A visit to the "dark side"
Submitted by ST3_4Paul on Sat, 12/01/2007 - 19:25I went to Huckleberry's website to see what they were saying about their fundraising yesterday, because they had a good day, but not nearly as good as ours. I want to get that out in the open so I'm not labelled a troll. If anything, I did a little trolling over there. I feel all dirty and in need of a shower. Anyway, it was very, very religious. Every post was thanking God for raising the money, etc. I'm a regular Church goer, but I've got to say it was a bit much. I don't think he will get much past Iowa if that is what his appeal is all about. Anyway, I tried to post the following comment on their comments section. It didn't show up so they must have someone screening their comments, but I think it is a fair question for tax hike Mike.
---------------------------
I'm confused how Mike's fair tax ends up helping the middle class. I've read that the top 1% of earners pay 40% of the income taxes. If we eliminate the income tax and replace it with a sales tax, doesn't that mean that the lower 99% of earners (basically, the rest of us) have to make up that 40%, or else have significant cuts to education, health, and defense programs? I don't want to see my taxes doubled, whether it's a sales tax or an income tax. Can someone explain this to me?
--------------------------
Almost forgot to mention, this is one of the posts they did put up, LOL (they're too dumb to recognize our trolls, great job John!):

I am a proud christian and a Huckabee supporter!... I am feeling hopeless lately because everywhere i go in my town there are nothing but Ron Paul signs everywhere....i dont know about you guys but im gettin pretty tired of seeing his name everywhere

I must admit, I sometimes feel tempted to go to their forums
and post... but I have a conscience and have always decided not to. I don't want them posting here, so I wouldn't go posting there. And if they really are Christians, they wouldn't come here trying to cause trouble whether it be for revenge, jealousy, envy, frustration's sake or anything else either (Romans 12:19, Proverbs 6:34, James 3:14,16).
I can't tell anyone what to do, but wish people from our side wouldn't go post over there... RP wouldn't do it.
I've often felt compelled to go over there and tell them some ''truth'' something, anything to get them to understand what they're missing, I've got scriptures a plenty... For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.(Ephesians 6:12) I could go on forever... but the fact is, the truth is everywhere and if they're really searching for it, they will find it.
I honestly feel there is nothing honorable about their candidate. He is not who he says he is... I mean, look at this video...
(Exodus 20:7 - a commandment) I don't know about his Bible, but mine says not to take the Lord's name in vain:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yj_okz7ZwI&e
apparently he doesn't have a problem with that... I also feel like his ''conversation with God'' was blasphemous.
As a Christian, I could not vote for such a man.
Ron Paul is the real deal.

Point taken, I won't go back
If you look at my post, I asked them an honest question. I don't think he's being honest with the American people. The debate question he answered by mentioning the fair tax was how do you balance the budget. You don't do that simply by eliminating the IRS. There are serious choices to be made and I didn't appreciate his populist, and stupid response. So if you look at the question I asked them, it's basically to get them to question themselves. If they are truthful about that process, I think their enthusiasm will wane. I've been reading about Ron and his message every day since Mike Badnarik (who I voted for in '04) endorsed Ron for President. My enthusiasm for this campaign and Ron's message has only grown more and more every day.
I know where you're coming from :)
I honestly wrestle with this often. Should I go over there and try to help them see the light? Or should I just mind my own business? A part of me wants to go there so badly because I feel like they're lost and their votes will go to waste because their candidate can't possibly win. And, if they don't vote FOR the Constitution and FOR Liberty right NOW they may never ever in their life times have that chance again.
This is a very very desperate situation. I think ''if'' anyone felt compelled enough to go over there, then they should - hopefully whoever does, as you have, would keep things civil.
I wish we could get through to them... but as with everyone on this planet, we all have the ability to search for the truth and accept it or deny it.

AHH, I just went over there
AHH, I just went over there too...man, they are trying to copy all of our ideas.
That Walker Texas Ranger clip is pretty funny though, Huck is going to get help from Chuck.
There's somethin' happenin' here...
Power To The People?
I keep having these fantasies
Of a Clint Eastwood RP endorsement that mocks Chuck's Huckabee endorsement. With good humor, of course. It'll probably never happen, but I sure want it to. :)

This my prayer for Iowa
I was thinking about the possibility of a less than satisfactory outcome in Iowa and how that might benefit those who specialize in grief counseling. I became quite morose and the thought came to me that only a miracle would change matters for us in Iowa. This is because of Iowa’s peculiar demographics that favor those who are adept at playing the religious card. This summer’s straw poll in Iowa had Romney and Brownback heading the field. You don’t get more “religious” than that. This led me to the thought that if it will take a miracle for Ron Paul to improve his straw poll showing, perhaps we need to pray for such a miracle. This is how I would pray, but perhaps you are more spiritual and skilled at praying, so please don’t judge me.
Dear God,
[for those who don’t believe in God add the following: For those of us who don’t have the faith to believe that you actually exist, forgive our faithlessness and hear us this time, it sure will help to undermine our doubts.)
I am not sure if you care much about the primary in Iowa, but the Huckabee supporters would argue that you have “a horse in the race” and that obliges you to disregard the petitions that we utter on behalf of Dr. Ron Paul. Some may say that the last time a Baptist occupied the White House you meant it to punish us for our sins. If that’s the case, we will understand if Rev. Huckabee steals (pun intended) the show in Iowa, because our sins are many.
Romney supporters may argue that you have a dilemma because Mitt Romney also believes that the Bible is the Word of God. Now Lord, it gets confusing because to a man these politicians all claim undying loyalty and devotion to your Word. Dr. Paul wasn’t included in the last survey, but more on him later. He does seem to get the silent treatment from the Pharisees and Chief Priests, but the publicans and sinners hear him gladly. There are even some women of ill-repute who have figuratively speaking anointed his feet with oil. We know you won’t hold that against him, because you too had a problem once with the establishment, but you spoke kindly of the prostitutes and tax collectors. We might as well be honest here. Dr. Paul doesn’t mind tax collectors, but he sure has a problem with their bad habits.
I’m digressing as always. To stress that Huckabee is the only Christian horse in the race and thereby prejudice Romney’s chances of any consideration from on high, his supporters would point to the fact that the Bible specifically excludes any appendices or updates to the Book of Revelation, and thereby question Romney’s resolve. While the Baptists and Mormons duke it out, I would ask that you do a miracle for us. Dr. Paul does not wear his religion on his sleeve (nor does Mr. Romney, to his credit), and so, but for the fact that you are omniscient, you might not even know that Dr. Paul is in the race.
Here’s my prayer: For the most part, the people in Iowa follow the council of the chief priests and the temple guard when it comes to casting their votes in a primary. This really puts our man, Dr. Ron Paul, at a huge disadvantage. Nothing short of a miracle will pull him through in Iowa. I know you specialize in miracles, although the kind of miracle I’m asking for will not go down well among the religious establishment in Iowa. However, I also know that you do at times put down the mighty and exalt those of low degree. Please, do it for Dr. Paul in Iowa.
[I won’t dictate the manner in which you end this prayer, but Jesus did say if you ask in His name your prayer will be heard. I don’t know if it will be answered in the way we want it, but it will be heard; but then what do I know. I’m but an infant when it comes matters spiritual.]

sleuth51,
Outstanding. Funniest and most spiritually uplifting read I have had all week! Btw. I am a Christian, and I'm talkin a sold out Jesus freak. I actually read this as a prayer... and I know He has heard it every time it has been read. Now we are definitely "all in".

Our supporters in Iowa
Your comment, "I was thinking about the possibility of a less than satisfactory outcome in Iowa," got me thinking about the whole caucus process in Iowa. If the Ron Paul supporters in a caucus area don't get to 15%, they have to choose a 2nd option. Right? I've never lived in a caucus state so I don't know much about it. Let's get to 15% (or 20 or 25% or more) so that doesn't happen, but if there is one precinct where we're at 14.99%, what's the better option, walking out of the caucus (if that's allowed) and not voting for anybody, or going with the next lowest total so as not to give someone a big victory? Sorry, sorry, sorry, for the not 100% positive post, but this post is more about preventing people from getting discouraged after Iowa than it is about spewing negativity.
That 15% threshold applies
That 15% threshold applies only to the Democratic caucus in Iowa.
I think people (not to mention the polls) completely
underestimate the support Ron Paul has in IOWA -- I think just like everywhere else, he has way more support than anyone is able to physically see.
