Anyone else noticed how commercials typically portray "white males" as the dumb-ass?

Has anyone else noticed how commercials and TV movies tend to portray the "white male" as a stupid dorky dumb-ass?

Typically the "set up" is an situational conflict between a white male and a female or minority, with the outcome protraying something negative about the white guy.

I started noticeing this irritating trend several years ago and of course have my theories of why this is happening. Just wondering if I am alone in this point of view?

No

I never noticed that...........

The Ron Jeremy effect, I think?

Ugly, pudgy, hairy, poorly-attired and seemingly dumb-ass white, middle-aged males contra attractive, 20-30-something, trim, fashionably-dressed females. Usually, they are in a husband-wife situation, which makes it all the more unbelievable.

Yep, spouse and I have noticed and remarked on this to each other for at least 10 years. We haven't watched TV for a couple years now.

But, Ralph Waldo, pay attention to the woman in any cleaner commercial. Mop, spray, broom, Swiffer, etc... If there is any man depicted, he is seen as a lump, on a recliner, and the woman has to mop/sweep/clean around him.

Madison Avenue can kiss my fat Irish arse.

Yes, I have noticed that. But I think TV commercials

also portray women as dumb-asses. So sad. For instance, the commercials pushing Gardasil! One less, my ass. The women in that commercial sound like brainwashed, uninformed idiots to me. And the birth control commercials advocating one period a year!!?? Ditto for that. That must be just GREAT for your hormones. Imagine what that must do to your body.
And lets not forget the women pushing Nutra Sweet and Splenda. And melamine-laced baby formula! Eeww!
But hey it's all FDA approved, so no worries! Right?
So, the average lemming TV watcher will listen to those paid actresses, and thinking them to be ever so clever, (much more clever than a man?), will blindly follow the dictates of the corporate MSM, at the peril of their health. :(

Rummy

I think it was Rumsfeld who was the CEO & gave the go to produce & market this vaccine. So who's pockets do the sales of it most profit??

Behind oil, it's pharmaceuticals...

Obama = O.ne B.ig A.ss M.istake A.merica

Obama = O.ne B.ig A.ss M.istake A.merica

Think about who they're selling to.

If the customer is the white housewife, OF COURSE the ad is going to show the woman being the clever one who buys the product over the objections of the stupid husband.

No $hit

It's sad that you even have to explain that here. It seems that the so-called "dumbing down of America" has made its way to this forum.

Your non-substantive post

Once again proves the point, that you have nothing to offer. Please feel free to exercise your right to not post at all.

Yes, so what

the whole point is to divide and conquer. They do it so you will be pissed and say that's not right blah, blah, blah. They are doing the same thing with immigration. They let the country be over run and give them services and the citizens get pissed and blah, blah, blah everyone is pissed at each other and then they pass laws that further undermine your rights. Then they start on someone else. I am sure I will be next and I will write a thread saying hey! have you noticed all the commercials making fun of old nutty women, I'm pissed I want a law to make them stop that. Old nutty women shouldn't be the only ones made fun of. Oh, wait I've fallen and I can't get up. or Where's the beef. LOL It's late, sorry past my bedtime.

It goes far back

Even to the 1950's. The housewives were smart and clever, and the husbands were pipe-smoking idiots.

In the 1970s, The National Lampoon put out a comedy record called, "That's Not Funny... That's Sick!" John Belushi played a hapless husband who thought his morning breakfast beverage, with pulp-like freshness was the real thing. The joke came when he turned the tables on his wife and yelled at her to, "Throw this f-ing stuff in the toilet and get me some REAL orange juice!"

It's part of the dumbing-down of America, but it happens in Europe too, though not as frequently.

No, I didn't notice

but now that you mention it...

Yup, and I also noticed that

Yup, and I also noticed that whenever they portray a criminal, like the ad I saw for a security system, it is a white guy never a minority.

My karma ran over your dogma~

Don't watch tv then

it's that simple.
Race should not be an issue, and by the way, the MSM wants everyone to be dumb sheep.

would we be as upset

if black men were made the fools?
why is a liberty movement so focused on race?
we are supposed to rise above this.

I would be just as upset.

The "race" (more like ethnicity...I believe in only one race..the human race) doesn't matter. The point is that ALL discrimination is wrong!

well to sit here and concentrate

on the portrayal of white men as buffoons certainly lends some credibility to what we are portrayed as. i'd much rather be portrayed as dunce than have to drink at a separate water fountain or be denied a table at a restaurant. we really have no idea what discrimination is. i can't believe i'm having this conversation here.

I can't either.

And it's becoming more and more common.

It's amazing (and offensive) to me how many of you...

Jump all over these "threatened white people" posts.

It's called marketing.

1. Most commercials are targeted towards middle class women
2. The middle class is comprised mostly of white people

Done.

So, then....

"Most commercials are targeted towards middle class women"

So women are supposed to see men as stupid? Why does anyone have to be portrayed as stupid? Can't we respect each other?

I shouldn't have to explain this

It's not about "respect" or anything like that. It's just humor - which is a marketing tool.

You also notice

there is no such thing as a racial act against a white hetrosexual American. I guess we only commit such acts. LOL

I've noticed the same thing going on

in the media for years. Lately, they seem to be ramping it up quite a bit. It is psychological warfare against those most likely to resist. It also serves as a kind of divide and conquer strategy to set different grioups against one another and thereby weaken them.

I know this seems like a vast conspiracy

And it may be to some extent at the source.

However the reason why most companies do that is to avoid lawsuits, similar to why is it that adult man who is killed in a movie.

Because people are often offended (or were in the past) when seeing a child/woman killed or severely injured.

Lawsuits?

No. It's called marketing.

I don't think you have any clue of what you're talking about

It's more about Al Sharpton than random 'marketing'.

Most middle class white women are not into watching white men be made into fools by blacks and hispanics.

The reverse would resort to cries of racism.

And if you seriously believe the contrary than you must be blind to the last 60 years of affirmative action and bullshit where no one can even challenge Obama without a cry of racism and he's half-white.

That's true.

But maybe we shouldn't degrade ANYONE?

The OP is a racist

This has been established on his previous "threads".

One of the principle efforts of the liberty movement is the promotion of individuality, which is the cure for racism.

"op is a racist" I'm more

"op is a racist" I'm more concerned if he farted. did yooouu fart dizzle?

You are full of crap!

You haven't established anything other than the obvious fact that YOU DON'T HAVE A VALID POINT TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE DISCUSSION.

Therefore - You have to resort to "name calling". (You know that grammer school technique perfected and used by people like Bill O Riley and Sean Hannity).

One of these days you will learn that "name calling" simply "Blows your Cover"!

BTW - If you don't have something of value to add to the discourse, please feel free to exercise your right to post somewhere else! I can assure you we will do fine without you!

Same old nonsense

from you.
