There are ten (10) States that have a Constitutional right to appoint their Federal Senators and not use a popular election. Article five (5) of the U.S. Constitution says"no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate". (read more)

Damn right!
Imagine a senator, appointed by state legislature, voting to send the money from his states population to DC, where a third or more is wasted, and the rest comes back to the state with conditions to be followed or the money forfeited.
Think he/she would last long?

I only counted nine
I only counted nine states, but it would be a good thing to see the state legislatures challenge this.
Of course the people of those states need to be informed as to why they will not elect a federal senator.

Good Arguments on the Story
I in favor of repealing the 17th Amendment because I feel the States are not truly represented. How often does the Senator comes back to make his or her report to the State Legislature each year? How often does the State Legislature request of it Senators to represent them at the Federal level? What I sometime perceive that the popular vote for Senators are what they bring home the pet projects for the largest campaign donors to return the favors in keeping them in office. I am sure the Senators do bring home federal money for construction project so the State and local levels don't have to pony up a lot money and create National parks, but what about protecting the States rights from Federal intrusion or mandates.
