Hey, I haven't posted didly-squat on here for a long time. However, I read here often. Anyway - I thought I should throw this link out to all of you. Apparently Linda McMahon (wife of billionaire and WWE wrestling chairman Vince McMahon) is considering a potential run for senate in CT.

UPDATE: Now confirmed
I figured since this ended up getting bumped anyway, I better post an update in the thread. See my new thread below for an update, as she is now officially announcing her run:

schiff announces on constitution day
which is Thursday...
"The Myth of an Independent Federal Reserve"
"The War Prayer - Mark Twain"
...
Her history of campaign contributions, dating back to 1990, has included both Republicans and Democrats, as she donated to Sen. Joe Lieberman in 2006, and Rahm Emanuel in 2008.
She also donated to the Republican Majority for Choice in 2006, a Political Action Committee favoring abortion rights and the 'Big Tent' appeal of the GOP.
She originally claimed that she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She later admitted that she actually majored in French.

Excellent news, here's why:
Rob Simmons is currently the front runner (if you want to label one anyways). Frankly, Peter Schiff is not going to be able to garner as much support as an established party member/politician like Simmons.... So, the more major candidates are, the better Peter Schiff's chances because more big candidates are likely to siphon off support from others (like Simmons), meaning, Peter Schiff could come out on top/win with say only 25-30% instead of 50% (provided there are enough strong candidates...).
In a race with Rob Simmons, Sam Caligiuri, Tom Foley, and Linda McMahon, Peter Schiff would likely need to win at least 32% of the vote to win the nomination.
Hypothetical outcome:
Schiff: 32%
Simmons: 30%
McMahon: 25%
Caligiuri: 8%
Foley: 5%
but even this would be extremely difficult... but the more candidates to split the vote, the better our chances.... still, even 32% would take a significant amount of support from likely outside our movement.
actually, the race could be even tighter with each candidate around 20%... So really, with 5 candidates, he'd need at least 21% to win... which is definitely possible.... we just have to hope that the other candidates prevent each other from becoming any sort of front-runner...
Good point !
i was really pissed that McMahon decided to run.
now i'm glad - thanks !
I understand what you are saying...
but why can't anyone just win on the quality of their message in politics today? A lot of my hope in Ron Paul's 2008 campaign was that the different factions would split and that the freedom movement would come out on top at the end of the day. It didn't happen. Romney folded and I'm sure he'll be the "front-runner" in 2012 because of it.
Schiff needs to run, stick to his message, and take the time to do it right. If he decides to run, he should find someone to manage Euro Pacific Capital so he can focus his efforts on winning the Senate race. Our country needs a person with Peter's clarity of vision right now.
Linda McMahon may have deep pockets, but she doesn't have a message. The only qualification she seem to list is running a $1 billion dollar traded company. Does she know anything about liberty, a sound dollar or the free markets? I think not. It's easy to get rich during the boom, it's hard to get on national TV and predict the bust like Peter did.
I wanted to bump this thread.
There is an article today on Huffpo saying she is expected to run for the Senate seat in Connecticut. This is something we have to pay attention to. She will have MUCH deeper pockets than Schiff.....this is the kind of crap that really really agitates me.
Probably
her running is a plan by the RNC against Peter Schiff
I love your name
love the garcia reference.
Colchester, New London County, Connecticut
That makes the race very
That makes the race very interesting....
Maybe Linda would split apart Rob's numbers in which case that may help Schiff' in the primary...if that makes any sense lol...I had a few beers tonight :)...
