September 12th Rally?

My parents are planning to go to a rally on September 12th in Washington D.C. Now, admittedly, I don't watch TV, and I have been out of the loop for the last week (in a purposeful retreat period), but I have not heard much buzz about this event at all. I don't see any references to it on the front page here, and I have not seen any promotional videos for the event.
Does anyone have any information on where this event started and if there is any growing support for it? Is this something that the Ron Paul Revolution should support, or is it just another distraction?

Glenn Beck's 912ers will be there as well, and he'll be broadcasting from 1-3 that day, as the only mainstream media showing the event, he says.
There are many grassroots groups supporting the 9/12 rally.

Thousands of Patriots will be there...
Including many from CFL. It may not be perfect but It's the best opportunity we've got to make our voices heard. Besides, we need as many people as we can get to go and hold up campaign signs and banners for our Liberty candididates in front of national TV cameras.
Especially Rand Paul. Glenn Beck is a big Rand fan and he's anchoring FOX's coverage. So go, get some Rand signs (or any other Liberty candidates) and get in front of a camera!

I have a feeling that my parents are going to be in for a big disappointment. Unfortunately, they are waking up about a year too late.
If your parents heard about it
Then they must be big Glenn Beck supporters, so why would they disappointed? They are waking up to the watered down version of the movement put into motion by RP's campaign. "Waking up" means different things to different people. Until I begin to see some of the more popular issues being discussed here from those attending tea parties and events of this nature, to some extent it is all "astroturf". I have mixed feelings about all that has suddenly begun to happen. Though I am hopeful that people understand a little better what is at stake, they don't pinpoint all the root causes of the epidemic and instead continue to believe those that have failed us will bail us out if we cast our votes again. The anointed will continue to tell you that the Republicans and Democrats have done this to you, but only offer more of the same or no one at all as leaders to regain what we have lost. Individuals are still not empowered to petition government with real solutions, just anger. We will find ourselves again at the crossroads of a McCain and an Obama to choose from followed by a legion of their incumbent devotees. How many independent and third party candidates do you think will get Mr. Beck's favor? He is a tool of the GOP and has done very little for this cause but to co-op our message and redirect us back to tyranny. He is indeed a dangerous ally. Go to the 912 event as an anti-war supporter. Watch the Neo-con republicans come out of the wood work. The only thing they will profess to support is fiscal solvency and lower taxes, a party lie that has been perpetuated with rhetoric and inaction for decades. Drink the kool-aid and suffer a familiar hang over. A real revolution would include our forces to participate in this event and push the issues this faux movement will never touch. Such a confrontation is the only thing that would interest me in seeing this event.

I have seen a few posts about people going. They may not agree with all of Beck's ideas but everyone at least agrees no doubt with some of them. If it helps the cause of freedom and transparency even a little bit and makes voices heard, why not go.
