Bill would give president emergency control of Internet

Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.
They're not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.
The new version would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "non-governmental" computer networks and do what's necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for "cybersecurity professionals," and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license.

Rockefeller to close down Internet and Daily Paul?
Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, has spent months behind closed doors. Reviewing a copy of the 55-page draft of S.773 which permits the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called “cybersecurity emergency.” The bill would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" relating to "non-governmental" (this means private computers—yours) computer networks and do what's necessary to respond to the threat. The proposal include a federal certification program for "cybersecurity professionals," (more bureaucratic BS) and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been licensed by the GOVERNMENT.

The Brave New World is steadily inching closer under Barrack Hussein Obama, I can see.
What's the status on this lunacy? Will the Nazionalize the Internet bill pass?
Revolution!!!
I said it before and I'll say it again. We need a revolution.
"That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of [life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness], it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it…" ~ Declaration of Independence of the American Colonies, 1776
The blitzkrieg continues...
Banking, healthcare, auto, industry, manufacturing, economy, and now the internet. They are dropping so many bombs it's impossible to shield ourselves against them all. I am very afraid for my country and my freedom and if you've been paying attention to the power grab that GW Bush started and Obama streamlined, then you are afraid too. What can we do when our elected representatives refuse to represent us and the Constitution? Where do we turn?
RonPaulIsMyPresident.com
Don't forget to add in
Don't forget to add in amnesty for over 20 million illegal aliens, which is what Obama will try to pass after healthcare... I think if that amnesty passes, it will mean democrats will get millions more reliable democrat voters(seeing as how approximately 80% of illegals in this country are hispanic and obama got far more of the hispanic vote than did McCain)and it will entice millions more to enter illegally to remain here and wait for the next mass amnesty, to help keep the democrats winning elections and keeping control of government.
Who exactly are these "aids"
Who exactly are these "aids" who draft this type of legislation? We know that most of our senators and representatives are not smart enough to write it, let alone read it. They just vote as they are told.
I think these "aids" would have fit in better in the Reichstag of the mid Thirties. You will recall that Hitler demanded extraordinary powers to deal with "emergencies". Isn't this really the same thing? The Nazis called their emergency powers bill "The Enabling Act". This act enabled Hitler to take over virtually every aspect of the German state. Why are the American people allowing the same thing to happen here.
Just as a foot note, the Congress can not increase the power of the Executive Branch. That would take an amendment to the Constitution. Not that most of these fools care. They are just enjoying the best job they ever had, and will continue to do as they are told. They don't care much what the Constitution says, and they damn sure don't care about us.
Just remember what they thugs have done to you when it's time to vote them out.

This is another telling clue
If there are multiple independent operators and dozens of core backbone node points across the net, then how is "security" advanced by creating a single point of control? If currently it would take dozens of work crews in dozens of states to take down the web, then how does providing for the ability to take it down all at once from a central point make it more safe? Unless this has nothing to do with securing the net from external threat. Maybe this has to do with stopping the outbreak of some undesirable information. If the government already has the "emergency broadcast system" and there's no facility in place to use the web to communicate to the american people in an emergency, then what threat could necessitate our own government wanting to take down the net under ANY circumstance? Bottom line: this creates the ability for the government to stop the people from broadcasting information to each other. That doesn't enhance anybody's safety.
...right on...
...don't look now, but here comes our loving government to save the internet from ourselves...

legalize: Nelson is also a co-sponsor on this miserable bill.
Obama-mania control of America continues, first the Census was pulled to the White House, now a bill that would give Obama and his unscrupulous cronies’ control of the internet is making its way through the Senate. The fact that Florida’s own, Bill Nelson, is a cosponsor is alarming and Central Floridians will not be happy.
The sponsor and other cosponsors are:
Sen Bayh, Evan [IN] - 4/2/2009
Sen Snowe, Olympia J. [ME] - 4/1/2009
Sen Rockefeller, John D., IV (Sponsor)

Jay Rockefeller is a COMMUNIST.
He's on record as saying that basically the general public was never supposed to have the internet... that it was for them (the oligarchs) not us.
IMHO it is another spoke of the information network begun in the 1700's by the Rothschilds which they used to gain trade advantage on commodity, currency, and stock exchanges through the use of information networks set up to provide the best most up to date information. OR provide wrong information to others so as to manipulate markets.
