Updated: We Have Our Symbol !!! Quilting you are awesome !!!

I just received my quillow today from Quilting with her symbol for the revolution on it. I believe Michael is going to share a picture of it with everyone. Trust me everyone will want a flag with "our" symbol on it. Not only is it a remarkable work of art but Quilting also has a poem to go along with it.

I cannot tell you how honored I am to be one of the first to see it. I believe this symbol will unite people in the pursuit of :

LIBERTY !!!!!!!

I just wanted to add MikeLawson site that shows the symbol
cleaned up. I think it really improved it. Thanks, Mike

Quilting your contribution is not a small one and if I am correct you will have a secure place in this revolutions history !!!

THANK YOU !!

As always...

this is a powerful symbol...in its simplicity and in its complexity it honorably and truthfully depicts Liberty and the life we find worth fighting for.

Quilting

I see there is already a Ron Paul shop on this site at the bottom of the page that has Ron Paul tee shirts etc. It might be worth talking to them or Michael about offering the new logo on products .

No Matter What...

I vote for the tree (in any form) as our symbol. It evokes nonviolence from the get go. Also a tree by it's very nature is complex and organic, the very opposite of authoritarianism.

Quilting, great job!

Add two things.

1. A coiled rattle snake.
2. The Tree from the flag "Appeal to Heaven"

A feel it necessary for the flag to represent the emotions of the people during similar points in history is for us to incorporate the the symbols from the past to represent the emotions of today with our added symbol as well. I deem it necessary to reuse many of the symbols Americans had pre-War for Independence in today's movement.

By doing so it will help make the People stand out from the Tyrants, allowing the Tyrants men to make a decision to do with their allegiance.

Thank you FreeManOnLand

I had considered your ideas when I developed this symbol. In fact, I almost did not use the word Liberty from what I had learned about Law Of the Sea, that seems what we live under now. I was going to go with FREEDOM thinking it more appropriate but the word LIBERTY is my desire to connect to our ancestors so I choose Liberty. If you look at my symbol at the center with the long line and the points with two branches without points, I was hoping to create the feel of the "Appeal to Heaven" flag. To me it looks like a person with their arms stretched out appealing to heaven for guidance, at least that is what I was trying to convey. I think that the snake flag is very powerful in it's own right and adding it to this would have cheapened them both. As I look back at all the flags of our ancestors I see that they left room for each others ideas. I don't think my symbol is the first or last of this revolution, it is meant only to give comfort to those who seek it.

I share your concerns about who the Tyrants are, but from what I have learned many have been leaders of our past. Who do we trust, I don't know? Who will betray us, I don't know? I do know who I am and I want to be a Free Woman On Land. Peace, Courage & Freedom

I get it...

I like it and it is simple enough that some good graffiti artists could put this all over the place (legally). Can we have permission to reproduce this on fliers and handuts? I'd like to start posting this all over my town...

Assert Your Authority

Yes, you can

reproduce it as long as it is done in good taste not to attack or work against anything that Dr. Paul and we hold dear. If used in connection with facts and truth I would be honored.

Mike Lawson has a cleaned up version here but you may need his permission to use it, I don't know.

Use it however you wish

The PDF is vectorized and can be used for anything at all.

Forgive me if I am a wet blanket

I honestly like the symbol, but my first reaction was, "Oh no! Our arrows are broken!"

Thanks for your honest

reaction and I have thought about this. The root is not broken but bent to support the tree. If the key to Liberty is Knowledge and Truth is New Growth, (green points and the grass roots ) that body of Wisdom the trunk and roots will grow where it finds open minds.

Thank you for not being offended

and providing your explanation. I'm just so used to seeing bow-and-arrow WEAPON arrows in American symbolism that I perceived them THAT kind of arrow, not just directional arrows. Thus the split-second dismay at seeing them broken at the top and bottom.

Still very attractive though, and well-made. :)

Well done.

Who did the more drawing-like one?
I like the fact that it also seems to have
slight "imperfections" - the stitched one is really
charming--I love that hand-made quality. So much
can be done with a symbol like this to focus and rally
around. It brings to mind local-ism. It's has masculine
and feminine qualities. As a tree, it's rooted in principle;
making it strong to withstand the trials of life and time.
I also enjoy all of the comments, below. We Liberty-minded
folks are so Romantic.

I did them both.

I was going to correct the imperfections but something in me kept saying no leave it. I don't understand why. Maybe, in our efforts to gain Liberty we will not be in agreement or balance with each other but none the less will be seeking Liberty.

Sweet! Universal, and Self-Explanatory!

Anyone know Runic? Gotta mean something. Feels naturally primal like my genetic memory remembers something...

http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/meanings.html
http://www.uponreflection.co.uk/runes/rune_encryption.htm

From what I can tell, it's merely perfunctory glance on my part, and please correct me, if any of you have actually studied Runic symbolism, or other glyphs for that matter, but as far as this layman can understand, of course it''s after viewing only but a few sites, if "rune binding" is done in Viking, AngloSaxon, and Germanic Futhark, and if "spreads" are done... it actually reminds me of I-Ching (hey who said the ancient Hans and Norse weren't brothers and sisters!), it may possibly denote some of the following: challenge, wealth, drizzle, god, ulcer, ice, Tyr(http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tyr), man, water, bow, torch, sedge(http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sedge), and ocean

Spread far and wide upon the Ocean, with the force of fire and ice, drizzled and blessed by God upon men, so that he/she may face whatever challenge may commeth armed with bow and torch of intelligence.

How that? 'o) Hey, my first Rune Spread!

So what say you, our inventor of the said symbol, Quilting?

- Ron Paul 2012 !!!

Wow, that is so interesting

When I was working on the design I was reading about the Liberty Tree and how slaves were the first to gather under the tree to celebrate and elect their spokes persons etc. Then the revolutionary citizens gathered under the tree to meet and discuss plans on how to claim their Freedom. I kept remembering how we were the grassroots. I think Liberty has to come from the ground up, not top down. That Liberty is gained through wisdom not weapons. That fighting the immigrant or a person of color or a person of a particular religion will not gain my freedom. My freedom will be by acknowledging who holds the purse strings to it. My freedom will be gained by NOT supporting institutions that enslave me. Wisdom is the Key to Liberty. Our enemy keeps secrets and that should tell us what power there is in secrets.

Primal edifice..

and natural.

A Tree, is growth. A Tree, is life. A Tree, is Knowledge, with or without the judeo-christian Original Sin context; it's dangerous for those who are arrogant. But, to those whom are respectful of Nature, and/or the Creator , it can be a gift: "Wisdom is the Key," indeed.

A Tree, plants itself down, spreads its roots wide, building foundation for the next generation. And, leaves its mark on surrounding soil, influencing its environment. Symbiotically, a Tree, absorbs what surrounds it, both the ground, and the air, so that the lessons learned, are retained and can be passed on. And what's more? A Tree grows upwards. Up, up, and away! Sky's the limit.

Yup, don't want to get all too American Beauty's high-gliding "plastic bag" on ya'll, but the symbolism of a common everyday Tree we irreverently walk past, is pretty deep; if one stops to think about the depth to which our Ancestors gave the simplest creations of Nature, the most profound implications on one's soul, as easily observed, reflected in various life cycles on earth. The older I get, the more, and more respect I have, for what the arrogant anthropologists/archaeologists, aka."quackademic-grantwhores" have dismissively labeled as "primitive" glyphs. Which, the old cliche proves that, indeed, a picture [symbol] IS worth a thousand words, reflective of a time in history where the ancient tongue developed out of its more lyrical oral traditions, compared to the more literal rendition that our modern bland languages consist of. How those brazen eggheads DON'T know, what OUR Quilting knows... 'o)

And I'm glad that the symbol seems to be growing on you; at the rate DP'ers are embracing, it seems already, to have begun a life of its own, as Ernie Hancock's R3VOLution logo has. I posted the following on a separate thread, but I feel it's apropos: http://www.dailypaul.com/node/103971#comment-1138295

Ernie explains to a caller whom inquired about the nature, of the extent of his ownership of the "R3VOLution" logo:

He As he puts it: starts around 8:10 min mark:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPoa6mc7J1g

"Let me tell you how much ownership I have over that logo: just enough ownership to make sure nobody has ANY ownership."

And, he goes on to communicate one of the more profound statements I've heard in recent memory:

"You want to kill a movement? You try to control it... You CAN'T. STOP trying. Let it go. Because, there IS NO CENTRAL PLAN for Freedom, even if that central plan has an "L" after it." [As he makes an 'L' finger gesture referring to the Libertarian Party.]

Thanks, for sharing that with me, I really appreciate it. I read that thread and that Ernie is my kind of patriot. It also reminded me of a egg I have in my china cabinet. It is all decorated and I bought it years ago. It reads
"Do not walk in front of me, I may not follow. Do not walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and be my friend". That sums it up for me, I don't know who the author is, but I like it.

Nice Rune Spread, Bleu my DNA was touched too.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

That quote about topsoil, is PROFOUND,

to all of us, except I suppose to someone like Sai Baba, who supposedly can meditate for hours without food and the usual hygenics, not to mention popping once extinct items out of thin air, LOL. Now only if I could live on air, and sunlight... but... but... pizza... Why does path to enlightenment have to be so cruel?

Thanks for the links. Will have to definitely check them out!

P.S. Thanks for the compliments on the spread.

Offering as paper wieghts, or stick on decal transparency.

Rune Uses
The runes are thought of as an ancient writing system but they surpass these limitations by also incorporating the tribe social idealogies (e.g. Sowulo = sun = health = s). The use of runes is limitless they have been found inscribed onto many surfaces of differing materials and have been used for spells, divination, poems and ornamentation. When used for divination they are most commonly cut onto small parts of a branch of a fruit bearing tree but they can be painted onto almost any surface. For this practice it is generally considered best to use natural materials such as crystals, stones and wood.

(The photo to the side is an example of one of my sets - varnished coal stones picked from a nearby beach).

Wow, that is so beautiful.

For some reason I could see the symbol burnt on a small piece of smooth wood, something to put in my pocket for strength during the difficult days ahead. Thank you both for this very deep reading of the symbol, very profound.

Beautiful natural presence...

in those stones. Awesome. So does this mean you'll do an iteration of QuiltingSando's liberty tree symbol? That'd be great to see on a three dimensional item, as well as on the usual flat or curved planar surfaces ideal for applique.

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

Nah...

It's too complicated..
check out this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdtqtfXdR-c

The symbols in the video are cartoons trying to be definitive.

They are mere pretty pictures.
Quilts still leaves all to the imagination, from a Girl Scout craft to ancient archeology, but especially, to all languges, and is very, very physically strong from an engineering view, rigid and spewing.
The symbols in the video, democrate donkey, republican elephant, Obamas circle (barbie doll's view from her window? some sort of sun and waving stands of grain?) Mere cartoonish.
Quilts is sophisticated, and perhaps not for everyone, you know, those that will see anything as a cartoon, or want to see a cartoon.
Quilts speaks of persistance and consistancy, a linear and reasoned approach, clutching the earth and giving strength, almost scary strength to the stand.
Opps, there I go again, trying to figure out why I am so attracted to "lines" and a touch of brown and green. Darn, it's so ambiguous, I just can't stop imagining!

I cleaned it up and I want to share it here, but I don't know

how. I'm going to post it on www.hideyourride.com/symbol

Outstanding job. I miss the writing though.

Maybe just the symbol

On the cups and tees and add the writing on a flag ?

Nice - I like it

let's not all start wearing uniforms though. OK?

So who's making t-shirts, mugs, baseball hats, sweaters...stickers?

My two cents

Can this go to help quilting some how. She deserves full credit for this. We should find a quality tee shirt and flag company and someone who can put it on coffee cups. I would take one of each ! I'm sure Quilting mentioned it could go to help candidates too.

Quilting, its up to you. We don't want to step on toes but we are here to help when you decide if and how you want to proceed. I'm sure Michael would be a big help too.
