Gary Clift declares- I am a Ron Paul Republican

My goal with others (namely Shawn Parker) of getting the term "Ron Paul Republican" into the dialogue has started and it's happening. Gary Clift in this video declares himself a Ron Paul Republican. As I don't believe in the left-right paradigm, I think we need terms to identify our beliefs, and most of us are working within the Republican party to get the 2010/2012 candidates elected. The term Republican for me has no meaning unless those other two words are in front of it.

Mike Shanklin along with myself helped Gary get involved with the Ron Paul community. I'm thankful to be part of this, and to see that we can actually do this. The election is on Sept 1 - Tuesday. Anyone can make a difference.

let our prayers be for Gary. On one particular poll online ,Gary has over 50% of the vote against the others that I saw a few weeks ago with over 20,000 people in that poll. We will see how this plays out.

lets hope he understands principle and stands by his positions instead of being a johnny come lately hoping to secure votes.

In the end, as Paul says... 'Principle is what counts.'

Until I hear my rep championing civil liberties he can kiss my ass. The only concern I have is for our Liberty and nothing more. I dont need my government to do anything other than protect my childs rights.

Thomas Paine told us that if war were to come that he wished it in his time so his children could be free. Im with him.

I wish Clift was more of a Ron Paul republican than he actually is. He's gone against what Ron Paul advocates as far as giving citizenship to illegal aliens.
Ron Paul is against it, Clift is for it. Ron Paul correctly points out that giving citizenship to illegal aliens will just entice millions more to sneak in illegally.
I realize that to call yourself a Ron Paul republican, you don't have to agree with Ron Paul on everything, but I just wanted to point that out.

I found the information on the republican liberty caucus website. Here is a quote about Clift from the site under Immigration. "As a practical matter, supports a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants in the country."

If that quote is wrong, I'd expect Clift to contact them and change it, but my guess is, the information is accurate or else he would have found out and had the republican liberty caucus correct the information.

I would also remind you what Dr. Paul mentioned about illegal immigration.

Ron Paul said in a 1988 interview that he thought US immigration policy should be the same as it was for the first 150 years; that is, "we didn't have one". He has supported a free market in labor many times and made it clear that immigrants are just convenient scapegoats.

CA is a mess with the illegal entitlement issues. Even if Gary is partially off-base somewhat on this particular issue, I haven't found anything else through discussion with him over the phone that is concerning.

One thing that concerns me is that if we as a movement try to shove every single candidate on every issue in a box, this won't work.

We need to stand for the following without compromise:
- Adherence to the Constitution
- Limited Government
- Humble Foreign policy
- Sound Money principles

The rest should take care of itself if this is followed.

Yes, I know that Ron Paul had a different position on illegal immigration back in the 70's and 80's, but I was referring to Ron Paul's recent position which is no amnesty(no citizenship)for illegal aliens. Check these links

is perfect. Unless of course if you are Democrat and then there are "Ron Paul Democrats." :)

Hopefully there will be NO third party votes until we get our country back. We all need to be in the same place and they want us out. But they can't force us out, at least not yet. So I am IN.

Mr. Clift is a Californian, quiet spoken, speaks without notes, speaks with conviction and says all the right things. He MUST remain true to himself when he gets tempted by big money.

If your voting area offers a Constitutional candidate, regardless to Party affiliation our lack thereof, support these people.

The local elections, are important, like the County Sheriff.

We need to stoke the fires of freedom that are breaking out and help them grow.

Today is the last day voters have to put their absentees in the mail. So today will be the last day our phone program at http://phone.cliftforcongress.com/ will give the numbers of absentee voters. Have wanted to get that term into the mainstream dialogue to identify ourselves better. I started with a website, etc. I think it's a good strategy move as the GOP is where we will be making inroads, and it's not going to be easy. I do think it's happening. The more that term is used, the easier it will be to identify each other and what values we share. I also want to make it known so that even the GOP acknowledges that there are enough of us to label us as a group, thus to further spread Dr. Paul's message. There have been Goldwater Republicans, Regan Republicans, and now Ron Paul Republicans.

I did not invent the word or term by any means.
