that if Paul wins the nomination and it's Paul vs, Hillary, some neocons will fight back their nausea and try to pull the lever for Hillary in order to keep the war going. At that point we might want a neocon flamethrower like Coulter urging them not to do it.

And, yeah, I too am nervous about any negative attention on the campaign... but then I have to say it can bring us more positive attention than our supposed association with supremacists and brothels.

I agree. This woman is a nut and the last thing we need is her "support." Honestly though, she is an establishment whore (I mean this in the colloquial sense) and she would never back someone with integrity like Dr. Paul.
Besides, the only folks to listen to this woman are soccer moms who drive big SUVs and will be voting for Romney because he's handsome--no need to worry....

We need to leave the door open for ALL Americans to join our battle for freedom. The more harshly we label them now, the harder it will be for them to join us later. Because, you see, Ron Paul is catching on! Hahahahaha!
But seriously, not everyone sees the light of liberty instantly. Some people are more set in their ways, more stuck in their thinking. Some people have a harder time letting go of the idea that it is proper for government to bully people who are different.
When you meet someone who is stuck on an anti-freedom position, you might try to look at it like a puzzle. See if you can find the key to helping them break the bad habit of warfare/welfare thinking.
If you meet someone who has bought into the whole Islamo-fascist fear and hate thing, try a different angle. Try working with them on the cost. With $9 trillion in debt we simply can't afford to police the world.
Another angle is to ignore the Middle East, where the war mongers have focused their propaganda, and look elsewhere. Why troops in Korea for fifty years? Japan? Germany? The Phillipines? Etc. Etc.
Be patient. Fear and hatred are powerful but we have truth and reason on our side. What seems like a rock-solid anti-freedom position can fall apart if you find the weak spot and work on it gently. Plant seeds and move on. Go back and water them. And move on. Go back and pull weeds. And move on. You might eventually find orchards of Liberty Trees growing. You can be Johnny Liberty Seed!!!!
But once you publicly call someone a "nut job" or some similar term (which, by the way, people have used on the good Doctor) you make it almost impossible for them to ever join us.
At this very moment, there are supporters of Rudy McRomson that ARE going to become Ron Paul supporters. They just don't know it yet.
Leave the door open.

Stop attacking them
Perhaps the first step in convincing "crazy nut" war supporters is to stop calling them crazy nuts.
In fact, you could stop THINKING of them as crazy nuts and attempt to understand the rationale behind their thinking. Millions upon millions of people in this country support the war. They don't all have the same reasons.
Some of them are "crazy nuts." Some Ron Paul supporters are "crazy nuts," too.
Most of them have rational reasons for their support of the war. Many are misinformed about the facts. Many haven't even CONSIDERED that we might be safer with a noninterventionist foreign policy.
If you want to persuade people, it's usually not wise to ridicule them.
Protections for anonymous speech are vital to democratic discourse. Allowing dissenters to shield their identities frees them to express critical, minority views...Anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of the majority. - SCotUS, 1995

I used to be one of those
war mongers but I woke up. And the thing is it didnt take long to change completely. One way to change there minds is explain that we have already won the war. Another is just plant the seed gently and watch it grow.

But you should still try. If you are good debater and know how to take a passive approach to questions you may be successful.

i'm looking at it the wrong way. convincing or converting isn't the way. i read on lew rockwell's blog how he blackmails neocons into voting for ron paul. he just tells them that just like ross perot in 92, paul will take at least 15% of the vote away from the republican nominee (because they automatically think Dr. Paul won't) meaning HILLARY WILL WIN. that basically scares them into voting for RP. I think he's right. i should try it out on a few war hawks.

That other post had hardly anyone who loved Ann Coulter on it - I certainly don't. It did have some people who didn't feel like you do. Oh my god!!!! Flag it, remove it!!!!! Why can't people talk about it? Come on. I am not saying you are wrong, she may well be so toxic for RP2008 it is better she doesn't endorse him.

She's not endorsing him, she's trashing him
She plays the game of the hands that feed her. They want Hillary to win and will do everything to support any dead horse from the GOP and that's why RP is a threat to them and they need to either smear him or associate him with nut cases or ignore him. Since ignoring him is no longer working you can count on more smearing and some quite subtle. Just beware of that.
