Jct: Am I glad to hear interest-free local currencies are going to be brought to Ron Paul's attention so he won't have to argue for accepting the pain of poverty because he thinks there's already too much money.

And the Ithaca Hours model should also be brought to Ron Paul's attention. Sure, cash buy-in Berkshares are good chips but so are time buy-in Ithaca Hour $10 bills. Why not use both features? Let people buy-in with their time like at timebanks and let them buy-in with cash for a premium like Berkshares. Use both!!!
Best of all, when the local currencies are pegged to the Time Standard of Money (how many dollars per unskilled hour child labor) Hours earned locally can be intertraded with other timebanks globally! In 1999, I paid for 39/40 nights in Europe with an IOU for a night back in Canada worth 5 Hours.
