Rep. Green to require photo ID at town halls

A Texas congressman, worried about disruptions at his town halls, wants to weed out people who want to attend but don't live in his district.
Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas) has announced on his website that he will require attendees to show photo identification to get into his town halls to prove that they're his constituents. He said that he's doing so in response to a "coordinated effort to disrupt our town hall meetings."

Congressman Right
He's wrong about the Medicaid issue, but right about this. The Republican criticism is offbase.
The congressman should be talking to the people of his district and no others. Outsiders need to butt out. The concept of representative government is that important.
Help me understand . . .
Help me understand, please, how a photo ID is going to prove I live in his district.
If I carry a DL, it proves only I have a DL from the state. I could live in another state, having just moved. If I show a passport, it proves only that I have a US passport, I don't have to have my place of residence on it. Will they disallow the passport? Will the special forces brought from other places have special sticker codes on their ID so they can be let in, while legitimate constituents will be kept out? Good grief, Charlie Brown!
Do we seriously think that those checking these IDs will know each and every town in the representative's district? Will they be given a list to memorize ahead of time? Congressional districts run through counties and sometimes towns, one side in one district, one in another. What nonsense.
I didn't read the article,
I didn't read the article, but it does seem like a reasonable idea. Making sure that he is spending his time dealing with those who he actually represents does seem fair.

Loved this counterpoint...
"It’s just a tad ironic that while Congressman Green forces his own constituents to produce photo ID simply to attend a town hall meeting, he doesn’t feel it necessary that people who receive government subsidies should do the same,” said Brad Dayspring, spokesman for House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.).

Does that also go
for the Democrat thugs that they ship in from Chicago?
Will the SEIU be barred?
How about ACORN?
Will they have to prove they are from the district?
Their proof will be...
a fist in your face, please may I have another.
