and thanks for posting!
I've been talking this same argument for years and posting often on the DP about getting the MIDDLEMEN OUT of healthcare!! Good job John Stossel on showing the common sense answer to this issue that many people just can't seem to understand....including the socialists at the top screaming for socialized/nationalized healthcare.
About the only thing I wish he had included is that the many thousands of salaries in the insurance industry siphon off monies that would normally go to paying our doctors directly and cause the costs to go UP, UP and UP. The extra paper pushers at the doctor's offices - more salaries that the doctor has to pay - keep the costs high too. That's why we can't afford it any more.....

overhead cost average is lower than the figures offered to me by various provider operations. I don't know where that average figure came from or exactly what additional costs it takes into consideration, but I've yet to encounter a healthcare provider organization that has overhead costs that low. Most I've worked with report costs of over 1/3, when all additional personnel, office space, additional equipment and compliance costs are considered. And that's really just one aspect of what the video mentioned.

The paperwork, the bureaucracy, the administration costs.
Insurance companies ARE a microcosm of what National Healthcare would become. Probably worse, because Insurance companies are private companies, the employees are expected to perform at some level of efficiency. Not as much with Government employees.
It's a pretty good argument to say "if you think it's bad now, wait until Uncle Sam is your provider.
Double Bump! However, in addition to John Stossel's excellent points, we need to ask and demand the answer to the question of where does it say in the Constitution that Congress has ANY right within Article one Section eight to promote government control of our individual health care? Please contact your congressional rep ASAP and demand, in writing, an answer to this important question!
Finally, somebody is saying something I've thought for years. As a member of a Healthcare Profession, it has been apparent that without insurance, healthcare prices COULDN'T be as high as they are ... no one could afford healthcare. And think about it, insurance companies exist to make profit (they are one of the most profitable businesses in the country). So on top of enabling high high prices to be charged by healthcare providers, they are siphoning off millions, billions of more money. Yes, this is the REAL problem.

Correct. When there should only be two parties (the individual and the doctor), we now have a third party, the insurance company that gets a piece of the action...
So obviously if you remove that third party from the equation, we'd all be a lot richer...
cheapest doctor may not be in your best interest,BUT then again you definitely don't always get what you pay for. Dental cost are outrageous and from what I've seen dental insurance is so high you may as well pay out of pocket. I have always wondered why insurance companies don't consider teeth and eyes part of HEALTH care. Two important factors in quality of life.

"Insurance makes healthcare far more expensive"
Finally, somebody is saying something I've thought for years. As a member of a Healthcare Profession, it has been apparent that without insurance, healthcare prices COULDN'T be as high as they are ... no one could afford healthcare. Correct. When there should only be two parties (the individual and the doctor), we now have a third party, the insurance company that gets a piece of the action...
So obviously if you remove that third party from the equation, we'd all be a lot richer...
What we generally have now
What we generally have now is not insurance. It's a pre-paid health care card. When it becomes a shared credit card, watch out!
Going to the

Food is also critical to the
Food is also critical to the human body... Maybe we should have food insurance?
We need to concentrate much
We need to concentrate much more on this very important yet logical message of getting rid of the middleman.
Send this video to all of your friends. It's very important that people understand this simple concept.
this was a good video
thanks for sharing it. i think i will forward on to my family.
