How do we discuss the obama speech with our children

What kind of people have we become that we don't want our kids "exposed" to the President of the United States? We used to be grateful if the President took a few moments to address us, but now we seem determined to turn our kids against him even before he speaks.

I'd explain some basics about America vs Communism, and how Communism(Totalitarian Statism) is the enemy of all real Americans.
Then, I'd show the laundry list of rock-solid examples of how Obama is a radical revolutionary Communist, and has been an active and zealous Communist agitator and organizer all his adult life. And how virtually ALL of Obama's policies and attempts at policies up to this date illustrate his Communist plans for us.
Then, I'd tell him about how it is Obama's goal to destroy the basic political foundations that originally comprised the United States, and enslave every one in it, and kill or incarcerate anyone who resists.

And finally, I'd try to explain how a large number of people who "call themselves Americans" voted for something like Obama, and how brainwashed they are, and that the brainwashing happens in the schools and in the media, and from the government itself.

And that, Little Johnny, is why you should NEVER listen to ANYTHING from Obama, or any of his supporters. For the rest of your life. Except if you want to analyze some clues about how Obama and his minions are planning on executing their plans against you.

Then I'd give him a copy of the Constitution to read instead, and show him how the amendments indicated growing corruption and deviation from the document starting with the Civil War era, and getting worse as time went on.

Lucky for me I had all nine of my grandchildren this summer, We studied the Constitution and played Find the BO Birthcertificate! So I'm not to worried :o)

I know that the State Run Media has told us that it will be Obama telling students to work hard, etc.

But, I guarantee you that his speech will include some comment or suggestion to prepare them for public service in Obama's million man civilian defense force, which will be just as well funded and equipped as the military.

Tell the child to remember what you told him about listening to strange men.

...and can steal their brain if they watch too long.

For teenagers, tell them he wants to outlaw iPods.

Re-posted for the bump. What Obama says is not important. The message is that the president, (any president, but this one in particular), is a kind, well-meaning, avuncular figure, whose words have extraordinary veracity.

The medium is the message.

From all accounts, the content of the speech is innocuous.

When you discuss it with your child, ask what makes one man more believable than another. Does it make a man better if he puts flags all around him? Is a man's opinion any better or worse because some other people can make children listen to him? Is a man on television a better man than someone who is not on TV? Talk about how to make an effective speech. Can it be faked? In other words, is a good actor better at giving speeches than someone else? How do you tell if someone believes what they are saying? (Answer: A lot of times, you cannot.)

Ask what the child thinks government does. Is is always good? When it is not good, what can be done about it? If a president asks you to do something, should you think about it or just do it? What if someone with flags on TV were to tell you to do something you thought was bad, what should you do?

There is a man who is in a position who's power has far exceeded anything authorized to it by nature and reasonable human interaction. This man controls vast armies, navies and other military / intelligence capabilities. He also oversees a vast national (and international) bureaucracy who's powers far exceed what they are authorized to do in any natural or legal sense. This man, in this great position of unauthorized power, wants to speak to the potential future troops in an army of control and oppression. He wants you to work hard to be in this "army" but he doesn't want you to question the premises. Just do as your told, he will say. The problem is, all of this is a sham and you must realize you are not in service to any collective, especially one based totally on force. You are FREE to live for yourself, your family, your community, etc. It is important to eliminate aggressive force in our lives, so going along with Mr. Obama is a problem, as he is fine with lots and lots of aggressive force. We must realize that these so-called "powerful" men have their power built on lies, distortions and all around BS. It is up to you to be a true force of peace, freedom, prosperity and overall goodness.

Just tell them what it is . Kids are smarter than what some like to believe...They can smell rat bait better than adults can.. Main thing is discuss it.

My wife and I planned to talk to our kids about it today. I don't believe in sheltering them from the world and what is going on. The 17 and 13 year old girls are fully aware and will just shrug their heads at the speech. My 13 year old daughter got in a debate with her teacher last year about the fact that we are a representative constitutional Republic and not a Democracy...pretty funny. My 8 year old son is fairly aware and was upset last year when they only gave him McCain or Obama to vote for. He knew how much we despised McCommie and so when 'forced' to vote he voted Obama. After that we had a serious discussion with him and told him it was okay and what he should do next time while he hung his head thoroughly upset.

Just talk to your kids...give them information and they will see the simple truths. Kids are amazing that way. Remember they have to learn to make the choices themselves and use the knowledge at their disposal to make good decisions.

first and foremost contact your school principal and district superintendent and voice your concerns.

I have not thought about this question and I am glad you brought it up. Hopefully the DP can find the answer. I suppose I would start with What did you learn about our President today? This will give you some insight to how important is was to him and go from there. If it blew right by him, I would leave it alone. Without knowing his questions it's hard to have an answer, but I suppose the theme of my talk would based on how people have different opinions and there is always two sides of the story. Again, hopefully the DP can arm you and others with good talking points.
