US Rep. Tsongas (Massachusetts) meeting on Obama health care proposal in Chelmsford, Mass Aug. 8, 2009. Rep. Tsongas stated that abortion would not be covered under the proposed plan because of the Hyde Amendment prohibiting the use of public funds for the procedure. She also stated that illegal aliens would not be covered. Many reports on the proposed plan say otherwise.

800 people showed up for the meeting but only 400 were allowed in the hall.

She, of all people, should be against government-controlled health care (or anything else!). Her late husband Paul succumbed to cancer and other illnesses after a long battle, and she was elected to effectively take his place. Paul was a Democrat yet was pretty moderate when it came to government spending. Perhaps she needs to be reminded of a quote:

"If anyone thinks the words government and efficiency belong in the same sentence, we have counseling available." -Paul Tsongas

That is quite obvious, LOL. Hopefully, those DP'ers in Mass will keep this quote of her late husband's in mind if they happen to attend any public meetings with her.
