Why then is he { Gates } so angry at having the war photographed? Easy: Spin control. Spin is so very important in war these days. While America is only barely a democracy, still, if the public, the great sleeping acquiescent ignorant beast, ever gets really upset, the war ends. The Pentagon is acutely aware of this. It remembers its disaster in Asia. The generals of today learned nothing military from Vietnam—they are fighting the same kind of war as stupidly as before—but they learned something more important: Their most dangerous enemy is the America public. You. Me. Defeating the Taliban isn’t particularly important, or even desirable. (No war means fewer promotions and fewer contracts). But while the Taliban cannot possibly defeat the Pentagon, the American public can.

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul

I have to congratulate Cindy

I have to congratulate Cindy Sheehan for her consistency. She is protesting against the Obama war policies. But I notice that MoveOn and all the other leftist organizations that were happy to have her on their side during the Bush administration have abandoned her now that the statist of their choice is in power.

Me, Cindy Sheehan, and Ron Paul !

I may be the last surviving member of a group formed in the 1980's called beyond war.
Like everything else it required money to send newsletters and long term commitment from people who would take the time off from their busy lives to protest publicly.

How do we stop a war?

Ron Paul has said you simply stop the funding for war, but his no funding votes in Congress are usually way out numbered by the war-mongers.

Next best thing is to stop using Federal Reserve notes whenever possible.

End the Fed & Abolish the IRS would do it !

Ron Paul Is My President !

"American Antiwar Movement Plans an Autumn Campaign Against Policies on Afghanistan "

Excerpt:

“People do not want to take on the administration,” said Jon Soltz, chairman of VoteVets.org. “Generating the kind of money that would be required to challenge the president’s policies just isn’t going to happen.”

Tom Andrews, national director for an antiwar coalition, Win Without War, said most liberals “want this guy to succeed.” But he said the antiwar movement would try to convince liberals that a prolonged war would undermine Mr. Obama’s domestic agenda. Afghanistan, he said, “could be a devastating albatross around the president’s neck.”

bright enough to know not to

bright enough to know not to trust bush and his excuses for war but somehow not quite bright enough to recognize the facts when it comes to 'their" guy's excuses for war... so sad and so unfortunate for everyone... great example of why this is not a side issue, rather an american issue.

Yep

i agree... as my now 30 year

i agree... as my now 30 year old daughter says and has said since grammar school... "it's the principle, no matter the subject, what is important always has been and always will be, the principle."

Just a few who have suffered loss of a loved one.

Otherwise, Democrats and Republicans like war, like killing those who they see as sub-human, and don't really give a crap about the financial cost either.

Freedom fighters worldwide...

need to unite against usury. I see this as the only way we can rout them out. Maybe not permanently but at least to get a hold of the corruption.

Too busy

with the war at home?

The same people that

The same people that protested G.W. Bush's prescription drug program.
Nobody.

Keep calling them out.

Their flip flop is disgusting; they've totally lost credibility.

We are.

The Ron Paul Republicans. That's about it.

Very true.

Luckily we have some steadfast individuals like Cindy Sheehan fighting with us. Hopefully more people will let the Obama effect wear off and realize what a hard hoax this really was.

It's ironic

That the people who've been successfully conditioned to brand any criticism of Obama as "racism" could be so apathetic to the U.S.'s destruction of so many people of other races.

Good point

The racism is only when we protest more government intervention domestically! Never mind if we're killing and displacing thousands of innocent individuals in countries that never threatened the U.S.

Exactly

and I'm glad you understood what I meant- I couldn't figure out how to phrase it.

It's really just totally bizarre.

Fact is, Obama is actively taking advantage of America's lingering racist tendencies. He capitalizes on their apathy about Middle Easterners dying, to push forward his puppet masters' agendas.

this point is not lost on many of us...

in the revolution...

the zionists kill the palestinians, the american imperialistic "machine" kills iraqis, afghanistans, now pakistanis, and soon to be iranians (is it in the name of oil or the almighty dollar?), yet "we" who criticize are labled as racists!

funny how "they" cherry pick their racism...
