Social Security explained

If there's anybody here who's having trouble convincing their friends and family that Social Security needs to be eliminated, try this. Just explain to them what Social Security actually is.
The government first takes a small amount of money out of every single paycheck you get and then promises to pay you back in fifty years.

So what would you say to the argument
that the Federal Government has made an agreement, a contract, with the people. Should that contract be abrogated without the consent of those receiving social security payments?
Shouldn't the government keep its promises, even those some may disagree with?
Don't forget , the small print
Unless they can kill you first. fluoride, injections, mercury, ect
If voting could really change things,
it would be illegal. Here is hoping for change!
that's it in a nutshell
instead of you being empowered to save for your own retirement, they disempower you by forcing you to depend on government to do it for you.
slave-mind mentality.
Despite what so many erroneously believe, that is not the case
There is NO promise, made by anyone, on paper, or in any official capacity, that the money deducted from your check under "FICA" will EVER be paid back to you in any amount, if at all.
Anyone who believes otherwise, simply believes such, without ANY verifiable proof in any LAW that makes such a promise.
The cold hard truth is that the FICA tax and the paying out of "Social Security" checks are two separate things and events that are linked only in people's imaginations. The Supreme Court has ruled definitively that such an "insurance scheme" is unconstitutional, and that what has been inacted is NOT an insurance scheme or anything of the sort. What exists is on the one hand, Congress exercising its power to tax, in this case, an excise on the privilege of working for the government, or earning money as a non-resident alien or for a foreign corporation operating domestically. (and for anyone wishing to be treated as such - that covers you and I - since we opted into the program)
On the other hand, you have Congress appropriating funds to be spent under its power to spend to "promote the general welfare." While the "general" vs. "specific" can be argued here, the SCOTUS has ruled that it fits under that power so its okay. (for now) The court has SPECIFICALLY stated that Congress can END "benefit" (aka welfare to the elderly) payments and still keep the TAX!! The two are not tied together in any sense.
There is no "trust fund" or any account that is kept separate. There is no "promise to pay." There are no "obligations to seniors." The court has ruled repeatedly that NO ONE has any claim to any funds out of the public treasury except as APPROPRIATED by Congress which they do each and every year.
Like many other things in our lives, this is one of those "myths" that people have fostered and fueled and passed on to their kids. It isn't true. There is no "Social Security Program", there are no "obligations" there is no "trust fund" and there are no "promises." The government NEVER made any promise in any law that anyone having their earnings taxed and recorded would ever be paid a dime. Never.
Anyone who believes or insists otherwise has been had, duped, swindled, conned, etc. by sleezy and smarmy politicians interested in taking your money and spending it the way they want to. (note, they have spent all the excess FICA taxes collected over the decades on things other than benefit payments)
(*note, "qualifying" for benefits - aka welfare, does not "entitle" you to payment or constitute a "promise" on behalf of government to you.)
