Best 30 sec Ad ... ever!

Watched all 85 ads submitted for the You-Tube Debate and these were my top 5. Pay special attention to the ad I rated #1. This ad is so unique, they'll be talking about it all year. It absolutely MUST get shown on TV.

Outstanding and unique Ad featuring card players. This Ad is absolutely brilliant and it's uniqueness would guarantee that it gets remembered over all other campaign ads. Got to get this on TV in NH and Iowa, now!

Script for 1 Min - Military endorsement commercial

1 minute - Ron Paul Military Commercial – Endorsement approach, I think this could really appeal to the military connected base.

Introduction

Scene 1 – I am Ron Paul and I am the defender of the Constitution -5 seconds

Scene 2 –MEPS graduates raising right hand swearing in and giving oath to defend the Constitution -20 seconds This is the background, This needs to be the sound of a large group giving the oath. All veterans will remember this day. However, it would be better to get video of the graduation when you have a large group in full uniform.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPPH7-e_AmY

Military Retiree or Active Duty endorsement

Scene 3 – I am retired Navy Master Chief ___________ _______________and I support Ron Paul Because he supports the constitution

Scene 4 - I am retired Army Colonel ___________ ____________ – I took an oath to defend the constitution. That’s why I support Ron Paul.

Closing Professional voice over

(This scene could possibly be the flag with words or panned photos of Ron Paul in military dress)
With Ron Paul as president our troops will be under American authority as required by the Constitution. Not under command of UN foreigners. Ron Paul proudly served America as a flight surgeon in Vietnam. He supports our veterans, he supports our troops and they support him. Of all Presidential candidates Ron Paul has received the most campaign contributions from active duty personnel for 2 quarters in a row. Sadaam was defeated. We have victory with honor now it is time to come home.

Remember the Oath -Defend the Constitution -Vote Ron Paul

I am Ron Paul and I approve this message……

Judge Napolitano rocks!!!

"One of Us" with Judge Napolitano speaking about Ron Paul
is by far and away the best of the five ads. Ad (1) with the
poker players is stupid.

All five are so badass...

Whoever made these I have to give mad props to... keep up the great work!

~~~~
"I would gladly take a bullet for Ron Paul if he was in danger. Gladly. Would you?"
Wow... the poker one is sooo bad ass
way to go!
~~~~
"I would gladly take a bullet for Ron Paul if he was in danger. Gladly. Would you?"

I Liked the Poker One

Though it would have been better if the baddie had pulled the Ace out of his sleeve.

;)

Ireland for Freedom

The Ace out of his sleave would have been rightous

That would really make that add hit home.

Unique ads that worked ...

The first 2 are Paul Wellstone ads from the 1990's. He was a political unknown that came from nowhere to win a Senate seat in Minnesota. These ads were what got him noticed.

The last clip has several ads, but the important ones to notice are Jesse Ventura's ads at the end of the clip. Jesse's story was similar to Wellstone's - political underdog not given a realistic chance by the experts (sound familiar??) til these ads were broadcast.

Point is, unique ads get you noticed. Especially powerful tool for those considered long shots by the "experts".

I take my marching orders from the Constitution!

I take my marching orders from the Constitution!

My 2 cents

Sorry, I have to disagree. I think a lot of these ads are "preaching to the choir", especially the gambling one. I don't think Joe sixpack cares about the Patriot Act or privacy as much as he cares for the bottom line and security. Most of Congressman Paul's ideas and initiatives just do not fit into a 30 second commercial. I think the ads should promote a call to learn by more about Ron Paul. This can be done by googling "Ron Paul" or by dialing 877-Ron Paul. Also, I think there is a huge need to "convert" Republicans because the primaries are mostly about engaging the respective parties with sorting out the "winners" from the "losers". We need to show that Ron Paul not only can, but must win and is a winner and a hero!

Fear is a very powerful motivating force and can be used to persuade to our advantage. What do we have to fear? The crashing dollar, going bankrupt by trying to save face, needlessly losing more lives, exposing our troops to diseased water and depleted uranium (not to mention the mental health crisis this war will produce.) We've also got the expansion of al-quaida as a direct result of our occupying the mid-east and building 14 bases in Iraq plus an embassy the size of the Vatican. People really need to be hit on the side of the head with disturbing information, Willy Horton-style. Hit on the opinion polls that say Americans want the war to end and that the "coalition" is over--that Iraq is now a US occupation and that they need to join other coalition nations in pushing the "baby bird" Iraqi government out of its nest.

I'd also like to see a child or children used to symbolize our future and how even a child can see that we need to promote peace. That LBJ ad seemed pretty effective way back when. Or explaining how much 2 trillion dollars is. "Mommy and daddy, I'm going to be paying for this for the rest of my life if you don't vote for Ron Paul!!!"

I think I'd also like to see an ad focusing on explaining what exactly is the Ron Paul Revolution. No one is talking about why folks are writing songs, painting their cars and yachts, renting blimps, showing up en masse for Ron Paul. The Ron Paul revolution is about real change and real hope and about waking up to the mess our country is in and realizing that we cannot afford to maintain the status quo. We cannot afford to elect another frat boy or good-ol' boy lawyer to be President.

I do think we need to do a little swiftboat-style advertising via an independent group. I'd like to see a lot of the millions Dr. Paul has made go into direct-mail and manning the 877 number.

OK, maybe this was 3 cents.

These all have strong points...

However, I thought that the ad contest was a perfect opportunity to cover as much ground on as many issues as possible in 30 seconds, since Ron rarely gets a chance to answer real questions in these debates. I think that that this ad would have done a great job introducing Paul and helping connect with the Republican base:

None are nearly as good as 'Something Big'

#1 is pretty creative, but none of these come close to the 'Something Big' ad. We needs ads that grab you whether you're watching or just listening. An NO ad should be run that only shows text over thirty seconds that could be read in five. We need commercials, not glorified power point presentations set to pretty music.

Bear in mind I'm being very critical of these as potential PAID advertisements.

#1 Wastes the audio track, sends a very targetted message that is only revealed in the end, by which time the viewer has probably moved on. This could be a useful ad for the general election, but I don't think it will generate interest at this stage.

#2 Visually boring. The message is powerful, but delivered too slowly. I doubt most people will know who Judge Napolitano is, though it's much better than having Ron Paul saying "I am the champion of the constitution" himself. If the judge would help remake this into a 15 second spot, it would be stronger.

#3 The "I am the champion of the constitution" quote comes across as conceited. As true as it is, it sets off peoples' bullshit detectors. If you're just listening, it's almost devoid of message. I agree that RP needs some on-message attack ads though. RP isn't very controversial, and he could use something to get people talking. Maybe Giuliani's picture could have him in drag. :)

#4 Is a very pretty slideshow.

#5 Is a very good concept, it just needs tuning. The audio quality of RP isn't high enough for a paid commercial. The static historical imagery needs to be cut a little faster to get to the campaign footage. All the still photos should be replaced with video footage.
-

OTOH, 'Something Big' is nearly perfect. Pure video, no moving slides. It delivers the maximum amount of message in 30 seconds. It hammers home his name with images without having to waste time saying it over and over. It shows the massive number of people who are supporting him. The short graphic at the end is beautiful and moving. The only thing that I would change is to add three chants of "Ron Paul" from supporters at then end. This is worth paying to show on TV. I would use this ad as a template for other parts of his overall message with new footage of suporters.

Ron Paul's strengths are his message, his supporters, his passionate speaking in front of supporters and his willingness to 'go there'. His weaknesses are that he looks frail (for a president), he's not aggressive, he's bad at getting a message across in less than five minutes, and he doesn't get energized easily unless he's in front of a crowd of supporters. He's getting better, quickly, but he's still behind the curve. The most important thing that a RP commercial should convey right now is that he has tons of supporters to counter the MSM assertion that he can't get elected. Priority #2 should be to push the message, HARD.

I hope the campaign has a videographer filming EVERY speech he makes and getting footage of supporters for commercials. I'd actually like to see them put up several of his speeches on YouTube every week.

In response to a post made by Relhak entitled "None are nearly as good as 'Something Big'"

He has made some great observations in his post.

Something Big? Texas big!!

Your comments are right on the mark! I couldn't agree more. I missed the debate and was gonna ask, before I Googled. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ur8F_c5PQg
Now that is EXACTLY what I was talking about in my 2 cents post!!! More people need to see this ad. The support, the message, the humility, the conviction--it's all there! My congratulations to whoever did this ad!

I think the *official winner* was best...

No offense... its an amusing commercial, but the point of a good campaign ad is to get as many of your political points across as you can in as short of a time as you can without being cluttered...
this video falls down in providing information for the masses...
The official winner was a great balance of time vs ideas... it was the best of the best! I hope the Ron Paul campaign will run with it and use it!

by the way - Can they??

Wrong

Trying to get dozens of points across in 30 seconds GUARANTEES that it will be forgotten or ignored. In this ad, the information is visual, requiring less brain power to process it. Most people's minds are running on autopilot as they watch commercials. The less thinking they have to do, the more likely they'll remember it. No voice overs and no printed words guarantees that the visual message will be totally absorbed without distraction.

I take my marching orders from the Constitution!

I take my marching orders from the Constitution!

Not that great of an ad

No offense to people who like this ad, but I think it's totally weak and ambiguous...

First of all, who's Ron playing against? Second of all, gambling has a negative association for most people... Third, is he gambling for the constitution?

It's just not a clear message, and it has nothing to offer people who are unfamiliar with Ron Paul...no picture of his face, no saying his name out loud...

Terrible in my opinion.

Of course it's sort of well produced and the music is emotional, but his ad would be a huge waste of money to put on the tv.

Totally disagree

You're obviously entitled to your opinion, but I think you're reading way too much into this. Nobody is gonna watch this and think that Ron Paul is promoting gambling. This ad simply says the Ron Paul Revolution has the winning hand. And it does it in such a unique way, the viewer is totally drawn in. This is absolutely critical in these states that have hundreds of ads shoved down their throats daily. It stands out. That is key.

I take my marching orders from the Constitution!

I take my marching orders from the Constitution!

Thanks....but

I am old and have spent a lot of time in marketing and business. I also have written screenplays and have a general understanding of the movies industry.

THIS DOES NOT I AM RIGHT. I trust in God enough to know this.

Anyway, ads are NOT MOVIES.

They are two different things. They do not even begin to resemble each other.

An ad MUST say the blatantly obvious and accessible thing in moments and say it with a subtext of authority. (meaning when the ad is over if you don't buy the product you are making a mistake.) Finally the ad has to have a hook. Usually the hook is visual,like a cute dog or a gorgeous girl, or whatever.

BUT, IF YOU CAN GET AN EMOTIONAL HOOK THAT IS PRACTICAL ALSO YOU GOT GOLD BABY!

These ads are cool and they try, but, they don't have "it." These folks are film makers using film making technique to get the story across which is fine but us humans from birth, are tuned for the "ad."

Now the ad below, that has a PAC getting it on TV, works because it it is clear and to the point and it introduces the all time home run point of Dr. Paul's candidacy. "For the first time in you life you can actually vote for change." Then you have the actors who address the camera well and and a script that is effortless to follow.

Best,

T

Unify

my commercial

Yeah, this guys understands 100%.

I've also worked in film for years here in NYC, and also in commercials for years. They are two entirely different beasts in every way. My outline for an ad was the following: (1) establsh conection with audience by presenting a common problem. (2) frustration at lack of solution (3) suddenly a solution to problem is discovered. (4) problem has been 100% solved and evryone is happy now (5) encourage audience to embrace product themselves and do like wise.

Anway this was my ad. It's going to be running in New Hampshire. It's very plain and typical advertising 101, but it works.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvCOA0LoMtY

THIS IS KEY TO REMEMBER:

Good filmmaking sells the film, but a good ad drives the product, not the ad itself. And that's the difference. You can HATE the commercial, but if it raises awareness for the product and leads to increased sales or public profile, it is still good advertising. That's not the way film works. Commericials and movies are two entirely differnt mediums with different purposes and different standards of success.

The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt

You make some good points, but ...

... I think you're forgetting something. These early primary states are being absolutely DELUGED with political ads right now. The people there have, without a doubt, started tuning them all out.

The only ad that will be effective at this late point in time in these states is an ad that is completely unique. The "card player" ad is exactly that type of ad. It's not even evident that it's a political ad until the last moment - then BAM - it reaches out and grabs you. It will be the only ad that will be remembered amongst the din. I guarantee it.

The official campaign…

The official campaign had BETTER start paying more attention to the creativity of its supporters. What the campaign organizers have been spending our hard earned contributions on, they could be getting ten times better for FREE. I sometimes get so frustrated, I could just scream.

Listen, I am not negative in the least, but I am very concerned. Ron Paul supporters represent the TRUE cross section of America. These rapid supporters work hard to create the ads that are of the type to move mountains, and change the most hardened of hearts and minds. To have the official Paul campaign IGNORE masterpieces such as the five just posted is beyond belief.

Somebody who has connections to the campaign should grab the publicity controller by the scruff of the neck and shake a little to get their attention. Ron Paul said at the last debate that they were having a hard time figuring out where to spend all the money that has been raised. Hello!!! Is anyone Home?

I absolutely LOVED all of the commercials posted. Thank you.

"It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." Samuel Adams

“Just look at us. Everything is backwards; everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information and religions destroy spirituality”

Those are great!

I can see the first one becoming a series, where we see other rights disappearing in the beginning. Need to bump the contrast on the type a little though. The animation in the second one is fantastic. Love the "Rounders" ad!

Thanks to you MDKidd

Wow! 30 seconds seems to go by fast in all of these great ads. Thanks for posting them. And I hope the campaign runs all of them.

#5, the first one I watched,

#5, the first one I watched, brought tears to my eyes it was so moving to me. The beautiful music is a bit too loud and Dr Paul's words need to come thru louder but it is truly Amazing to watch and feel. The ad with the stick people was uniquely creative and in my opinion, would stand out. The card ad was brilliant in that it drew u in and u just Had to see how it ended......

**the soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears**

Great Ads...

I liked #1 as well... Unique...

Why isn't anyone checking these out??

I thought these ads were outstanding, especially #1. Are you people not checking these out, or are you all just not as impressed as I was?

Ad #1 has a chance to be "The Ad". It is destined to be remembered throughout the entire campaign season - the one that everyone talks about at the water cooler.

You people have to realize that people in NH and Iowa have been DELUGED with campaign ads from every candidate in both parties. They're no doubt at the point of "tuning them all out". To get noticed and remembered at this point the ad MUST BE UNIQUE. This ad is just that. Please take a look.

Ad number 5 stuck a cord with me

WOW ad number 5! Sent chills down my spine.
