Update - Weekend study - Energy from Thorium

In addition to our normal duties of educating others about monetary policy and spreading the message of liberty, I propose that we start to also advocate for specific policy objectives in other areas: namely energy.

Energy can be a very divisive and political topic. Some people object to using oil for energy because of its impact on the environment and/or because it seems as though production is starting to peak (i.e. It does not make for a good long-term energy solution). Some also dislike coal for its environmental impact as well.

On the clean energy side: solar, wind, tidal, and more energy efficient devices (cleantech) - All of these will be PART of the solution to growing global demand for energy.

Natural gas is also clean, but reserves would be depleted faster than most people estimate if we became too heavily dependent on it.

Then there's nuclear energy...about which I must admit, I'm certainly NOT an expert. But just think of all the controversy that has surrounded it in the past. Chernobyl and Three Mile Island, along with all the nuclear waste that's out there, and the potential for the technology to fall into the wrong hands and be used to produce weapons.

But what if there were a way for nuclear energy to be much safer, produce little to NO waste (even help with dispensing of some waste that already exists), and be NON-CONDUCIVE to the production of weapons-grade material.

Who could object to such a technology, provided it was economical to pursue it?

According to research I started doing a few months ago, such a technology exists...but it's like the Ron Paul of the nuclear industry. The nuclear establishment hasn't paid it much attention.

Energy from Thorium is an issue that's been flying below the radar for some time, but the conversation is starting to pick up.

Senators Harry Reid and Orrin Hatch have already had some involvement in promoting this technology. However, what I would like to see happen is for those of us in the r3volution to steal some of their "thunder," so to speak (THORium - Thor being the God of Thunder).

We have all witnessed the effect WE have had on the public discussion of monetary policy and Big Brother-type government policies. WE HAVE POWER, and it is growing EXPONENTIALLY. I say we broaden our message a bit to appeal to a wider audience. Let's harness the vast POWER of our r3volutionary network to affect the public consciousness once more (and take credit for it later...or not ;-)

Let's talk to them about energy - clean energy - Thorium.

So set aside some time this weekend to start researching energy from thorium.
