Organized effort pushed on Facebook
I was on Facebook and noted several people that posted this to their status:
No one should die because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke because they get sick. If you agree, please post this as your status for the rest of the day
Someone has orginized a pro healthcare push...
So in direct response to that bit of garbage... I posted the following given to me from a C4L member locally.
"thinks no one should die being bombed, shot or tortured by the U.S. government, nor go broke as a result of the government's inflationary monetary and fiscal policy and the extraordinarily inefficient practices and corruption endemic to big gove...rnment. More government control over medicine will only empower the imperialists in DC. If you agree, please post this as your status for the rest of the day"
I also considered "and thinks no one should lose a pinky over a healthcare debate" but decided not to...
Anyhow, for you Facebookers out there.....Post the above to counter the socialists out there.
Oh....Here comes the boss....gotta go....

I posted this one...
Thinks no one should be forced into poverty/welfare BEFORE they get sick for having to pay for mandatory health insurance. People are uninsured because: 1) lack of money, and/or 2) not wanting it. Mandatory health insurance, even on a sliding scale, hurts the very people (above poverty line) it claims to be helping and violates health freedoms. (If you agree, please post this as your status for the rest of the day.)
devil's in the details
On page of everyone who posts the Obama quote, I post a link to the proposed bill and suggest that they at least skim through page 215, with the following citations:
http://waysandmeans.house.gov/media/pdf/111/AAHCA09001xml.pdf
My summary: The bill puts government in direct oversight of the health insurance industry, creating a public option, payed for by users on a sliding income scale. It mandates having some form of insurance, additionally taxing individuals who don’t have it. Employers receive incentives to provide health coverage for their employees and additional tax burden for not doing so. Government oversight itself places additional strain on employers to keep compliant. Patient data will be gathered and compiled to ascertain needs, efficiency, etc…

There is however a “Religious Conscience Exemption” clause. (page 170)

(*sliding scale down to 0% for employer annual aggregate wages not exceeding $250,000.

The devil's in the details and I don't see many (any actually) proponents of this bill discussing these details.
That's a red herring, just FYI.
Don't believe me?
Also, many of the people posting the aftermentioned status will agree with you.
CHA-CHING!
CHA-CHING!
That is MUCH better
than the other one. I had three "friends" posting that crap.
