I'm proud to say that today I shopped at Whole Foods and will continue
to shop there just like I always have.
Contact information for Whole Foods if you would like to let them
know you still support them.

FYI
John Mackey has been quoted saying that Whole Foods has lost its way. He has acknowledged that they now sell a bunch of junk. Moreover, that WF will be changing strategy to offer more healthy foods and products.
As far as cost goes, it's definitly not cheap. There are alternatives such as your local farmers market and other small "natural" food stores in every city. You can always shop around for the best price for now.
Now I'm just going
to buy from Whole Foods more often! Thank you John Mackey!
It is genes and luck
... I have seen people who do everything right drop dead and others who do everything wrong keep plugging along. I have a 76 y/o 1/2 brother that eats like shit, looks like shit, and still alive. A fit Mexican neighbor that walks religiously everyday around our park for an hour recently dropped dead at 65 with a heart attack.
I have a 43 y/o ex-son-in-law that won't die, he's a heart patient (valve), eats McDonald's hamburgers, fries, and Pepsi's 3X a day and donuts for snacks. He carries a valise full of Vicodin, Tylenol w/ Codeine, steroids, sleeping pills, and only God knows what else ? He is on Coumadin (warfarin (Rat Poison)) to thin his blood. He goes though cases of Pepsi like grease though a goose. He isn't afraid to take anybody on. My son has a Black Belt in full contact Japanese Karate, and when he has been threatened by his brother-in-law he gets his Sig Sauer out.
You can eat right and take care yourself, and when the grim reaper calls you, people will say, "You look good" (at your wake).
I have shopped at Whole Foods, but they are too, too expensive. I figure if I live in the second most polluted county in the country, Cook County, IL (Chicago) why should I get goofy and overpay for food ?
I do try to take care myself, you just never know.
We are on the same team. But I'll put my rawfooders in
competition with the "super sized" crowd, and win every time in every thing. How bout my friend Ray. He's 76 years old, twice per week he does the following:
walks six miles
does 1,000 push ups
and 2,000 sit ups.
Then he travels extensively giving talks on the raw food lifestyle, and the hoax called AIDS and the fraud called "virus".
Or, how bout' a 109 year old man, that rides a bike, eats all his food from his garden, which he tends personally, and has perfect eyesite, hearing and laughs alot.
It's about quality of life more than it is about longentivity.
Raw food doesn't cure anything. But a vibrant and clean body will cure anything, when given the proper tools. (fasing and wholesome foods).
Exercise and fresh air are equally important.
And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”
And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”
I agree whole hardily
... I started eating right when ever I could about 14 years old. My wifes Japanese sister NEVER eats vegtables, the only meat - pork, and drinks some kind of herb tea, she is 87. Their mother lived to her very early 90's on just small bowls of soup. Their island in the East China Sea boasts the worlds Oldest undisputed man. http://health.moonlightchest.com/shigechiyoizumi.asp
Japanese do right. Keeping the meals simple, light and
low stress. (as opposed to chasing fast food and restaurants for meals).
That's one part of raw I enjoy the vibrancy of the food. It calms me to know what I am putting in my body.
Undoubtly, the oldest man has "old dude" DNA and an environment to nurture his physiolgical tendancies.
I've been lavashing in watermelons from two different farms, both farms having their own wells. One is nearer the foothills, so I garner more dense nutrients. They taste incredible. I like the seeded ones . . . more fun. I purchase 5 every week, eat 3 and give two away. They make great calling cards! Hand a friend a watermelon, and watch him smile.
And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

I'm crazy about fruits and veggies
... lately as I'm getting older I am fighting cravings for heavier foods. My BP is 106/62 if I eat right and exercise. If I don't 152/82 (Yikes). It is becoming a battle.
Watermelon was my favorite food, still like it, but I don't get the desire for it as much as I use too. Getting old ?
I love sushi, and my Japanese wife never was big on it, now she won't eat it :( She likes beef, hot-dogs, pizza, and chocolate. Won't eat watermelon. She will out live me too (female). We both eat a handful of almonds a day and take fish oil supplements.
Wacky liberals
John Mackey, how dare you offer good suggestions. We want insurance to mean we all get free doctors and free drugs. Because humans have rights! And they have feelings!
I just recently found out
that 2/3 of the grocery items sold by Wholesale Foods are NOT organic! They are in "hot water" right now with the Organic Consumers Association!
A lot of their food is labeled natural...a lot of people do not know that natural is NOT the same as organic...
I don't particularly trust companies/people that take advantage of others!
Here's the link:

Btw, there's an interesting article located in the link suggesting that pee may be used in the future for fuel...

Yes, but where else are you going to find
that many organic products under one roof ?
Are you going to throw out the baby with the bath water ?
"Natural" has become a huge buzzword at your local grocery store also.
Most people that are committed to eating organic foods know the difference.
Personally I grow most of my own food but I can't grow/ raise and make everything so it is nice to have a store to go to where I know the products are not all GMO's and I have the option to buy organic.
oranic labeling is a scam...
administered by the usda. btw, that's a bad thing...
and is the 'Organic Consumers Association' yet another lobby group?

Uhmmm,
not all lobby groups all bad! Even Ron Paul has discussed how they were around since before we broke away from England....
There are FAKE organic companies--legitimate organic companies take measures, sometimes legal ones, to attempt to keep organic meaning what it is supposed to mean...
Horizon brands isn't really organic, for one...I will not buy that brand...
In today's world it seems we must remain ever vigilant in every area, unfortunately...

My local
Vitamin Cottage is closer and cheaper, but I'm intending to throw some of my business toward the Whole Foods.

there is a forum on the
there is a forum on the whole foods website. we should flood it with support for mackey.
I was just reading through some of the posts.
Socialism seems to cause irritable bowels..I'd never noticed that before.
but man, there some nasty people out there.
I really appreciate them giving up such a nice store for us though.
We're headed there this Saturday.

i thought that as well.
but i don't want us all to be divided and conquered. i wish we could all teach them a thing or two about monsanto and fascism so we could all shop at whole foods, despite what we don't agree on. there is some serious socialism going on in that forum though. the responses on that forum show just how shallow their reactions are.

I shop at Whole Foods and I like that store. Though not
everything in the store is 'organic', I still get a lot of things there at a great price and will continue to shop there.

uhhhh
yeah and exactly WHERE ELSE are you going to get THAT much organic in one store.....you tell me that.....
Precisely! - Let the Socialists eat GMO!
Raw Food for Life
"...there is no doubt that it (socialism) could not possibly have affected us so widely and so deeply as it has, had it not been heavily financed". - B. Carroll Reece
Your right, cinco. But Anisha has obviolusly read the labels.
So, let's look at them from a "rawfood" uncooked search. This eliminates everything except the produce department. Raw fooders having nothing to do with the other aisles, because 80% is still a refined product or in someway altered for shelf life, and made from corn or soy.
Now, their packaged goods are fine quality and have lilke pure cane sugar, instead of GMO beet or high fructose corn syrup and the most organic options, but you still must read the labels.
I have questioned the men behind the meat counter, and ask them where, when and how the meat was produced and transported. I eat meat raw about once every few weeks, and Whole Foods is meat I can trust.
Otherwise, I buy fresh meat flown in from Hawaii, from a private cattle rancher there. (it's more expensive, but also less expensive, as I don't eat much meat as compared to the standard american consumption).
In addition, our local farmers market has better tasting fruits and vegetable than Wholefoods, but Wholefoods is much better than other supermarkets. The local mexican markets have really cheap produce, but has pesticide, too ripe or so much dirt, and dirt has toxins and depleted soils.
And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”
