Breaking: Obama to Nominate Bernanke to 2nd Term as Fed Chief
The NY Times is reporting:
WASHINGTON — President Obama on Tuesday will nominate Ben S. Bernanke to a second term as chairman of the Federal Reserve, administration officials said.
The announcement is a major victory for Mr. Bernanke, a Republican who was appointed by President George W. Bush almost four years ago and who had briefly served as chairman of Mr. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers.
A top White House official said Mr. Obama had decided to keep Mr. Bernanke at the helm of the Fed because he had been bold and brilliant in his attempts to combat the financial crisis and the deep recession.
“The president thinks that Ben’s done a great job as Fed chairman, that he has helped the economy through one of the worst experiences since the Great Depression and that he has essentially been pulling the economy back from the brink of what would have been the second Great Depression,” the White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, said Monday night.

I would like to see a vote of "No Confidence"
in the Senate Committee to prevent his re-appointment. That would be wishful thinking on my part. I hope he gets grill with tough question. Maybe we should fax or call the Senate Committee members with questions they should ask of him. Pressure our Senators to vote "Nay" in his re-appointment.

My guess is that the less people think & ponder the FED right
now, the better for those trying to control the government. If someone else were nominated right now, we would start wondering about them, looking at them w/ a fine tooth comb, which is not a bad thing & wondering about the FED in general & then we would see that there was this bill proposed by Congressman Ron Paul to audit the Fed & people would say why not & then ... HMmm what about change, change change, this isn't change. At least that is recognized. Will another statement be made about him being uniquely qualified, just as all the others whom we were promised wouldn't be appointed?
For some reason, we're expected to know every law that exists in America & in our state so we don't break it. We're supposed to know this when we're 18. There's no litmus test for them, as in the 10 commandments or rhyme or reason. C.U.R.E.

interesting timing for this
interesting timing for this 'announcement' seeing how the crunch is on to petition senators to co-sponsor S.604. The senate will also have to confirm Bernanke's appointment.

There's currently a poll, on the CNN.com main page, regarding
Benochio's nomination for another term. Currently, only about 36% of the poll respondents are against the nomination. Fox has a similar poll currently showing similar sentiments.

Tech Ticker Video About Bernanke: "It's the Devil We Know"
Lindzon's major concerns are twofold:
* The government stimulus isn't sticking: "We're a long way from normalcy," he says, citing the housing market in Phoenix, which continues to lag the national recovery. More generally, it's too soon to declare the economy has recovered from the bursting of the housing bubble, which he calls a "mood altering, wealth altering" event for many Americans.
* Even Too Bigger to Fail: The "too big to fail" policy has rewarded the biggest banks, including some of the most irresponsible, as discussed here. Lindzon notes these policies are coming at the expense of smaller, regional banks, which now face an uncertain future because of higher FDIC insurance fees and pressure to lend to non-creditworthy borrowers.

In so much as it is the FED that runs the government, then. . .
why would anyone be surprised that the puppeteer, has the puppet do the work of the puppeteer?

I read the article and was shocked to learn that Bernanke is only 55! He looks like hell, I thought he was closer to 65. I am 51 and I look at least 10 years younger than him. My boyfriend just said the same thing, he can't believe Bernanke is only 55! I guess living a life of deceit and robbing the American people ages you. WOW, I still can't believe it.

Maybe he needs the blood of a young, virgin child to rejuvinate him.

No one thought this pic
was incredibly funny?
That's probably good news
since a new appointee may get some sympathy as to whether HR 1207 should pass.
Pass the bill, audit the FED, everyone is shocked at the results, end the FED, blame Bernanke.
Works for me.

I was thinking the same thing
The current course for ending the Fed is moving in the right direction. We certainly don't need at this time for Congress or the public to have the false impression positive "changes" are being made and a reason to delay real action, giving the new guy some leeway.
Unless Ron Paul! -Lorax
I don't think the Chinese
I don't think the Chinese will like this re-appointment one bit. Didn't they tell DC that they didn't want him re-appointed? I wonder if the Chinese will dump more treasury bills as a sign that they aren't happy with this decision?

Well -
That would be a shocker -- If the President actually chose the Fed Chairman. He was selected from a list provided by the Board of Governors. I wonder how many names were on the list?......
