The biggest threat to our rights is the illegitimate growth of government and the corresponding loss our our Rights, specifically those enumerated in the Bill of Rights.
American citizens have a RIght to Keep and Bear Arms, and if some politicians, or some journalists or any other criminals don't like it, they can consider moving to a more "civilized" nation like Cuba or China or maybe North Korea. Americans don't feel threatened when they see police carrying firearms. Why would they feel threatened by the sight of themselves being armed? The only people who would justifiably feel threatened by the sight of armed citizens are tyrants or potential tyrants.
The idea that we should submit to "gun control" by our Criminal Class, the very people most likely to abuse our freedoms is insane. The Founders gave us the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to protect us against tyranny. Honest, law abiding public servants are in favor of an armed citizenry. Any politician who is offended or feels threatened by the people being armed is suspect.
Politicians who are opposed to the concept of the people keeping and bearing arms are just plain un-American.

I am going to assume that we can all agree that exercise of one's rights is required in a free society and that if one is with in their rights, they are by definition, not impinging the rights of another. So, just on a base level, if there were no guns, don't you think we'd be bringing sticks and rocks, pitchforks and axes to these town hall meetings as an exercise of our rights? I know my axe is sharp, just so I DON'T have to use it.

If I were running as a politician in an open carry state I'd invite people to take their guns to my rallies. First, there'd just be the fun of upsetting the gun grabbers so. Second, I'd be the best protected politician ever.

Wonder if our concerned author were equally concerned about the guns being carried, and even used, during that incidence.
One can also wonder if this clown really thinks Hitler would have gotten as far as he did with his idiocy if every German, especially those opposed to his great "plan" for Germany, showed up at his rallies properly armed. If there is a problem with armaments at these meetings, it is that the regular citizens in attendance, are in no way armed to the point where they actually do put healthy fear into the hearts of those supposed to be their "servants."

What is the big deal...
The gentleman has an open carry permit. Doesn't matter what the event was...he broke no law. A gun doesn't do anything as it is just a tool that can be used for good or bad. Generally, when someone is going to use a gun to commit a crime, they don't reveal the gun prior to the act and they sure do not hang around displaying the gun. Those that feel threatened or intimidated by the public display of a firearm are people that are ignorant and have never been around guns. And don't police carry guns and tazers? There are many dysfunctional and crooked cops that are armed to the teeth. I worry much more about a rogue cop or government spook with a gun than I do a liberty loving patriot exercising his Constitutional rights. I hope to see many more good guys with guns in the future and I hope we can get more states to adopt open carry laws. Never mind the whining libs and lovers of gubberment force, they have no logical argument...just fear and ignorance. I believe Mr. Kostric has set a wonderful example...Let's see more of it!

Back in 2004, Republicans considered it perfectly OK to exclude from the President's presence, even at supposedly open town meetings, anyone with a T-shirt criticizing the war or supporting Kerry or even anyone with a Democratic sticker on their car. Not merely banished from Bush's immediate presence, but from a "zone" of at least a block in all directions.
Now Republicans are encouraging people to bring firearms to Obama's public appearances. And this at the same time that some of them are calling Obama a "traitor" and/or "usuerper". You don't have to be Nostradamus to see where this could lead.
The end result, very likely, is new legislation that would trim back the open carry laws and probably even impose new restrictions.

You must have missed, back in 2004, the commuter buses up in Londonderry, Concord, Manchester... NH being subject to surprise "bomb-sniffing" dogs along their route to Boston. Starting about two weeks BEFORE the DNC! You must have missed the commuter revolts, because the news never reported on it.
You must have missed the angry North End restaurant owners, complaining that they had to shut down for several days. Tens of thousands of pounds of food they had in stock- wasted.
But the MSM never reported on that DNC fiasco, did they?

Bussing in out of state union members to be aggressive could do the same thing. I can see small riots break out, but with the knowledge that the crowd might be armed, it might just keep the thugs in line. If you watch YouTube instead of the MSM you can see that they have been instructed to start trouble with those that oppose Obama care. It is a dangerous situation, but even the individual in N.H. that carried was nearly assaulted until the guy saw the gun on his hip. So to take away the ability to exercise the second while promoting interrupting the 1st (peacefully assemble) I do not know who is the most dangerous. I do know that many that CCW's will not brandish their firearm unless they fear for their life, so I do not think that the majority if any trouble will start from these people, but it has shown useful to stop assaults by the union members bused in from out of state as in the video.

These gun-toting geniuses have already planned a Million Armed Man March on Washington. Very cute. That just might spell the end of open carry laws in most places.
Nearly every public building in downtown DC. including the museums, have the airport-type X-rays and arches to make sure nobody is packing.
Even those Congressmen who have the NRA logo branded on their buttocks have enacted strict laws against any sort of weapon inside the Capitol or any of the Congressional office buildings.
The security guards enforcing these rules have a sharp memory of what happened to the door guard at the Holocaust Museum only two months ago. All it takes is one guy - drunk, crazy, or excited - with a gun for a disaster to happen, and now someone wants a million guys with guns all clustered together to hear provocative speeches.
If this Million Armed Man March took place, instead, in NYC, they'd have similar inconveniences -- but NYC isn't the home of the Congress. Doing it in DC means the Congressmen will be panicked enough to pass new restrictions on carrying firearms, and some may even try sandpapering off their NRA tattoos.
I am sure that the Secret Service, and others, have figured that getting some guy(s) to openly carry a weapon somewhere near the Prez or his route in or out of a event will attract enough official attention that someone else with a weapon (possibly concealed and possibly with a better view of the Prez) will be overlooked.
Obama has been extraordinarily gutsy going to town meetings when it meant being in the line of fire of some protesters carrying guns. Good for him. Back in 2004, Dubya wouldn't go to any such gathering unless it were completely weeded of anyone with an anti-war teeshirt or even a bumper sticker on their car, and any excluded had to stay at least a block away and out of Bush's sight.
So you believe that if people excercise their 'rights'...
...that'll be cause for the government to take that 'right' away'?
