Becklash: Advertisers Flee Glenn Beck

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- In what is shaping up to be one of the more effective boycott campaigns in years, advertisers are abandoning the "Glenn Beck" show on Fox News following the host's incendiary comments that President Barack Obama is a "racist" and has a "deep-seated hatred for white people."

Among the advertisers to pull spots from the popular cable talk show are Geico, owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, Procter & Gamble, Sargento Cheese and Progressive Insurance, according to the companies and Color of Change, one group that is organizing a campaign against the program.

Beck, who made the remarks during another Fox News program late last month, is among the network's biggest draws, pulling in an average of about 2 million viewers...

Beck is full of shit

I guess Bill Maher is right about him talking out of his behind.

He says one thing one week, and the complete opposite another time around.

WHAT I WILL NOT FORGET is that he viciously attacked Ron Paul when it mattered most, less than two months before the start of the primaries. In case you forgot or haven't seen it:

Yes Bill Maher is a true

Yes Bill Maher is a true promoter of liberty isn't he? Wake the hell up! MSM is not to be trusted but we should utilize it when it promotes our cause!

That p.o.s. Maher ought to know

Maher talks out of his a$$ daily. As a vet I would love to punch that *rick in the mouth more then once. I am ok with Beck, he is out there but he is saying some interesting things.

whether beck is

"one of us" or not does not matter. how he treated dr. paul does not matter. that he is causing people just like him to question the illusion does. what we make of the opportunity he provides us, even if unintentional, matters.

"The two weakest arguments for any issue on the House floor are moral and constitutional"
Ron Paul

to hell

with glenn beck.

stop bringing his sorry, lame ass to the table for discussion.

he fucking blows.

even i agree with an obama supporter friend of mine on the whole beck issue.

and that's saying quite a bit.

Glenn is lost. naughty,

Glenn is lost.
naughty, naught

Beck is indeed late to the party (of Liberty that is)...

But I guess it's better late than never.

I think Glenn Beck supports Dr. Paul's economic views but he is wrong on foreign policy.

He still doesn't get the connection between having an empire and a screwed up economy.

"You can't have an empire and a republic" as quoted by George Washington.

Beck must learn this concept in order to be a tru lover of freedom.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Why would anyone want to watch Glenn Beck

He is not one of us. You don't get that?

Murdock owns Fox and Murdoch pulls endorsements, hmmmm?

This "should" translate to most DPers as "Glenn Beck is a whore for ratings"

Glenn concocted this -- Why wuold Murdoch pull sponsorship and keep him live everyday on the radio and t.v -- it doesn't make any sense.

If you don't like what someone says you "fire him" -- not just pull some advertising dollars, hahahahahaha.

2+2 does not always add up to 4 -- at least not to collectivist

Murdoch doesn't keep him

Murdoch doesn't keep him live on the radio, it's a totally separte media. I can't think of the name right now, but it's the same one who brings Rush and Hannity. Beck is 2nd on radio only to Rush. As far as the advertisers, on Fox they are not removing their ads from Fox only asking not to be on during Becks time. Since Beck has the 3rd most watched show period, and the first in that time slot, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more liberty minded slots filled such as goldline and others. I think it will have no efffect. However, as much as Beck pops off on the republicans, I am wondering how long Murdoch will keep him around. I think it's Murdoch in this case being pimped...

And Beck said the other day on his radio, that he is beginning to understand some of what Ron Paul was talking about regarding ongoing occupation and manning 800 bases or more around the world. He said don't get me wrong, I still say bomb the hell out of em, but we don't have to build an empire there. So he may be coming around. Either way, I like about 50 percent of what he says so I will defend his right to his opinion and celebrate the things we agree on.

Don't understand the Its All or Nothing attitude around here sometimes.

" Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of they day; but a series of oppresssions...pursued unalterably, through every change of ministers, too plainly proove delibrate, systematical plan of reducing us to slavery..."

" Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of they day; but a series of oppresssions...pursued unalterably, through every change of ministers, too plainly proove delibrate, systematical plan of reducing us to slavery..."

Letushope: Beck's radio "growth" is spurred by his media growth

If you reduced 50% of our debt -- 99% of all RP folks would go back to sleep.

50% wrong is not 50% right

There's a counter boycott in effect

among Beck listeners/viewers. They are boycotting the companies that pulled out. Wonder which boycott will be more hurtful.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

Going to tune in to his show everyday based on that alone. His viewer numbers should go up. :)

Or else Faux is saying this so there's a reason to fire him & do to him what MSNBC did to Tucker Carlson after he said he was writing in Ron Paul if he had to.

I heard Beck almost apoligize on the radio show one day this

week. I got in the truck (old delivery truck no tape no cd) and had it on the talk station. He was saying something about how around two years ago he started to see what "they" were saying didn't add up, and was sorry he didn't speak out sooner, blah, blah.

Right now I still don't know where I stand on him, I don't take what anyone says as truth until I can verify it as best I can. But, right now Beck still isn't my "friend" but he is the enemy of my enemy. And, that is better than anyone else on the air. If he gets canned in the next couple of months or moved to 6 o'clock Sat night, we'll know he is truly changed.

Yes. Another good interview with Rand

Glenn has had Rand on TV and radio a couple of times now and each time their conversations have dovetailed nicely with each others beliefs.

You may not like Beck and that's fine. You don't have to watch him but I've been listening to him for over a year and it seems like he's coming closer to my views and the Liberty movement in general more quickly than anyone else. Mark Levin too. Hannity's still playing the politics game but even Rush is starting to sound like he reads DP!

Just because these guys are working for big media conglomerates doesn't mean they're "the bad guys". And besides, there are local 9-12 groups you can plug into and network with local people who are open to the message of Liberty. A lot of these folks are now realizing that they were wrong about Dr. Ron Paul last year and are coming around. Better late than never I say. Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. In fact many of the local 9-12 people here are planning on voting for Rand!

Personally I love listening to Glenn!

My level of respect just went WAY up for Mr. Beck...

Mr. Beck just did more for our movement than many can and I want to give him respect for that. Great job Glenn, you have alot more respect for me now. I am going to have to challange you on Levin, Limbaugh and Hannity. They all dissed RP when they had the chance and NEVER ever disrespected Bush. That is shameful. I am a Constitutional-paleo Conservative and recovering Neo Con. But I call myself a classic conservative (economically a classic liberal as some would call Von Mises and Friedman) so I naturally enjoy listening to those neo cons more than Olberdouche, Matthews or whats her name (the one that looks like a man... seriously, forgot her name, not just being rude) on MSNBC, but they make me sick to my stomach how they have taken our philosophy and ruined it in the horrible Bush doctrine and then feel unapologetic about it! That pisses me off more than liberals, because at least you know where liberals stand, but in my eyes, neo cons are like wolves in sheep's clothing which is not only wrong, but decietful in my opinion. A neo con that has my respect is Mike Gallagher.. why? Listen to his interview with Ron Paul. Another neo con I used to hate, but now I respect is Anne Coulter... Why? Because she recognized her bad ways and gives respect to the only TRUE conservative and that is Dr. Paul. They get passes in my eyes. The nasty, vile things Levin has said will never let me forgive him until he apologizes or makes up for it by giving positive spin on our man, RP. Thats all i have to say.

Rand Paul was just on Glenn Beck. I didn't know he would be on today, so that was a pleasant surprise. I hope someone posts a video. It was a good interview about health care.

hate to see this as the reason...

but would not mind seeing him go...He is a distraction from the truthful liberty message.

I disagree strongly

He JUST had Rand Paul on his tv show. That's a NATIONAL audience with over 2 million people just seeing Rand right now. You can't buy that kind of advertising if you are Rand. Maybe Beck isn't a true liberty person, but as long as he's giving schiff and ron and rand paul minutes on his show you can't hate him.

I actually think

a little more highly of him now that he drove off Proctor & Gamble: http://www.scripophily.net/prgaco1bo.html

Didn't I hear faux was going to start charging

for their web news? If so, this plays right into the hype. lol Brilliant, they will have people paying for propaganda because you can only get the truth there!

I've never trusted Glen Beck

It's impossible to look into someone else's head, but I think he's just an entertainer, nothing more, with no particular political agenda. It looks like he "mis-calibrated."

What is really happening with Glen Beck?

I recently woke up and started to pay attention to politics like many Americans.

I have learned new terms like glottalization, oligarchy, new world order, fiat money system, beast from Jeckle Island, but my favorite is GUIDED OPPOSITION.

Do you suppose that is what Glen Beck is? Or is he whipping the American People to a frenzy until someone does something stupid, violent; giving the government the excuse to put us under martial law?

We need real change. And by that I mean Congress. We need liberty minded constitutionally driven candidates! We need to change our congress with the exception of a few greats (Ron Paul being my favorite). I hope America wakes to the fact that BIG money rules the leaders, they back them financially so they are the true rulers of America.

JFK was in the process of shutting down the Federal Reserve to give us constitutional money system again, then was shot. Do the math.

Your woke up with a bang!

Good for you.

Media people are bought and

paid for. They're entertainers we shouldn't take seriously.
If someone expresses his views minus the big money, then I might be impressed.

This is what happens when you put tabloid arguments before rational ones. You make yourself a target and polarize the opposition.

He's just doing his job

Becklash -- I like the title -- However it's all a joke isn't it

Murdoch owns Fox News -- pulling Berkshire Hathaway and not firing Beck is a ploy -- drive ratings through the roof.

Beck is a tool.

Murdoch supported this War

ALL OF OUR FINANCIAL problems rest on two things: 1) Military Colonialism and 2) Zero Competition in Currency.

If you had those two in their proper place 98% of RPers would go sit down -- meaning people didn't "wake up" until it affected their pocket book.

Beck supported this War (and still does) -- He still disagrees (as a footnote) with Ron Paul on the War on Terror almost everytime he discusses RP.

It's shameful the way he uses our movement.

If 90% of our financial problems come from this war and the nearly 800 military bases (supply chain - logistics - wages spent in foreign lands) -AND- Beck is in favor of that -- then BECK is the problem!! Not the solution.

He can never be a solution until he outs his own corrupt agenda and he can never do that.
