Whatever happen to Lay-away-way?

My family are the Lay-away-way kings. No interest! What a great concept. But of without compounding interest Keynes fails. I remember a quote from Einstein "compounding interest is the most powerful force in the universe".

You pay it off, you get your item. If not, then you don't get your item. Simple as that, and nobody truly gets hurt.

K-Mart is bringing it back.

K-Mart has been advertising they have lay-away available.

I know why Wal-Mart and other stores stopped lay-away....Money
They decided they could get more money out of you if you had to get their credit card (where they might give you a 10% on sales items they went up 30% on to mark down 15% and charge you 29.99% interest on)
I was told this by a Wal-Mart district manager last year...who was fed up..getting ready to hire a lawyer and sue their assets off..I hope she won.

Kohls still has that. It was actually instituted last year before Christmas to boost sales. Needless to say, I bought my wifes Christmas presents there because of that :)

stores would be smart to bring that back, I think a lot of us will need to do it.
