Ignorant of Constitution, Rand's GOP Opponent Slams Him on Abortion
Bill Johnson, the "other" GOP senate candidate has been criticizing Rand for his positions on abortion, marijuana and prostitution as being States-issues. Johnson says it is unconstitutional and not conservative to allow those things to be legalized at State level. (This type of rhetoric will cloud the judgment of most evangelical-republicans). He is ignorant of the Constitution, and does not realize that the Constitution was for the FEDERAL government, not for any STATE government. He also fails to realize that all acts of aggression (including homicide, theft, etc) and their punishments are defined by each individual State. Why should abortion be any different? Read the article here: http://kywordsmith.com/#/johnsonvspaul/4535452248 and I'd suggest sending Johnson emails pointing out his flaws and educating him on States-rights vs. the Constitution: http://kentuckybill.com/

Johnson is a...
non-issue and anything he expouses should fall on deaf ears. Mr. Grayson will be the painful rectal itch that will require treatment.
homosexual unions
What is of even more concern to me is the position of Rand Paul on homosexual unions or marriage. If it is the same as his father, then he supports gay unions. I've yet to hear him broach this subject.

Hello Bill, you aren't fooling anyone. Why don't you crawl back into your cave you filthy troll.
Happy 1 hour anniversary!

Wedge issues.
Wedge issues. Straight from the neo-con playbook. It does not matter if a senator can do little or nothing about the issue. Nor does it matter that the issue is far from the most urgent. All that matters is that people feel strongly about it. Don't make people think.
Ran Paul needs to stay on message. "It's the economy, stupid." That translates to, "It's the spending, stupid."

His dad's policy on that is
His dad's policy on that is correct. However, Rand should not bring it up. "It's the economy, stupid."
Why is this a "concern" to you?
And I noticed your 18 minute membership here...
regarding abortion
Abortion has been made a federal subject by the actions of the Supreme Court in 1973. It is erroneous to suggest that states at this point have control over the abortion issue in their state. A national amendment "right to life" has been attempted and failed to get a super majority, however, it is the majority of people that support it. This is definitely a federal issue.
Regardless of how wrong the SCOTUS was in ruling on Roe v Wade, it has been done and 50 million children have already died. One running for Senator or President cannot avoid this issue by deferring to what is past US policy. Like it or not, abortion is legal in America and should be supported or opposed publicly by any candidate. One truly opposing abortion who obtains power should be actively working to right this great evil in our nation.
just admit it, you believe
just admit it, you believe the republic cannot be brought back from the dead, and have fully embraced a top down, centralized, and nationalistic solution to every problem.
you have more in common with the neoliberals and neocons then you do with us. they are just as willing as you are, to put life and death issues, if not all issues, in the hands of a very few.
one supreme law for everyone in this country.
why not the world? you're already moving in that direction?
but before you complete your plan to enslave everyone to one world government, i'll see you rot in hell.
We can tell him he's wrong.
Because he is, Rand However needs to Remain Silent.

This is the
exact same ignorance that bit Ron Paul. Various religious right organizations listed him as "Pro-Choice" on their candidate information tables. I sent e-mails explaining their misrepresentation...but doubt anyone cared to understand what Ron Paul really stood for. And now I read op-eds wondering who we can get to represent the people in 2012.
Ignorance is a dangerous thing.

If you're able to do so...
Please remain silent on this one.
I agree, Jive. No retort is
I agree, Jive. No retort is necessary if Johnson is criticizing him...
Looks like Rand's opponents
are going to try to use his father's record against him. This is a good move. There's a lot to attack, a lot to be twisted.
Rand should explain that undoing Roe v Wade would return the abortion decision to the states saving millions of lives. Supporting state sovereignty is the way to go.
Be in favor of medicinal marijuana and explain why.
As to prostitution, just say he's against it, and wonder why Bill Johnson has it on his mind.
I don't think I'll contact Bill Johnson. He's irrelevant and don't see a need to save his political soul.
There's no need to respond
There's no need to respond to Johnson at all. Just pretend he does not exist. Hope he takes votes from Grayson.
well said Jive
agreed.

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul
And if Rand doesn't respond,
Johnson will publicly ask why. He'll imply Rand is trying to hide his political positions. The media will start asking questions. Rand at least should say Johnson's charges are ridiculous.
Should Rand ignore every charge leveled at him by Johnson? If he does they'll keep coming.
Rand can't let his opponents define him. If he continually doesn't respond, the voters will accept the charges as true.
Maybe Rand says, "The bad news is I'm being double-teamed by Grayson and Johnson, the good news is I can handle it". Laugh at them.
Ignore
In that case, ignore him. He does not exist. He is a non-person. Defense is a lousy offense. Saying an opponent's accusations are ridiculous is a horrible response. It begs for, "Oh yeah? Prove it." The last person or thing that Rand Paul wants to be talking about is Johnson. He needs to take the game to Grayson.
When Rand Paul speaks of the opposition, it should always be, "My opponent." (Singular.) Of course, he should have answers ready if asked about Johnson or his accusations. The answer should spin quickly into a talk about the establishment, GOP/Democrat spending, bailouts, etc... "It's the economy, stupid."
Rand Paul is the underdog.
The people of Kentucky don't know him. If he is to have any chance to win he must not let opponents define him. He must tell the people what he's about. Being passive is not the answer.
Are you from KY?
I am and I can tell you you're dead wrong.
So.. Shoosh.

Yes
and judging from your past performance, you wouldn't know. LOL.
Hearing you're from Kentucky makes us so proud.
Opponents
On second thought, maybe it's better to lump them together, and speak of "my opponents." I'll have to sleep on that one.
How about this?
Rand's spokesperson, without mentioning the source, responds to some misinformation out there. Explaining in a few sentences his position on abortion. Stating to his knowledge all Republican candidates oppose abortion.
You're right it's about the economy, audit the Fed, Banks, Wall Street, deficits, spending, taxes, etc.
rofl!
Bill's copy of the Constitution must not have included the 10th Amendment.
Wedge issue
Desperation already?
Rand Paul must not take the bait. There is absolutely no need to respond. He must frame the debate on issues where Grayson is clearly weak. Rand, if you're listening, make a big sign that says, "It's the Economy, Stupid," and put it on your wall. It worked once; It will work again. Practice spinning ANY question into a question about the economy, bailouts, the old GOP's spending habits, etc...
These are our lives as the world turns...
in spinning those questions he should also discuss how the other candidates share those views and possible help further split the vote by directing each of the other candidates voters to the other candidate.
What do you think?
