Southern Poverty Law Center = hate group

According to Carol M. Swain, professor of political science and law at Vanderbilt University, the phenomena known as "mission creep" has compromised the SPLC to the point it is in fact a agenda-driven hate group. Read about it here in the Huffington Post:

Just a little anecdote about
Just a little anecdote about Morris Dees. Quite a few years ago (over 10) I was working with another lawyer who knew Morris Dees quite well. I believe they went to law school together. Anyway, my friend wanted me to read a book by Dees that Dees had sent him. I read it. Thought it was basically leftist rhetoric. However, there was a statement in it - I can't recall exactly now - but basically was a wild charge of anti-semitism or racism at some group which I considered totally unsupported and uncalled for. I pointed this out to my friend who told me "Morris has to say things like that to get big Jewish donations". I don't know if that is actually what motivated Dees' anti-semitism charge and I aopologize for gossip mongering.

Basically I don't see any need for an apology because basically what I saw on MSNBC was gossip and rumor-mongering. Thanks for your contribution to the discussion. :)

An SPLC guy was on Chris matthews tonight
Going after the Birthers, the Open Carry supporters going to rallies carrying guns, Soverign citizens, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin (? ? ? ) and a U.S. Congressman ( unamed) Chris was worried that the same thing that happened in Nov. 1963 will happen again - he wouldn't even say the obvious A - word.
The interesting thing is, there are about 14 hate related killings per year in the U.S. - in a background of over 14,000 murders.
Those who "monitor" hate groups
are pretty much the real hate groups themselves. Its an old tactic.

If johnb66 is a member here I congratulate you for posting that scathing yet entirely accurate description of the SPLC's underlying mission as reply under the article.

Swain is right
Decades ago the SPLC confined its attentions to true haters like cross burning Klansmen and violence advocating Aryan Nations members. But now they include among the haters almost anybody opposed to illegal immigration and almost any member of a militia. The media has made much of the alleged sharp rise in the number of hate groups in the past couple of years. But those numbers come from the SPLC and really just reflect its mission creep. For example the mainstream Federation for American Immigration Reform is listed as a hate group by the SPLC.
Morris Dees is a scumbag of the higest order. For 25 years+ he`s
been spewing his hate and the MSM eats it up. He is a divider not a uniter. He is also backed by powerful interests that have much to gain by dividing the American people into groups so that they can be sold into the slavery of a NWO.

Communists/Socialists/Fascists flock to FREE MONEY!!!!
This is why every great builders of business who obtained his wealth through the practice of conservative principals money eventually becomes controlled by some "ELITE THINKER" who is going to change the world... they are social engineers, useless idiots whom have figured out how to game the system... lawyers, politicians, judges, college professors who couldn't hold down a minimum wage job in the REAL BUSINESS WORLD yet they control the policies and politics of the world... WHY? Because we were busy living our lives in a country we had been educated to believe(by the same usurpers) was free, building our companies, living our lives. All the while this bunch of politically minded individuals usurped our governments from local to state to federal, enacted a bunch of laws that no one would have ever believed could have been enacted and even if they were enacted... these regulations "don't apply to me, I'm an individual with Constitutional Protection".
We were out there doing something to actually make a positive impact in our communities through creating jobs and building businesses and hiring the ones with records etc we do not ask for anything, WE just do because that is what you are supposed to do. You aren't supposed to rely on the government for ANYTHING, these people don't ask for a MEDAL for doing what they do, it is done because from those to whom much is given, much is expected. It's not right to remove your money from the economy, we could "take our money and go home" and live quite a nice life, but that would be very selfish and we would rather be an employer and help raise the standard of living for my employees.
IF you don't manufacture / add value to a product, dig something from the ground (mine), or farm you merely suck money from those who provide these services. Financial companies, lawyers, politicians, remove currency from circulation or mis-allocate the funds from where they would truly add the greatest benefits to society. (eg. Full employment)

The above article reminds me
The above article reminds me of another article on he SPLC a friend showed me awhile back, written by Peter Gadiel. Here is the link to it

Also this other link about the SPLC and the ADL is worth checking out too

I Agree
The mission of the SPLC seems to be to demonize Conservative groups and associate them with racist and anti-Semitic organizations. In this manner, they generate hatred against the Conservative groups.
Other sources of hatred are those individuals and government agencies which associate returning Iraqi veterans as "potential terrorists". Politicians have long been the greatest source of hatred, and they use and promote private organizations that also promote hatred.
What is interesting to me is that we have a "Civil Rights Commission", which really does more to promote animosity between people of different color than it does to protect our civil rights. The fact is, it is our politicians who have been undermining the Bill of Rights, which is the source of our civil rights.
I am referring to the never ending assault on the Second Amendment, the threat to resurrect the "Fairness Doctrine" or to "monitor" the Internet -both assaults on the First Amendment.
Then there is the Patriot Act and the Department of Homeland Terrorism. The use of torture, and branding people with unpopular views as "terrorists". These are direct attacks on the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Amendments.
