i have a better idea

how about they just legalize marijuana. that would save tons of money on prison staff, space, food, court cost, judges/DA's salary etc. etc.

the good news is that you could still fire the "188 deputies and almost 300 civilian workers" because the gestapo would no longer be needed.
less government, more freedom, problem solved!

The people in that town are stupid.

At the bottem of that story it says they are waiting in line for hours for tags. Shoot if the cops pull you over over just tell them you couldnt get your taps and you will take the cash strapped count to a jury trial over it.

notice how nothing bad has

notice how nothing bad has even happened yet and they are calling for troops. I for one would like to see what sort of police innovations the people of that county make once police patrols are diminished.

Bmore: You are right.

There are lots of people with guns everywhere. Deputize some, and there you go. Taking care of things internally is always the best option. These officials there are too use to the bailout mentality and in this case the preemptive bailout mentality.
