C4Lers Ejected From Georgia Health Care Town Hall For Mentioning Constitution

So now I can check one off my "bucket list" -- I've been kicked out of a public "town hall" meeting for doing nothing (complete with police escort). Sweeet.

The meeting was last night, at the Georgia 4th Congressional district in Clarkston, held by Congressman Hank Johnson (D). The facilities of the Clarkston campus of Georgia Perimeter College were used.

A number of us liberty-minded folks (C4L and otherwise), and some GOP faithful showed up to ensure, at the minimum, skepticism accounted for and to see a real debate fostered over the proposed national health care legislation. As far as I know there was no "right wing" or otherwise organized effort to "swamp" the meetings.

By contrast, it was obvious that organized left-wing groups turned out in force. People sporting "Teamster" colors were plentiful, as well as Obama acolytes and "single payer" health care system advocacy groups.

The original time for the meeting was 7pm. Within the day before, it was mysteriously moved up to 6:15 -- perhaps to make sure that working people hit the maximum rush hour. No matter; I got there around 5:30, so I got an early-enough place in line to get into the main auditorium. It was pathetically small for the crowd lined up "around the block" to attend the meeting, so only a small portion of the crowd got in. Me and some C4Lers were among them. Others ended up in overflow rooms, having become spectators, watching the proceedings on large TVs.

I first got a bad feeling about the whole event being orchestrated when police started warning people not to bring cameras in. No cameras? At a public meeting on a public facility? That's odd. Well, they weren't going to stop me from making a voice recording using my small sansa mp3 player.

THE TRICK....

Whenever the Government passes legislation there is a stated purpose at the beginning... This is all you need to read... REPEAT... THIS IS ALL YOU NEED TO READ, GO NO FURTHER... If the stated purpose is to "Provide Americans with healthcare" then the passing of the bill gives them the authority to do whatever they believe is necessary to achieve that end. ANY AND EVERYTHING THEY UNDERTAKE IN PURSUIT OF THE STATED GOAL IS DEEMED TO BE OK PER THE COURTS... Unless EXPLICITLY excluded with-in the text of the legislation, EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED and assumed to be supported by the people.

The Liberty a society retains is inversely proportional to the number of Lawyers in the Government.

It disturbs me that

we have a herd mentality here. This person "bellowed" out, while a speaker was speaking, out of turn and loud, twice. It was not the Constitution that got him thrown out, it was his conduct after they had let some major uproars go during the meeting. And yes I have read the article and yes I have watched the video/audio for the two who question me below.

I totally agree that the speech was bogus, the reasoning for healthcare given was totally bogus, they threw out an extra person who apparently was not doing anything at all, but the cause was an individual shouting out over the whole crowd without being recognized. From what I see, I cannot blame it on the mentioning of the Constitution. By their own admission the guy "bellowed" it out. Sorry, I know I am the only one who sees it this way, but I refuse to lose my individuality. Too much mind control is going on already with HAARP and in other ways. They can mind control a crowd into rioting and I plan to remain objective.

Personally, I think a warning to pipe down and get in line to ask a question would have been appropriate, but the cops are for the purpose of keeping things from flairing into a dangerous situation. When a person takes it upon himself to shout out over an entire crowd--well, that is misconduct.

LaughLoveLearn, I truly

LaughLoveLearn, I truly meant no offense in my comment below. I thought I was being helpful. Remember Billy Dee and all his Bob Barr spamming? I didn't mind so much if I wrote something snarky to him though. ;-)

As for the person who yelled out about the Constitution: If he is like me and has written his congressman over and over and has had his letters ignored every time....if he has read where the letters to Congress against the bailout were 100 to 1, and were subsequently ignored by Congress...if he is worried sick that our republic is in danger of being lost forever by this latest government healthcare fiasco....and then when he finally makes another effort to have his voice heard, he finds out that his fliers are forbidden and his camera is shut down, it is completely understandable to me that he would feel compelled to yell out in this apparently sanitized town hall meeting when he has listened to about all he can take. I feel he restrained himself pretty darn well. IMHO.

this is a f&*% revolution

we where accused of creating traffic hazard by placing Ron Paul revolution banners on highway overpasses lamposts and bus stops...I remember reading here of a guy who got introduction to Ron Paul reading a written message on the washroom door on his campus another got it from a sign on a plastic tray at lunch time....playing by the bleeping rules in my former country at that time Communist Poland would be called being a traitor!!! enough said*))

My banner was up for nearly 5 months

No one wrote me a ticket or called me a traffic hazzard. Everyone knew it was me who put the banner up. The sherrif told me, "I realy like Ron Paul, I wish he had a chance to win."

I go to town hall meetings. I do wear a Ron Paul tee shirt, Bootleg I got from the Eureka Meetup made by Doug... it's an awesome shirt, and I bring flyers, and I sit in the audience and I listen, and when I get the opportunity, I either stand up or go to the mic when I am directed to go. From there, I make it clear that I understand what is being said, and then I offer Ron Paul's perspective on healthcare, which I explain to the audience, govt care does not include alternative medicine (cannabis, which is legal here) and point out what "we" stand to lose. It didn't pass then, and it's not just Irate loud mouthed neocons who are not there to listen. I have seen people stand up and shout. All that means is they are not in control of themselves. Everyone who goes to town hall meetings regularily know who goes and who doesn't. I get tons of emails, and have been getting tons of emails about what's going on with a number of projects that I have expressed an interest in. Big issues come up or FLASH UP from time to time and you wind up with a room full of people.

I suggest, don't stop going to town hall and city/community meetings. Don't come yell and run away. Roll your sleaves up. How about a Roll your sleaves up rEVOLution rather than a F*#%ing revolution?

I went to a meeting once, and it was so "insane", I don't know what else to call it. I busted out laughing. This insulted the mayor and everyone. Seriously. Underneath the titles are real people who know it's BS, but this is govt business so they take the BS very seriously, and I cracked up. They got the message. It was a very sincere laugh, I could not help myself. I wanted to say, "You gotta be fucking kidding?" But I knew they were not. So I kept quite and after the meeting I found a way to compliment each one and give them a hug.

I know their politics and they know mine. I am involved, and if I was at that meeting, I would have felt compassion for the man, but sorry for him because he does not know how things work in his own community, and he's going to tell tham about the national level.. what he saw on TV? Or what he was told by someone.

As a Nader supporter, you have to know, Democrats have not been very nice to us. It has not been easy, and yet, now, Democrats are respecting Nader, as many respect Ron Paul, so I see this as a very good time to educate people on issues. People are listening. People are seeking answers.

Being angry and fearfilled isn't constructive. I don't advise it. But I do advise going to government meetings and being involved will get you allot further than being a hot flash in the pan at a town hall meeting where the majority have never been before and angry and scared or curious to hear what the plan is.

Do you think I should change my ways?

You are welcome to stand in line politely.

And I'm not concerned about whether they like my "decorum".

It's gonna get WAAAAYYY uglier than this.
If this is too much for you, then I suggest giving up now.

Thanks, Granger

I was braced for a beating.

Storm the Republicans

Time to get the Rep. running for office off their butts and have them show up at these meetings let them talk and see what happens.

one of the great comments from youtube ~
unfortunately, most elected officials and judges don't understand the fact that the general welfare statement is in the preamble, or introduction to the Constitution and is not an expressed power of the government. Some of the Founders did not want the general welfare wording to be used, precisely because it would give cart blanche to future politicians to enact any scheme they could think of in the name of the "general welfare".

I need help!

HOW are we supposed to make a difference? PLEASE HELP ME!

Here this brave individual tries, peacefully but forcefully, to simply educate these people and hold the snake-oil politicians accountable. And what happens? They escort him out by force, the people applaud, the bank-owned politicians continue with the scripted dissolution of the country!

I just want to know HOW this is worth fighting for! I want to carry it forward. But, if we are not wanted, and the Constitution is a bore or an inconvenience, and people WANT Socialism; then why not let them have it? They obviously cast out the voice of Liberty and cheered it no less! I just wonder why we insist on changing these people simply because we insist it should be "the old way." While I agree WITH "the original/old way", it has obviously evolved into a new way! In some ways I see forcing the original way on these people similar to forcing the Muslims to live like westerners (through the barrel of our guns).

I'll look for a place that welcomes Liberty. I am not going to force it on these brain-washed sheep! They seem to me to be more than willing to march to their own slaughter! I'll wave good-bye!

What did you expect?

The Constitution is a sore subject with all public officials and so-called police officers as none of them ever take the mandated Oath of Office to support said instrument and the provisions therein. Since they refuse to attest or swear and file then they vacate their office within thirty days according to the government code. They are not disqualified from office as they never qualified. They are simply usurpers acting in their private capacity to implement the treasonous and draconian policies of the Kenyan.

LOL, I guess the work "constitution" is another code word now,

meaning the user is a racist or a violence-prone berserker.

Good one, reed.

Anyone remember the brochures printed by the Phoenix Joint Terrorism Task Force that case defenders of the Constitution in a negative light?

What a load of

Horse ------ ! These creatures are testing the patience of americans. They screwed themselves, when they taught the populace that the people controlled government via the constitution. Even if that's not true, the people believe it to be a FACT.

It will be they're un-doing. Indoctrination, comes full circle to bite them on they're commie a@ses. The irony.

The preamble? what a load

The preamble? what a load of crap. Technically the preamble is not part of the constitution, it is a statement defining the purpose of the constitution itself and the goals that are hoped for by following what the constitution sets forth.

So to say "the constitution says we're to promote the general welfare, and we're using this authority to enact universal healthcare" is a lie because the document outlines the specific ways in which the general welfare is to be achieved. Even if you refer to not the preamble but the "general welfare" sited in Article 1 Section 8 you would first have to use a sensible hermeneutic and realize that the "general welfare" being spoken of here is clearly the same one being spoken of in the preamble (since they are the same words) and therefore the meaning would clearly imply that the writers were intending for the general welfare to be achieved by adherence to the restrictions set forth in the document. In no way could you interpret this to give some sort of unchecked power to government to pursue any course they subjectively defined as being the "general welfare".

Added to this would be the fact that the word "welfare" in the context of the state as defined by Webster in 1828 was: "Exemption from any unusual evil or calamity; the enjoyment of peace and prosperity, or the ordinary blessings of society and civil government; applied to states."

Arguing for nationalized healthcare, the income tax, the war in Iraq, the Department of Homeland Security...etc in the context of that definition is clearly a deviation from the clear meaning set forth in the document.

I don't need a supreme court justice to tell me that.

Thank you for you scatalogical response.

However your conjecture regarding the preamble is amusing at best.

It's referred to as the

It's referred to as the preamble to the constitution, I have not seen it stated "the preamble of the constitution". If it's the preamble to the constitution, then it's not a part of the constitution, it's the preamble to it. That's why it says, "for this reason and that we establish this constitution", followed by the constitution.

Never-the-less my point is that neither of the "general welfare" phrases provide the basis for any extraordinary powers. The preamble conveys no additional powers, instead it restricts the laws set forth in the constitution by providing a definite context.

BTW I appreciate your proctological response, your passion for the scatalogical position is clearly evidence that you are a regular consumer of it.

Right!

Like I read somewhere, it' s welfare with a little "w" not a big "W"!

i only disagree that the preamble

is part of the constitution. It is the introduction, part of the whole. It's there and I would use it. Their just taking that phrase and running with it until the people get in their way.

It's definitely the talking

It's definitely the talking point they are using to appease the herd. I guess they figure most people won't read the constitution anyway, and if they have some lame argument it doesn't really have to make sense, because in the end the sheep just want free health care, and it makes them feel a little better if they can be convinced it's as much a part of America as baseball, apple pie, and the constitution.

Free health care and I don't have to read nothin? Well wipe up the drool and crank up the lee greenwood!

...at least I know I'm free my ass...

...

Seriously...the irony is a heavy pill to swallow...being removed from a public forum for mentioning our very own Constitution...wow...

We have to continue to speak up.

Notice all the redshirts in the audience. Good for you to exercize your 1st amendment.
These damn fools who won't even read the bill and are so brainwashed almost make me hope they get what they want. Even then, I don't think they will understand. Like the people that go for their shower in Nazi Germany don't get it until it's way too late.

Four legs good, two legs bad!

It's all controlled. Kicking a guy out for asking about the Constitution is NOT freedom of speech.
