This is a discusting display of technology in the hands of a
society lacking the spiritual maturity for proper use.. A dangerous combination indeed.
Will mankind ever mature enough to realize how easily these tools can be used to enslave them ?
How short sighted these scientists are. Materialists. Success driven stupidity.

I see here a hunger for the
I see here a hunger for the spirit. A desire to leave the constrains and limitations of our bodies behind. Unfortunately inserting ourselves into a virtual world via robotics, genetic software, etc will not accomplish that end. Only Christ conquered death, for the purpose of enabling us to realize what this talk is obviously reaching for.

Looks like a great movie. Can't wait.

How's that for some action-packed predictive programming?
...The Scientific Dictatorship...
...you are either with the Scientific Dictatorship that will arise from this, or you are extinct...
...according to this, we are now all subhuman, subordinate to this newly declaired Master race of superhumans this will produce...
...maybe we should have some humility and real reflection before we begin this endevor...just because you can do something does not mean you should...
...but that will never happen because there is too much money and ultimate control which will come out of this...
...nothing new under the sun...

global scientific trans-humanist agenda
Some of the videos, or portions of some videos, even this one, do appear to promote the global scientific trans-humanist agenda. For me I don't think that is a good thing.
Just like ZG, and ZGA, I think there is some GREAT info here, but it needs to be put into its proper context.
For everyone, read some Bertrand Russell, or Huxley. Check out the UNESCO charter. The sick stuff they have planned is here, and it looks to me like TED is an advocate. Make your own informed decision, but you better be informed first, rather than gutlessly defending positions some dumb movie or video advocated.
I put this as a reply to Rougeliberty, because I think this individual gets it. I hope you will too.
If you are offended, seek help and take personal responsibility for your own emotional well being, since you chose to be offended.

One thing I have read and heard about restring an economy after a bust is there needs to be a wave of innovation. Juan thinks that wave is in the biotech industry. I don't disagree with him in the slightest, especially after seeing his case for it. What I am worried about is after the bust of the biotech industry what is going to be the next wave of innovation to get us out of an economic disaster?
I think one of the major things that Juan misses here is discussing the root cause of economic cycles. If he would only take a look at the Federal Reserve and talk about money creation and monetary policy it would go a long way in his presentation. The fact that he completely omits it is disappointing. He doesn't leave his audience any smarter than when they came in, just more informed about the next bing innovation wave and opportunity for the Fed to create an environment to have malinvestments in ideas that shouldn't be invested in due to cheap money.
At any rate, Fed monetary policy and the effects it has on investment and innovation is a whole other topic. If you'd like a starting point I would suggest reading about the late 90's dot com boom and bust.
TED is great.
TED is great. I listened to three talks tonight. This was my favorite: http://www.ted.com/talks/susan_blackmore_on_memes_and_temes....
Eye-opening, great information, and a vast amount of info...
compressed into 17 minutes. Plus, this guy knows how to deliver a talk.
Very interesting, especially the heart that began beating!
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Frankly, I think that's a lie
They can't take a heart out of a person who just died and make it beat again. Human organs must be taken WHILE THE DONOR IS STILL ALIVE. It's the donation that kills him. The disciples of Frankenstein have concocted "brain death" to trick people into thinking that the dying are already dead when they take their organs. NOT SO!
Don't agree to be an organ donor or they'll kill you for 'em ... you're worth more to them as parts than you are as a whole human being.
Would these kinds of people lie about producing a "beating" heart. You bet they would.
master race nonsense
Read between the lines!
This guy is calling for the emergence of a "homo evolutus" to impose its "superior will" over our entire planet, a technocratic dictatorship.
First Zeitgeist Addendum, and now this...
I seriously wonder about your priorities sometimes Michael.
However if you believe in
However if you believe in evolution, it is possible that we as human beings are not finished evolving.
Or maybe we always evolve and change... I don't know...
IF YOU CAN REASON WITH NATURE YOU WIN
Our universe reacts to us. By way of critical thinking we manipulate variables in our universe that always respond. It is our critical thinking that allow us to choose which path we take, with or without good reason.
Nature can grow exponentially. You are saying that we are still apart of nature although our continued existence is in question due to our consumption and our inability to respond to nature. Forcing artificialities to mold our perception of reality is not our role in the universe.
I say this because the amount of life created by permaculture far exceeds what consolidated artificial systems can create.
and life is the key to nature.
The role of a farmer, in Fukuoka's mind, is an observer, not an intervener, of the natural order in his/her particular landscape. How is that any different than Hayek in regards to Economics?
The time line is a bit off but ....
possible.
He is claim that we will be well on our way before 2020.
There are still obstacles that could take decades.
He overlooks this.
I predict it will be closer to 2100 than 2020.
But, I say again,
very possible.

Almost Disturbing.
The fact that you are seeing some of these technologies makes me wonder what the military has in it's bag of tricks. It's great if a free market approach is taken but we all know the government does not like competition.
His pie chart on the distribution of federal funds looked inaccurate.

1. seizing control of its own evolution;
2. defeating its aging mechanism;
3. leaving its planet to become space-faring.

I absolutely DESPISE people
that think they KNOW what happended millions of years ago. Always a little truth mixed with a lot of .
Do you KNOW that the earth revolves around the sun?
No, you don't KNOW that, but the evidence is pretty darn good. Nobody KNOWS what happened millions of years ago, but the evidence is pretty darn good.
Didn't Jesus teach you not to hate?
--------
Fossils Rock!
'Cause there's a monster on the loose
Actually, as far back as 1889 there was an experiment ...
.... which pretty much proved that the earth does not revolve around the sun (heliocentrism was in vogue at the time thanks to Galileo)... that, according to the experiment, the earth appeared to be stationary and that the other planets revolve around the sun and the whole thing revolves around the earth ... making the earth a pretty special place smack dab in the center of the universe. This is not an easily defensible position for atheists to be in soooo ....
Scientific experiments must be interpreted and the "great minds" simply interpreted the Michelson-Morely experiment to be a "big fat failure," because it not only didn't support their pet paradigm of the universe, it put it on a collision course with reality! Hark! Anything but that! Next, enter the evil genius and all around low life Einstein, who cooked up his theory of relativity according to which there is no discernible center of the universe thus saving the scientific glitterati of the time from having to grovel to the Catholic Church for defending geocentrism as it is plainly stated in the bible several times over.
This experiment was tried several times over the years and always produced the same results ... the earth is standing still. It doesn't spin or revolve. If it did spin (1000 miles an hour) everything at the equator (which would be spinning the fastest) would weight half what the same thing weighs in Nova Scotia due to the unshakable law of centrifugal force. Also, if the earth was hurdling through space at 67,000 mph, what protects our atmosphere from blowing away? Velcro or super glue?
If men truly believed that the earth was the center of the universe, who would fall for the pseudo scientific shtick that the earth is a tiny little insignificant planet on the edge of nowhere .... one of many ... blah, blah, blah ... which evolved from gasses ... where, happily and quite by accident, life happened to spring up from primordial mud. It's the bs story of the century, proved untrue in a thousand and one details if only people would do a little research. But, it sets men free from God and so they cherish their freedom to roast in hell for all eternity rather than have to bend the knee to God.
We've been lied to all our lives by men who want us to be their slaves. There is no evidence WHATSOEVER, that the earth revolves around the sun. What happened millions of years ago? NOTHING! Time had not yet been created by God. (It can be proven ... but you need to do your own research).
you're joking...
...right?
Not in the least!
I've done some mighty hefty extra-curricular research on this topic to get to my conclusions! How did you pick up your beliefs? Did some public school teacher plant them in your head or did you discover them on your own?
These ideas: evolution, a multi-billion year old universe that, according to "experts," created itself, global warming, overpopulation, holes in the ozone, peak oil and any number of other fairy tales are preached by the elites. The same elites have squashed thousands of innovations that might have improved life for all mankind. Why? Because they are gatekeepers who only allow what they can control to get through. Through the printing and doling out of money, they control almost all education and research. Why do you suppose they created the Department of Education which has a verifiable track record of dumbing down the government school inmates.
I'm at the point in my life that I going to say what I know to be true. You'd be wise not to take my word for it, and really wise if you do your own research. I challenge you to prove me wrong.
If you read material pro and con evolution, for instance, I think you'll come to agree that the pro stuff is breathless bull (where they repeat ad nauseam, that evolution is a proven fact, without providing a single fact) while the con is exceedingly solid science proving in hundreds of ways and in many scientific disciplines (geology, astronomy, biology, molecular biology, paleontology, etc), that the theory is holier than Swiss cheese. Today, most evolutionary scientists have been reduced to believing that space aliens "seeded" the earth ... while they won't admit it publicly, they have had to come to the conclusion that evolution is a very leaky boat.
Here's another suggestion. Google, "Demographic Winter," a fairly new video about the coming population implosion once the baby boomers die off. Don't believe you can view the whole video online yet. However, parts of it are there. Alongside it are sad tales about how Europe is dying.
My final advice, question EVERY mantra the mainstream spouts ... it's all lies and damn lies.
