Obama to make unprecedented address to all public school students

Obama to make unprecedented address to all public school students on September 8

The long march continues apace as Great Leader drives us toward the new America with nationalized everything.. .if you have a strong stomach read the word.docs linked below with recommended classroom activities before and after the speech (be warned, if you love the Constitution you will want to barf)

In a recent interview with student reporter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DrP-695ATg-c , Damon Weaver, President Obama announced that on September 8 - the first day of school for many children across America - he will deliver a national address directly to students on the importance of education. The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens.

Since taking office, the President has repeatedly focused on education, even as the country faces two wars, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and major challenges on issues like energy and health care. The President believes that education is a critical part of building a new foundation for the American economy. Educated people are more active civically and better informed on issues affecting their lives, their families and their futures.

This is the first time an American president has spoken directly to the nation's school children about persisting and succeeding in school. We encourage you to use this historic moment to help your students get focused and begin the school year strong. I encourage you, your teachers, and students to join me in watching the President deliver this address on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. It will be broadcast live on the White House website http://www.whitehouse.gov/ at 1:00 p.m. eastern standard time.

In advance of this address, we would like to share the following
resources: a menu of classroom activities for students in grades preK-6
http://www.ed.gov/teachers/how/lessons/prek-6.doc and for students in grades 7-12 http://www.ed.gov/teachers/how/lessons/7-12.doc . These are ideas developed by and for teachers to help engage students and stimulate discussion on the importance of education in their lives. We are also staging a student video contest on education. Details of the video contest will be available on our website
http://www.ed.gov/ in the coming weeks.

On behalf of all Americans, I want to thank our educators who do
society's most important work by preparing our children for work and for
life. No other task is more critical to our economic future and our
social progress. I look forward to working with you in the months and
years ahead to continue improving the quality of public education we
provide all of our children.

Sincerely,
------
The Pre K-6 Word Document
PreK-6 Menu of Classroom Activities: President Obama’s Address to Students Across America
Produced by Teaching Ambassador Fellows, U.S. Department of Education
September 8, 2009

Before the Speech:
Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama and motivate students by asking the following questions:
Who is the President of the United States?
What do you think it takes to be President?
To whom do you think the President is going to be speaking?
Why do you think he wants to speak to you?
What do you think he will say to you?
Teachers can ask students to imagine being the President delivering a speech to all of the students in the United States. What would you tell students? What can students do to help in our schools? Teachers can chart ideas about what they would say.
Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?
During the Speech:
As the President speaks, teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful. Students could use a note-taking graphic organizer such as a Cluster Web, or students could record their thoughts on sticky notes. Younger children can draw pictures and write as appropriate. As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following:
What is the President trying to tell me?
What is the President asking me to do?
What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?
Students can record important parts of the speech where the President is asking them to do something. Students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?
Students can record any questions they have while he is speaking and then discuss them after the speech. Younger children may need to dictate their questions.

After the Speech:
Teachers could ask students to share the ideas they recorded, exchange sticky notes or stick notes on a butcher paper poster in the classroom to discuss main ideas from the speech, i.e. citizenship, personal responsibility, civic duty.
Students could discuss their responses to the following questions:
What do you think the President wants us to do?
Does the speech make you want to do anything?
Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us?
What would you like to tell the President?
Teachers could encourage students to participate in the Department of Education’s “I Am What I Learn” video contest.† On September 8th the Department will invite K-12 students to submit a video no longer than 2 min, explaining why education is important and how their education will help them achieve their dreams.††Teachers are welcome to incorporate the same or a similar video project into an assignment. More details will be released via www.ed.gov.

Extension of the Speech: Teachers can extend learning by having students
Create posters of their goals. Posters could be formatted in quadrants or puzzle pieces or trails marked with the labels: personal, academic, community, country. Each area could be labeled with three steps for achieving goals in those areas. It might make sense to focus on personal and academic so community and country goals come more readily.
Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.
Write goals on colored index cards or precut designs to post around the classroom.
Interview and share about their goals with one another to create a supportive community.
Participate in School wide incentive programs or contests for students who achieve their goals.
Write about their goals in a variety of genres, i.e. poems, songs, personal essays.
Create artistic projects based on the themes of their goals.
Graph student progress toward goals.

Tues is a teacher furlough day!

I just thought it was kind of ironic that the local school system has to have a teacher furlough day on Tuesday so nobody will hear the speech at the schools anyway!

If the mainstream media didn't report it, it didn't happen!

If the mainstream media didn't report it, it doesn't exist!

What is wrong here?

What is wrong with you people? Since when is education only for Democrats? My republican parents taught me the same value of education! When I was a kid the President of the US addressed us and told us to get a good education. Do Republican really hate children and American that much now?

What is wrong here?

That's what I'm wondering. It seems like some other site (who has no clue who/what we are) has posted marching orders to come here without really knowing what goes on here.

I do hope you stick around a while and find out.

Heres the problem I have

I just dont think that anyone in any office who swears an oath to the Constitution should be allowed to be in office much less be able to tell us what to do..how to raise our kids and try to recurit them for his private army...I think you have a major problem in the fact you believe what Obama said....
I would like you to list 10 things he said he would do when he was running that he has done....

Freedom is another way to God...A corrupt government is a straight way to hell.

I believe in Hope & Change..I Hope the government will Change

lol...

Yep, coming here and telling us we hate America is a great way to win us over... :)

My daughter's school has lost a day of revenue over this... And Obama is gonna have egg on his face when 20-30% of the school children don't show... lmao...

Talk about a hit to the school budgets...

And for the record, this isn't about him being a Democrat. If Bush had of done this, I would react the exact same way.

All government, federal, local and state has gone TOO far! But Obama has given us an opportunity. An opportunity of monumental proportion.

He has put his nose out there to get whacked. This is why politicians don't take the "big" chances. When they do, they wind up looking like crap. They force this false war between Reps and Dems, which provides them significant benefit. But it is also a weakness. Because even when they win, they are guaranteed that 40+% of the population hates them.

Thank you for posting this!

I took this an opportunity to explain to my 4 year old son the role of the President and his legal power over public school education. I explained to him that "the President is the babysitter for our government and the Constitution is the list of rules left by the parents" he has to follow the rules he is given or else he will get in trouble and not be allowed to babysit again - lol!

This also encouraged me to reach out to my friends and family who read my blog, to prepare their children for this "lesson" and put in the proper perspective. My blog is below, I am sure there are many good talking points to derive from this attempt by the President to unjustly influence our children - but it is my hope that a few children educated by their parent's ahead of time can open up some eyes in their classrooms!

Obama and Administration

are doing everything they can to see his approval rating dive down and down ..... I wouldn't be surprised to see some Dems that even voted for him bail on him - they seem to do everything they can to shoot themselves in the foot ..... let it be!

I was happy to see that my

I was happy to see that my wife says she will pull our kids from School when this idiot makes his speech...

Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama and motivate students by asking the following questions:

Who is the President of the United States?
-A radical socialist with the voting record to prove it.

What do you think it takes to be President?
-A rich father, a recognizable last name, lots of money, lots of corrupt friends.

To whom do you think the President is going to be speaking?
-To anyone who is impressionable.

Why do you think he wants to speak to you?
-To indoctrinate.

What do you think he will say to you?
-Hope, change, community, progress, green, education.

Teachers can ask students to imagine being the President delivering a speech to all of the students in the United States. What would you tell students?
-Restore the Constitution and throw the criminal bums out, restore sound money.

What can students do to help in our schools?
-Abolish them in favor of private schools. Reject the ideas of our liberal government hired teachers.

Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor?
-To plan to protect ourselves against their agendas.

Why is what they say important?
-Because we have a country full of sheople.

This is a very rough draft trying to get thoughts down and will surely change by the time it is printed. I will be including website links as well, but if anybody would like to help in wording the front page, by all means. so far:

TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE ********* ****** SCHOOL DISTRICT

On Tuesday, Septermber 8, 2009, an unprecidented and historic event will take place in all public schools across the nation. President Barrak Obama will be making a twenty minute speech, broadcast directly via webcast, to millions of school children across the country, your children.

Whether you are or are not a supporter of our president, as an American, as parents, you must understand and agree that political ideology does not belong in the classroom. In trust, we leave our children in the hands of educators everyday with the expectation they will teach our children to read, write, spell and learn mathamatics, not politics.

Looking for the last paragraph which will be a call to action.

The Plan Has Been Altered

After much criticism regarding President Obama’s plan to address America’s school children, The Washington Post is reporting that the administration has redesigned the effort. Initially, Obama’s team came up with the wonderful idea of pitching to school children in order to solidify some support of his misguided policy initiatives. Since, the Obama team is unable to garner support from the majority of America’s adult population for his socialist agenda, they decided to have Obama address the children to shore up some support...

http://thelibertyjournal.com/2009/09/03/obamas-plan-to-addre...

I just hung up the phone after a lengthly conversation

with the superintendant of our school district. I will try to be brief. Basically, he said the decision what up to the principals of each school. He said he believed most schools will tape the webcast to be used in future lesson plans. He said he has received numerous phone calls this morning about the issue and said, "the firestorm came out of nowhere." I informed him the firestorm is spreading across the nation and it will get worse. He asked me why I thought that and I told him because the schools are not informing parents about this webcast which indicates to me the WH knows this would be unacceptable and by not advising parents demonstrates deciet by the school districts. There was more chit chat.

I wanted to be really mad on the phone, but couldn't because the good doctor actually agreed with everything I said. I told him there is no room for politics in the classroom. He laughed and said he couldn't agree with me more. I told him B. Obama is the last person I want influencing my daughters 6 year old mind. He couldn't agree more. When I asked him why he would allow this to happen since he was in agreement he simply stated it was out of his control. When I further advised him:

My daughter will not be in school on tuesday:
1500 fliers will be placed on windsheilds over the weekend:
The day my daughter comes home and mentions a speech by B. Obama is the day I pull her out of school:

His response was, good for you.

Apparantly,

the WH is aware that some citizens are angry about the indoctrination intended for the kids. They have changed the wording in the course recommendations - http://www.dailypaul.com/node/105549

Yesterday there was a video of students singing

about Obama, can someone repost that link. Thanks.

Obama knows and uses NLP

as if it is his native tongue!! You should not subject yourself to it, much less your children. He hypnotizes as if he is having a casual conversation.

Msm is reporting that the white house is receiving resistance. We all need to call, email, fax and do our little thing we do that always seems to make a difference.

Basically this is like shifting the responsibility for your child to the state (fed govt). Like he thinks, "Now I am responsible for the children, so I need to speak directly to my children. What I say to my children does not have to be cleared with their parents. The parents need to get clear about who the children belong to."

Offensive

This is repugnant. I will be asking about this at the meeting before school starts for my kids. If this event is scheduled for their schools, I will find out if I can be present and present and provide other viewpoints if necessary or if I may withhold my child from this activity. I will let them know that I oppose any Federal indoctrination and politicizing of children and that it has no place in our school system (not that they aren't getting it anyhow - but this is so extreme). Hopefully if I present this viewpoint in front of the other parents it will persuade them to question this event as well.

I can understand both going to school and not going

on that day.....
if you keep them out - that is great - an obvious protest ....

but, if you let them go - (perhaps wearing appropriate Ron Paul attire
or similar) and go yourself ... or a liberty guardian to go and monitor -
and if it looks like the teacher is giving a slanted one way recap .....
exercize your right - and ask if you can speak ....

if you home school maybe take your kids someplace where this is going to be aired to listen to as learning how - never before in history of USA
has a president addressed children - why? and discuss what he says...

then, pass out Libery information to all the students after school on the
public sidewalk off capus .....

Is this going to be for all grades?

I haven't spent time yet to read all about it ....

Bump

National "Stop Indoctrinating our Children" Day - Sept. 8, 2009

Facebook Users:

On September 8, 2009 President Obama will make an unprecedented address directly to all public school students. The speech will bypass all media outlets and be broadcasted directly to the schools via the White House's website.

In an attempt to make a mass statement to our local schools and say we will not tolerate this type of indoctrination by our federal government we are calling for all parents to keep their children out of school on the day of his speech. We are also encouraging everyone to contact their school administration and school board and inform them of the reason their children will not be in school.

We will not sit down silently while this administration corrupts our children with it's socialist/fascist ideology. Nor will we sit quietly as they sell our children on the necessity of mandatory national servitude.
