Ron Paul & Michele Bachman will lead a student town hall discussion at the University of Minnesota on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 7:00pm CT. This is a big day for Dr. Paul and the movement, as it is the same day as the HR 1207 hearings. Dr. Paul will fly immediately from the hearings in DC to Minneapolis for the event, so this will be his first opportunity to comment on the hearings. Jeff is trying to set up a webcast of the event so everyone can watch and hear Dr. Paul's comments. Stay tuned for more info.
Here's an article from the local press, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune: Paul, Bachmann to speak at student town hall at U
The event is hosted by Young Americans for Liberty and sponsored by the Minnesota Campaign for Liberty, Republican Party of Minnesota, Minneapolis City Republican Committee, College Republicans, CFACT, and Students for a Conservative Voice.

Report
OK gang,
Here is the full report from Minneapolis as I promised earlier to deliver. My wife and I arrived around 6.20 P.M. and it was already getting crowded. We stopped by the C4L and YAL booths and talked to Terry McCall (C4L regional coordinator for MN2) and bought a couple of t-shirts to support YAL. Terry said that the first people allowed into the auditorium were the protesters, which we found ridiculous. What exactly they were protesting against was something we all tried to figure out. Liberty? Personal responsibility? Who would know?
But, the point was that the security put them in the front rows in the middle section and then allowed RP and MB people to move in and seat around. So, the Obama crowd made of undergraduates and several middle-aged ladies had some of the best seats in the building. We chose to squeeze amongst them. It was funny to see when one of the girls from the group of several future mediocre public school teachers recognized a friend of hers and said “hey, come sit with us” and the guy said “sorry, I’m a Ron Paul guy” and went to sit on the other side. She was bewildered.
Lower level was basically full. I would say that attendance was really good. Not as packed and enthusiastic as for his Super Tuesday event, but very good overall. My wife commented how, when you look at the RP crowd, all you see is a bunch of individuals, and how the Obama people all look the same. Interesting comment.
Marianne Stabbins, MN C4L coordinator, came out and delivered a speech and introduced Tony Sutton, in my opinion a sleazeball chairman of MN Republicans. Why they did that I do not know, because Sutton’s people worked quite hard to block RP delegates at the state convention last year to a disgusting degree (this story is similar to many others our people have experienced in places like Nevada and so forth). I checked out during his BS speech, but then Michelle Bachmann came out. She was not my favorite congressperson from MN (I simply disliked them all in the past for not being people of principles of liberty), but today she proved herself as someone who may be seriously jumping on the wagon of the liberty caravan. Her speech and her answers throughout the evening were pretty damn good for basically a freshman congressperson. She is learning and let’s hope it continues that way.
Ron Paul? Well, you saw it. Great as always, but I left the place with a serious concern. As I am typing this I have not yet seen the video, so I may be incorrect in assuming that something went wrong with his health. He looked really tired during his speech and was not fully himself while answering the questions. He was sweaty and kept drinking water. I assume they had to rush to the airport and fly straight to MN without having any time to rest. Even Bachmann was dressed in the same outfit she wore during the hearings, if I recall correctly. At one moment Ron looked like he was getting sick and soon after he got up and talked briefly to the moderator, then the whole thing ended abruptly with the last question. At his age it is amazing how much that man can endure, particularly on an emotional day like that. I hope everything is ok. Overall, it was a great evening, and I sure as hell feel incredibly fortunate to see him again. If anything good came out of living in the MSP area it is that I had a chance to see him for Super Tuesday, Rally for the Republic, shake his hand, and see him again today.
Still, the most amazing thing that I witnessed at this event was when Michelle Bachmann was comparing the health care of the United States and the Soviet Union, some kid in front of us yelled that he would prefer the Soviet socialist healthcare. This was one of those undergraduates who is still on his parents’ health insurance, so he could care less. Someone else pays his bill. Elitist little prick. I, one the other hand, have experienced communist healthcare, and I am excited about it as much as reruns of Matlock. Ignorance is amazing, and I am not sure how we can get through to people like that. Middle-aged Obama ladies, who thought this event was going to be about healthcare only, chose to gradually take off instead of listening to what the man had to say. Why learning something new and analyzing different viewpoints, right? When he talked about our dismal foreign policy, possible war with Iran, and the troops increase in Afghanistan, do you think he received any applause from these people? They are the same people who, until the regime change in the White House, considered themselves anti-war left, I am positive. Suddenly, it is not important any more to even care about that.
Thanks for that on the
Thanks for that on the ground report...
Thanks for your great, first-hand report;
let's hope RP takes a good rest and comes back ready to slay dragons soon.
Slay dragons?
So how did your day go honey? Oh not much, hunted a few trolls, and slew a dragon, well kinda... we poked it's eye, mind you... it stunk so bad, could smell it through the computer screen.. So, what's for dinner? Fried crow and 21 blackbirds baked in a pie. Sweet.
Ditto what you said

He Looked Tired...
Ron Paul was beat, he had 3 hours in committee then hopped on a jet to minneapolis. He was probably tossing and turning the night before preparing for both his speech and committee hearing too...He did not come ill-prepared!
Just got home from the UofM
What a great evening. I did'nt see hardly any opposition, one guy sitting down the row from me had a sheet of paper stickered to the back of his shirt urging "healthcare reform now!" and he left about a half hour into the program. All in all, it was a nice wrap up for a hectic day. Michelle did well and hopefully she will continue and come completely full circle and support Dr Paul on everything he does. I'm still watching her carefully for now. I was hoping Dr Paul would announce he was throwing in the hat for another run in 2012 :-)
Show your support on the Ron Paul Map !
People worldwide support Dr. Paul too :-)

Well, we do need healthcare
Well, we do need healthcare reform. We just don't need the kind of healthcare reform that the current administration is pushing.
Drain the swamp!
That was great!

Well Done
What a great day!!!

sounded like things are
sounded like things are getting fired up in the crowd over the healthcare issue...
I think they should have made it more personalized and allowed people to come up and ask their own questions...
"The War Prayer - Mark Twain"
i got the feeling they did that way as to minimize the clamours
from the socialist of Minnesota that like to heckle Bachmann. The left has pick her out as a fun target just like Palin. And since there are an overabundance of liberals up that way...i just think it was a good crowd control technique.
just tuning in...
wow, this is great . ron and michelle b look so relaxed. it's wonderful
after a day like today.
i don't know about you guys but i've still got today's hearings in my head.
i go into FB and nearly everyone is posting some clip of it etc.
it's mind boggling.
Ron Paul is my President
Ron Paul is My President
It has been the biggest day
It has been the biggest day of his life, and now he is working way over time. My guess is he would rather be basking in his triumph of the hearings this morning.
What's with the bottled water drinking?
Geez, .....it looks bad.
I'm actually kind of worried
I'm actually kind of worried about RP - he doesnt seem to be looking so well.
I think he needs some good sleep this weekend. God Bless you Ron.
I mean in general
It's seems epidemic and looks crude.
Please, give the guy a break...
He spent most of the day in D.C. at the FED hearings and then had to jet over to Minnesota on top of that.
I'd be beat and I'm 22 years younger.
Whan you travel that much and work that hard, you'd BETTER stay hydrated.

I just saw Dr. Paul last week at Valley Forge, I already miss him and wish I were there.
Michelle Bachmann
Is the BOMB!!!
Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow
I'd hope that she has
a better understanding about where this country came from and where it is currently. I do believe the entire Bush Admin belongs in jail. Go NYCCAN
lets get some answers and see if we can get some indictments. Michelle are you listening ?
Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow
