It's not your concern about it but some of the responses. Divorce her? What? You don't agree with your spouse on everything so you are going to divorce her? No one would be married if that were the case. You guys think that the politicians should honor the Constitution that they pledged to defend but you don't care about marriage vows? How sad is that?

There is more to the story here and we don't know all of the facts. If I were you, I would sit down and have a real talk about exactly why she believes she does. If the Constitution requires modification, then it needs to be modified legally, not run over. She needs to understand that. It isn't just that the Constitution is a document we believe in, it is the law right now and it is being violated. That is what is wrong with this picture; not whether we agree with whether it needs modification or not. If you want to modify it, do it legally!

I think about this type of situation a lot. What would I do?
Finding a girl to marry is hard work, let alone one that shares your views. Being single I would almost rather have been married before I learned about Ron Paul and all this stuff. Now I don't think I could marry someone who didn't share the same ideas about liberty. Dating is pretty difficult too, talking about this stuff to me is essential but to them a pretty big turn off. So that narrows down the dating pool pretty significantly and leaves the likelihood of marriage remote. No I'd much rather be in your position, sure it sucks she doesn't understand yet, but at least you have someone. Have faith, people change. Time prevails where reason fails. If she's worth it, I'd say go to the gates of hell and back for her. You can't force her to think the way you want but you can make her understand how important this is to you, she'll understand that at least and respect it. If nothing else she'll keep you sharp if she's very opinionated. Explore her views and philosophy more, your goals may be the same, just differing means to get there. Sometimes its good to have someone to rub up against. In more ways than one :) Good luck!

why on earth would you ever sign a marriage license in the first place? i suppose if she doesnt care about liberty and freedom shed probably be pissed at the idea of being married without having the state recognized chops to back it up... but yeah that sounds like a bad situation to be in.

what i usually do with my girl when she gets into something is i basically dismiss those things that are important to her when she brings them up, and when she gets pretty annoyed at it i draw the parallels between my behavior and her own.

as a result i have an 'other half' who will basically bend to my political will upon request. not nearly as good as believing in it but i suppose its not as bad as dismissing it entirely.

I had to end my marraige over something similar. I can only pray for you it will work out.
What struck me on this post is that over 100 patriots cared enough to respond and sympathise. That's a good thing.

Not everybody cares about their political environment, they feel it is beyond their control or are otherwise engaged. We still love these people...maybe they allow you to focus on this stuff but have a legitimate distraction from it all.

We are humans. Life must me lived. Some of us play in the garden some of us tend to the garden.

Fighting for liberty is just pulling weeds.

She was probably educated in public government run schools. The only way to get through to those people is by asking questions which cause them to reason the solutions.

understand until it affects them, like a river rising until something happens and she is affected by it, she won't understand. I found it didn't matter what sex a person is if they are not affected, they don't understand.
