The problems with copying/reuploading videos on Youtube
Just yesterday I posted a video of Dr. Paul talking about what is needed to get the audit the fed bill to pass. I posted it here, on my CFL blog and on RPFs. Within about 24 hours the video was copied at least three times on youtube. This is problematic for the following reasons:
1) Copying video is generally a bad idea as some people will report you and your account will be suspended- this will leave a bunch of dead links all over the net- this hurts the cause of getting the message out. I've seen this very thing many times.
2) It dilutes youtube honors which dilutes getting the message out.
3) It keeps people from seeing the original source which prevents them from subscribing to original sources.
4) Those who provide the original content lose potential subscribers which are needed to gain a youtube partner account. This lets them upload videos over 10 minutes.
5) Some people have youtube accounts where they run ads and generate money from the ads to help them make more videos.
It is much easier and better to just promote the original video. Thanks!

Bryan Thanks for the Great videos!
We met in Texas, introduced by Liberty Rider, Michael Maresco. I AM guilty of re-uploading your videos which have collectively received 2000+ views on my channel. I subscribe to the theory that these viewers may not have otherwise been exposed to this message. I have subbed your channel, 5 starred your vids and favorited your latest.
Additionally, I am encouraging my 2000+ subscribers to subscribe to your channel in both the "more info" panel and with a direct link to your channel in the annotations.
I have sent messages to you through C4L and youtube to no avail. We are all on the same team, I have no desire to control information, only disseminate it as fast, and as far and wide as possible. When I hear Dr. Paul repeatedly refer to these as "dangerous times" and stressing the importance of educating ourselves and others, I think, that, should be the primary objective by all means possible.
Youtube has shut down numerous prominent channels in the recent past. The grassroots are making sure that many more channels contain the same videos to keep the message going. I would prefer to keep the videos up that I presently have, with your blessing of course. And in the future, I will not download and re-up anything that you post without prior permission.
"Those who provide the original content lose potential subscribers which are needed to gain a youtube partner account. This lets them upload videos over 10 minutes"
FYI - With 2200 subscribers I am still limited to 10 minutes. I do not have a "partner" account, and I reap NO ad revenue. My understanding is that the criteria for a "partner" account is primarily all material uploaded must be all original, and regularly have thousands of views. When non-partners repost the material of other youtube "partners", the "partner" get statistical credit and the ad revenue. It is a win-win.

Thanks for the note
Thanks for the note robpatozz- it was great meeting you- sorry for the non-response on CFL- it doesn't e-mail notify me. :) I don't mean to bust up my fellow freedom lovers or anything and I'm not going to try and strong arm the situation and force anyone to take a video down here. I do appreciate what everyone is doing for liberty!! Also- I have no interest in any ad revenue from youtube-- I haven't watermarked my videos for a reason either. I do appreciate plugging my channel so I can apply for a partner account and be able to get past the annoying 10 minute limit. I know you must apply for the account and be approved by them, and I do record most all my content (but I have remixed some news clips to highlight points too).
I understand the point of re-uploading allowing to push the video to subscribers. Overall I'm saying that it's good to have some strategy and I don't know exactly what that is but hopefully with dialog we can find that. Thanks for being a part of that- and for the kind words on the videos. Its been a busy few weeks, lol. :)
Thanks for the replies. I
Thanks for the replies. I should note that I do agree it's good to download and keep local copies of videos that could be pushed down the memory hole. Also, videos of MSM news clips can obviously be DVR'ed and uploaded by multiple people so there will be multiple copies anyway- I was mostly referring to people that record original content, such as the great work done by RP4409 and others.
Even with MSM news clips, IMO, it's best to push the one that is getting the most attention to help it build honors.
I think we can agree that Youtube can be powerful to spread our message- the right tactics can help amplify it. Good dialog will help find those tactics and spread that message. Thanks!
Generally it's the tv
Generally it's the tv network that holds original copyright. However, false claims are often made in order to cleanse political material from youtube, in which case it's better to have more sources spreading the video since youtube deletes channels based on false copyright claims.
I often wait a week before copy posts because often people will search for the most recent uploads, selecting today's or this week's uploads. Fewer liberty movement sources also means your videos can get flooded out by opposing political viewpoints when people search by category at youtube.
I can favorite a video, but unless people view my channel favorites, no one will see it. If I know the original source of the video, I'll post it in the description. I always post a link to AuditTheFed.com or CampaignForLiberty.com in the description or video, so all is not wasted.
The Argument for Multiple Uploads
1) The video spreads to multiple accounts and is downloaded on multiple people’s machines, so when YouTube pulls some copyright nonsense; the video organically reappears and other people download it, then upload it.
We need to be starfish, not spiders. We need to be decentralized.
