'NEW YORK (Reuters) - A federal judge on Monday ruled against an effort by the U.S. Federal Reserve to block disclosure of companies that participated in and securities covered by a series of emergency funding programs as the global credit crisis began to intensify.'

The Board's Motion for Summary Judgment is DENIED, and Bloomberg's Motion for Summary Judgment is GRANTED. Specifically:
1. The Board shall produce forwith the Remaining Term Reports within five business days of the date hereof;
2. The Board shall search forthwith records at the FRBNY that constitute "Records of the Board" within the meaning of 12 C.F.R. # 231.2(i)(1); and
3. The parties shall confer following their review of the results of the search and inform the Court by letter no later than September 14, 2009 how they propose to proceed.

I think it had something to do with the fact that nearly all their business circulates through some "real" govt agency at SOME point, especially the info specifically in question here, so it would fall under FOIA. I dunno... I think this is their last business day to comply, I hope something comes of this. All we need is enough insanity to come to light, then hopefully people will stop drowning themselves in the kool aid.

I agree that this is huge. I hope that people dont think that now an audit is not necessary, however. This is probably more a posturing concession by the FED than a striking example of our justice system in action.

With this court decision couldn't the Obama Administration claim that the FOIA is sufficient, and an audit of the Fed is not desirable or necessary?

The stall over the Fed continues and continues to absorb the energies of the grassroots. Such energy is lost in man hours to the far more important cause of throwing out the bums and replacing them with ANYONE!
Watch closely the FED response to this. It will give us a foretaste of things to come, even if all our resources are used up in passing the Fed Audit.... what will the FED do then? Just watch what they can do... stall for years!!
