to pay 2 or 3 dollars more? Silver eagles or privately made coins?!

SILVER EAGLES IN GOLD AND SILVER

I'm a broker and 95%+ of Gold and Silver investors in the USA should go with Eagles in both Silver and Gold due to privacy on sell backs, legal tender laws, and the fact that they garner the highest bid prices when you go to sell back.

When you think how many new people will be coming to Gold and Silver in the coming years, you will want to have the #1 investment vehicle.

The #2 vehicle for investing in Gold and Silver? Canadian Maples... they are private on the silver side.

See other dealers don't give you the skinny, we do ;-)

cull

I personally buy 90% silver cull U.S. Coins(anything minted before 1965). Lots of dimes.
I think the collector coins and non-U.S.mint monies will be harder to use to pay for things if the time comes. Don't pay the extra for a "collector" silver coin, in the end, when you need it to pay for something, the looks of the coin wont matter as much as the silver itself.

I am no expert

but I figure that my Eagles will bring more when I sell them.

I have been selling some gold recently and found that my "off the beaten path" 100 Coronas 1 ounce coins from Austria were cheap but since they are not well known they are hard to get rid of. Gold Eagles sell like hot cakes.
