The Southern National Congress "The Southern National Convention"

http://www.southernnationalcongress.org/southernnationalcove... I believe the Southern National Covenant could be of an historic magnitude and impact comparable to these other stirring examples. It is as good a statement of our grievances and our aspirations as the English language permits. It is the long drum roll to the colours, interspersed with bugle calls. It is a rallying cry for the South that doesn’t exist anywhere else, nor has been offered in this form by anyone else. Its equal can be found only in the annals of proud and free Peoples. When people bind themselves in such oaths or covenants, it imparts a moral power to their subsequent acts that can’t be achieved in any other way.
This may be in fact why Providence has brought us together in the SNC – to complete and sign this great Covenant and then spread it all over the South, asking our Southern brothers and sisters to covenant with us for liberty and justice and the preservation of Christian civilization. We need to capture their imaginations, move them in their souls. We need to fire them with a renewed passion for their country, the South. What greater calling could any one have? What an enormous privilege, what an historic opportunity we’ve been given, we few in the SNC, to issue this rallying cry to our States and People.
Our watchword after September 12 ought to be, “Will you sign the Covenant?” I’m going to sign it, as did my fathers of old, in blood.
