In Brazil it's estimated a household can save up to 1157 gallons of water per year if the family pees in the shower
Can we do it for a green, er yellow, er green world? To save the rainforest? To save the environment? Come on, can we do it for the children?

The toilets in our house are
The toilets in our house are approximately 30 years old. I'm not certain, but I think they use 5 to 7 gallons per flush (I'll measure it at some point). Anyhow, a few months ago I started not flushing as often. I only do that when it's just urine and only a night when everyone else is asleep (I tend to work late on the computer).
If I save 3 flushes per day at 7 gallons per flush (not sure on the # of gallons), we end up saving 21 gallons daily, 640 gallons monthly & 7,665 gallons yearly.
We have well water & septic. The way I figure, saving just a few flushes per day can result in less wear and tear on our water pump, less electricity used, less water drained from the ground, less water in our septic system, etc. Maybe it helps the environment a bit, too.
