"Required" Republican Senate Leadership Survey

0 votes

I received in the mail a "survey" from the Republican Leadership Committee. Anybody else get this? They "required" you to send money even if you don't want to fill out the survey or don't choose to support the Republican Leadership Committee. What follows is my response:

Dear “Friend”:

I’m in receipt of a letter from you stating that my “immediate attention is required [emphasis in original] on a confidential...matter”

First of all, what do you mean by REQUIRED? Are you going to put me in jail if I don’t answer this REQUIRED survey?

Then it goes on to say that I “have been selected to represent [my] local voting district in the Republican Senate Leadership Survey.”

Woah there – I don’t represent anyone but myself, unlike you people in Congress who claim to do the will of the people and then do the opposite.

“Your answers to this Survey are important [emphasis in original] “

Well, thank you very much for saying so, but you were so dismissive of me and my candidate, Representative Ron Paul, A REPUBLICAN, during the presidential primary process. Now you find what I have to say is “important”? What’s changed?

“Through this survey, you can help us focus our battle against the Obama Democrats’ aggressive push to expand the federal government into every area of our lives and businesses that will create a bloated welfare-state with sky-high taxes, limited freedoms, and a culture of dependence.”

The “Obama Democrats” are not the only ones who aggressively pushed to “expand the federal government into every area of our lives and businesses.” What about good old Republican statist expansions, like the PATRIOT ACT”? And what about the TARP act, the STIMULUS PACKAGE and the CASH FOR CLUNKERS garbage legislation that you blame solely on Obama’s Democrats that would not have passed were it not for the support of your fellow Republican Senators – my so-called “representatives”? Shouldn’t they share your wrath for aggressively pushing to expand the federal government? What happened to the cheerleading section of the Republican Party for government expansion that was so prevalent during the George W. Bush era?

“Because it is cost-prohibitive to send a Survey to every registered Republican in your area – your answers and those of a few other good Republicans will represent the views and opinions of ALL Republicans living in your voting district.”

This is wrong on so many points. First of all, why waste your resources sending out a meaningless survey that is cost-prohibitive? Why spend money that you don’t have? Thought that was in the purview of Obama’s Democrats? Second of all, again, I ONLY represent myself. I am not comfortable representing any one else – let alone the neocon war-mongering Republicans in my district. I’ve been to our County meetings – believe me, they don’t share my views OR opinions.

DO NOT DESTROY YOUR SURVEY! The enclosed Republican Senate Leadership survey is an OFFICIAL REPUBLICAN PARTY DOCUMENT. Your Survey is REGISTERED IN YOUR NAME ONLY and MUST BE ACCOUNTED FOR upon completion of this project. {Emphasis in original.}

What’s with the dramatics? It’s only a flipping piece of paper that I NEVER ASKED FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! [emphasis mine].

“If you decide not to represent your local voting district in this important Republican Leadership Survey – please RETURN YOUR SURVEY DOCUMENT – AT ONCE – IN THE ENVELOPE PROVIDED.”

Okie doke. Please see enclosed. Maybe you meant to send it to someone who gives a s**t. [Cleaned up for this forum.]

“Make no mistake. Your participation in this survey is vital to our Party’s and America’s future...”

In that order??

"As you are aware, on November 4, 2008, our Party was dealt a major setback – but we can’t spend our time looking back and WE CAN’T WALK AWAY.”

Maybe our Party SHOULD spend some time “looking back” – looking back at the reasons we had a big loss in the last several elections. If we weren’t so involved in a senseless war, in eavesdropping on our fellow Americans, in saying it was okay to torture other people – as long as we called it something nice and sanitary like “enhanced interrogation” do you think we would have lost big? Maybe if you looked back at how shabbily you treated fellow Republicans who happened to agree with Ron Paul’s TRUE CONSERVATIVE philosophy, you would have been busily growing your ranks instead of licking our wounds.

I can go on and on, point by point. But I’ll only make one more comment, on the Support Reply Form, you give me 3 options. The last one was quite amusing: “No, I do not wish to participate in this Survey, nor do I wish to make a donation to help the Republican Party. I am returning my Survey Document along with a contribution of $11 to help cover the cost of tabulating and redistributing my Survey.”

That last part is a joke, right? Well, here is my uncompleted survey, you can send it to some other mindless dupe. And by the way, collect the $11 from him/her.

Warmest regards,

Shoot

I never read the letter. Just fill out the survey and where it says contribution info. I just write Ron Paul in big red letters and send it back in the postage paid envelope provided. They keep sending them and I keep sending them back with same reply.

I received one also about 8

I received one also about 8 weeks ago or something like that. (Just turned 50) lol Anyone, I wrote them a letter back telling them under no conditions will I be contributing any money, voting for any of their candidaates unless they break rank from the Industrial War Machine, anti American Freedom policies etc. I also told them to send the survey to somebody else to collect their 11 bucks.

I ripped them for net vetting McCain's illegitmate birth certificate, and for even putting him on the ballot in the first plaace. I ripped them for throwing Sara Palin into the National scene without any prior warning. I believe the Republicans threw the election on purpose to let NObama be the Pres like the NWO croonies wanted.

I received that piece of trash too...and did the same thing you did.

Hope they spent...

a LOT on return postage. They need a good scolding to get back to their roots. That one section on "we lost big, but we can't afford to look back" took the cake for me. Don't you people even want to know WHY you lost big??? Sheesh!

That is SO funny!

Great job. They are SUCH idiots...no end to their moronic little antics that only make them even less popular and more annoying.

Thanks!

I couldn't let that one go. There was just SO much more I could have responded to in that letter but I DO have a life. :)
