The Perfect Solution to Senior Health Care
... email I received today:
The Perfect Solution to Senior Health Care
While discussing the upcoming Universal Health Care Program with my sister-in-law the other day, I think we have found the solution. I am sure you have heard the ideas that if you ’re a senior you need to suck it up and give up the idea that you need any health care. A new hip? Unheard of. We simply can't afford to take care of you anymore. You don't need any medications for your high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. Let’s take care of the young people. After all, they will be ruling the world very soon.
So here is the solution. When you turn 70, you get a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives. Of course, you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head and all the health care you need! Need teeth, great! Need glasses, no problem. Need hip, knee, kidney, lung, heart? Well bring it on. And who will be paying for all of this. The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care. And, since you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income tax.
I really think we have found a Perfect Solution!

I don't know about this
Eventually we would run out of Congress critters!
How about, for free health care, we all stop paying income taxes? They put us all in jail for evasion and BAM! Free health care! Or start a ponzi scheme like madoff (likeabandit).
Insurance (Public or Private) is a Racket
Why is healthcare so different from everything else? Sure there a certain emotional factor when we are talking about our lives but what is the rationalization for the attitude that everyone else should spend whatever it takes to attempt to treat our maladies?
The medical/insurance industrial complex holds us hostage. They use fear of what might happen to extort premiums for a scheme that pays providers to experiment on us. The sad reality is the premiums are mostly used to invest in the markets in order to generate profit for the stockholders. Insurance companies are not in the business of paying claims. Their business is investing premiums. Now the government wants to mandate the purchase of insurance from for profit corporations. We shouldn't have a fascist government industrial system to pay for medical experimentation on the citizens.
The public option is even worse. Every year we get a statement from the Social Security Administration documenting how much has been “contributed” by our employers and ourselves towards our future benefits. All this money is gone. Every penny. For us to receive anything it must be taken from the current and future taxpayers. The government can't provide us with anything without taking it from someone else. A government option healthcare plan will only expand this Ponzi scheme.
Admittedly there are illnesses and injuries the medical profession can fix for us. For providing that service they deserve to be compensated. When the outcome of expensive treatments is the same as the outcome without the treatment there should not be compensation. If you took your car to the mechanic for repairs and the mechanic performed repairs that didn't fix your car would you pay? Don't we expect a mechanic to provide a warranty? Why not doctors?
When the healthcare industry is experimenting on us they should compensate us. If someone tries to experiment on animals, PETA goes wild. It's against the law to do medical experiments on prison inmates. Somehow it's just fine to experiment on senior citizens and other “covered” individuals. Better yet, we have figured out a way to get everyone else to pay for it. At least the healthcare industry is honest when they call it practicing.
Health insurance is a racket, charities should provide charity and the government should not be in the charity business.
I think this is a great
I think this is a great idea!!!
I really do believe that the next martyrs for America will be seniors..
MARCH ON!!
An Eye for an Eye will ONLY make this world go blind~Ghandi~
Got this a while back too....
It isn't a bad idea, really. I prefer my solution to out-of-control health costs:
Kill all the lawyers.

"The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them." - Patrick Henry
By the time a person reaches 65 or 70 years of age,
they have worked for 45 or 50 years, maybe put their life on the line in a few wars, and paid their taxes all those years, and have nothing left to contribute.
Who needs them?
Now, they are a drain on the system!
Let them go!

What's sad about this post
What's sad about this post is that I can actually see this possibly happening if seniors start getting turned away from medical care. There are homeless people who already commit crimes in order to be sent to prison for a few months (during the winter?) so that they have a bed to sleep in and meals to eat. All it takes is one senior who is desperate for health care and is boiling mad because of being turned away... Let's hope that none of this happens.
...
Some know too
... what do they have to loose ???
On the news years ago I saw a Judge and former WW II Marine (himself) sentence another former WW II Marine for killing his ex-son-in-law with a .45 when the ex-son-in-law came over to pick up his son (court ordered visitation). The judge said he understood why he shot him, but he broke the law and must be sentenced for 1st degree murder. The former WW II Marine said, I'm an old man I lived my life, now my grandson is now free to live his. True.
Lucky for the govt, my wife does not want to ever be operated on, when her time is up she wants to go. True, I feel the same way. Fu@k Obama's Socialist crap.
Very funny but in reality
dont seniors already get free health care known as medicare.Im not a big proponate of universial healthcare but isnt it hypicritical for seniors to go to these meetings and bitch when there the ones who are already recieving free healthcare.
The people at the meetings
The people at the meetings aren't asking to get free health care, they are trying to prevent the government from taking it away and from taking away their options.
...
No I believe what they are asking for
is not to expand health benefits beyond thier age groups. My point being that after you have gotten all the lousy crooked bankers out thier jams and after the goverment wants to tax us for farting .HEALTH CARE is finally where we draw the line! This is the one program that we finally say enough is enough. The one program that finally tries to adress the issues of .the little guy and this is where we put up a fight!I I really dont know exactly what Obama care is because I havnt read the bill which I dont think anyone at those congressional meeting have either. But if a certain age bracket already recieves medical deductions isnt only fair that we all recieve them?
It is not free !!!
... Social Security and Medicare taxes are known as the FICA tax. You still have to pay about $500 (Plan A or B ?) a year out of your Social Security that keeps going up, nullifying any COLA . Also I have a $1700 plan "F" high-deductible for Plan B (A&B). Plan "B" (private) cost me in the high $600s.
Also I have to pay $25 to see a VA doctor, $50 for a specialist, and it is cheaper to buy generic med's at Walmart than the VA. The VA was suppose to be free if you served. 5 Years in the Marines later, not free.
You are paying too much for
You are paying too much for plan F, switch to plan J with Mutual of Omaha. Plan J covers more and is cheaper then plan F. I work in the senior health market so I see the most competitive products out there. You should save a few hundred a year with that switch. Seniors on fixed income are getting screwed right now, see it every day.
Thanks Chris
... I'm with "Country Companies" right now. They have a better financial rating than BC & BS and usually a little lower. It appears on line Mutual of Omaha only offers full plans A, F, and G in Illinois. I imagine (have not checked yet) that Country Companies does not have plan "J" either in Illinois ?
... I misspoke above (↑) what Plan "B" costs out of my SS check, it is NOT $500 + a year, but $96.40 monthly (out of sight out of mind).
Well Im not a senior yet.
So I really dont know but what I do know is a number of years ago I lost my job and couldnt pay my health insurance. So I went to the VA to get some to get some blood cholesterol medicine. and except for 6 dollars for medicine I didnt have to pay anything. Now I served 4 years on active and 12 in recerve.4 of which was inactive. The VA will only pay for my primary care meaning no eye or dental etc. But I wish I had your setup for my wife she cant even get health insurance because of pre-existing conditions. That means everything medical wise we have to pay for out of our pocket Its no fun when you have to worry about what will happen to your wife if something bad were to come up.I do believe healthcare has to be reformed I just dont think a massive overhaul is nessecary or feasable .I would like to see it all subsidized.

... but by the grace of providence go I.
You are entitled to eye care at the VA, probably not dental unless service connected or below poverty level. They will even give you free glasses. Hint, tell them you have no glasses or they will see if your old glasses still work, and won't give you new one. BTDT.
I want you to use the Framingham Risk Assessment Tool for Estimating 10-year Risk of Developing Hard CHD (Myocardial Infarction and Coronary Death) on line to see if you really need/want cholesterol medicine. Cholesterol medicine in my opinion is more of "Cash Cow" for big Pharma. My M.D. pushes Cholesterol med's but will tell you, "If I treat seven patients aggressively (with Cholesterol medicine), I only help one." My wife has bad cholesterol and statistically will outlive me (with good cholesterol), I'm a male.
See percentage wise if two or three percent is it worth it to you (treating) to not have a coronary event in the next ten years. Framingham Study → http://hp2010.nhlbihin.net/atpiii/calculator.asp?usertype=prof
P.S. When your wife goes on Medicare, pre-existing conditions are covered and waived (no time limit) by some companies for plan B or 90 day grace period other companies from time she goes on Medicare. You also can instead get a FREE HMO or PPO like HUMANA where the government gives HUMANA (example) several thousand dollars to take care of you.
Yea Richard were still about 20 years
away from that. But both me and my wife have been getting in better shape she has a knee that needed surgery but she has been excersizing it and it has gotten alot better.I didnt realize I could get eye coverage from the VA after turning 40 I started having troube reading as all of us do but I wanted to avoid bifocals as much as possible because the more you use them the worse your condition gets..Im 45 and I finally did get a pair to read with but I only use them when there is weak lighting. I would like to get lazer surgery some day but I will gladly save my money for that. As I beieve this is somthing I should pay for myself instead of the VA which probalbly would not cover me anyway. My blood cholesterol is not real high I think its a little over 200 but the VA doctor wanted to get it below 200 so he prescribed stat which I take a 1/2 pill a day.I guess though the best thing for me to do is get in better shape which Im really trying to do my highschool weight was around 180 im 6"1 .I ballooned up to 220 in the past 5 years but now Im running and Ive stopped smoking im now down to 210 and with a few slip ups I havnt smoked in 6 months.. I really let myself go when my bussiness went belly up .I was in the satillite business and was doing real well until about a year ago when the economy started to tank and everyone stopped buying satillite.I have a very small natural gas residual from the family property which is keeping me afloat .If it wasnt for that I would really be in trouble.I am now looking for another line of work. Anyway once again thank for the advice.
We have close parallels
... except for tobacco. I'm 6'2" and fighting the battle of the bulge at #225. I hoped to be down to 200 by this time. Not.
Since you did satellites, try appliance repair. I just did refrigerators and made a killing. What's funny I stayed away from refrigeration problems (sealed system) and cherry-picked the electric-mechanical easy stuff. If you can get an experienced "good' repair man to go along with as a go-for you could be fixing them in the time it took you to learn satellite. $3000 a day is easy to do with the right expensive metropolitan yellow page advertising and willingness to work. If you don't like refrigerators, a washer and drier guy I know is now living and skiing in the Swiss Alps. True.
Godspeed !
My total cholesterol is 207 and my VA doctor says it is okay. If I ate right I could be much lower. I try to exercise every other day at the health club. I did the Framingham Test (above) right after that post. I have a 12 % chance of a coronary event in the next ten years. I just ate a Pa-Pa Johns cheese & sausage pizza to celebrate the good news, hahaha. True !
How does the VA work? Do you need a military ID or just
name, SSN, dd-14 or what? I need a check-up. I did 8 years of the reserves.

... is right, you need the DD-214.
Beware, if you don't meet the low income requirements or service connected you will be rejected. Senator Obama promised to fix that, Hahaha !
I'm grandfathered, I got in when the getting was good.
P.S. If you are having male problems, you can blame it on STD (if any) while in the service. You may even be able to draw disability. True.
Update !
Changes to the VA Priority Group 8 Enrollment Restriction
Click Here to see if you are elgible → http://www.va.gov/healtheligibility/apps/enrollmentcalculator/
You need to bring a copy
of what called your dd214 I believe that what its called to the VA .It show your military record and what you qualify for .It will say what kind of discharge you recieved . I think I recieved full primary care because I did 4 years active and then 4 years inactive. At the VA they will then tell you what you qualify for.
It's not free. See the below link.

Richard...just when I was beginning to think that....
you were coming down with "old timers" disease you go and completely vindicate yourself with such a brilliant article...S/F (Marines only need 4 bullets and a K-bar).
My Marine buddy from FL
... sent it to me this morning. He flew his flag upside down January 20, 2009. I almost got him to vote for Paul, but he was more interested in defeating, "Obammy". He voted for McCain. He's flying the Gadsden flag along with the Stars and Bars right now as a symbol of his disagreement with the current government.
Addendum
... in Cuba during the Missile Crisis all us Marines in my artillery battery armed with .45 Colts, nobody thought to bring .45 ammo for us. The only one that had .45 ammo was a motor-T pouge for his personal wild-west chrome plated six-shooter. We traded some K-Bars to some Seabees for dum-dums. Same thing when they sent us, the first Marine unit to go to Nam. When then sent my half of the convoy (9th Marine Expeditionary Brigade '64) from Da Nang to Saigon, all the rifle ammo was up at Da Nang. They call that Military Intelligence.
Why limit the amount of ammo?
Don't they make 30-round clips?
I don't have that problem
... 30 Round Clips ? Shhh.... 30's are child's play ;)
Don't delete this post!
I actually think this suggestion is very comprehensive and has some redeeming qualities. One change I would make is to offer a 30-round clip of 7.62mm as opposed to 4 bullets. Excellent suggestion!
